Very close to the Viktor-Adler Market in Favoriten is the popular Yemen Khavesi café and restaurant. This is actually part of a small Turkish chain that has opened in Vienna in the last year. So why the name Yemen? .... because if you are like me you would be expecting Yemeni cuisine. Well Yemen has always reputedly been the birthplace of coffee in a port city called Mokka (or Mocha). And of course they have Yemeni coffee here. But they also have some of the best pide in Vienna as well. The Yemen pide served with a green salad is especially tasty. The cheese and champignons blend in perfectly and I add the Middle Eastern red chili powder to it to make for a delicious meal. This also makes a great snack for two or three people to share. Yemen Khavesi is a good addition to the Viennese culinary scene. read more
