I have lived all over the U.S. and have had some amazing Chinese food and some disappointments but this is on the amazing scale. I haven't had eggrolls this good since I lived in California. The homeade hot mustard is just like one of my former favorite places and something I've been searching for for 20 years and finally found it here. The food is simply fantastic and the hot and sour soup is fire! The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere about it and great decor. The service has been top notch everytime we've come in, even if its close to closing they get us taken care of without feeling rushed or neglected. They are truly kind people! read more

Really wanted to like this place. Cute decor inside, the two ladies running it were personable and seemed to greet each customer by name. From the looks, it could be the new sit-down-bring-people-there kind of place if the food was good. My family is veg, so ordered two tofu dishes, fried rice, and spring rolls. The spring rolls were decent, the other 3 dishes were so bland and flavorless! Sad. We had 2 tofu dishes, hard to tell which one was supposed to be the Kung Pao Tofu. Very strange ingredients. Unfortunately, we will not be patrons of Yen Ching any longer. We just spent $70 for two meals and an appetizer & got home and both of our fried rices were MIA and our crab Rangoon was overdone. Called up and they were going to put the credit of $13 under my name for next time. I spoke with the owner & he said "nope we took care of you with the credit" and I asked if he was going to apologize and he said "nope, and you won't tell me how to run my business" I was never unruly or raised my voice, just simply wanted an apology for missing "half" of our meal. Sadly, this place has gone down hill the last several years. I've been going there for 22ish years (remember when they served it in Ozark High School -unsure if they still do). I used to recommend it all the time, and was a chosen place for birthday celebrations with my family. Love this restaurant. Everything is always served hot and fresh made. Their crab rangoons are savory and soooo good!! I almost always order their chicken with garlic sauce but branched out and got their house beef today. Both are delicious! Our waitress was very attentive and all of our orders came out perfect and timely. They have the restaurant decorated really nice and it gives each table a quiet private feel. Also - not to be missed by my kids - there is a mini store at the front where they always manage to find something. read more

They were super friendly and accommodating when I asked for peanuts in my kung pao chicken which was also amazing. Only regret is that I didn't have the time to try more dishes. 4/5 on atmosphere- it's mostly pretty cool looking. Went at 1PM, the place wasn't busy. Other full families that ordered much after us were served before us and we waited 40 minutes for food.... I had to get back to work. Portions are much smaller than other restaurants. The food was good but not the greatest. The egg roll was yummy but it was the size of my thumb, not big at all, especially for the price. I will say I am not a fan of Asian soups, but their soup came included and was full of vegetables and other ingredients. The checkout smelled like cow manure for some reason. The service was good. Our server was very sweet. The food was horrible . We went to lunch and it was like we got old chicken nuggets with sauce over it. The food was hot and fresh. The portions were great which made it a good value. We will get two meals out of it. Service was fast and the waitress was attentive. It was nicer inside than I expected for a Chinese restaurant, but not so fancy that we felt underdressed when stopping on our way back from Silver Dollar City. My husband got general chicken, which he said was a little different, more sweet. My kids got cashew chicken and it was great. I got hot and spicy soup which came with shrimp which was nice. Usually when I'm out in the ozarks i find myself staring at pine trees that seem to be breathing in and out due some sort of mushroom I've recently ingested. Those type of mushrooms are undeniably second rate compared to those found in Yen Ching's hot and sour soup. It's the perfect amount of hot and the perfect amount of sour. The mushrooms as well as the rest of the meat and produce are extremely fresh at this establishment. Also it's important to note, the prices and portions of every dish we had (chicken lo mein, orange chicken, beef and broccoli) were of extremely good value. I have been coming to Yen Ching since it opened almost 15yrs ago and it has never been bad. In the last year they have raised their prices, but I would happily pay more for the quality to stay the same. It's a clean restaurant, with fast service and fresh food.
