The chicken was cooked well with lots of spice and flavour. You also get your choice of two sides, I had fried plantains and rice and peas. Both sides were very good. The rice and peas are cooked in coconut milk, so they are rich with a mild flavour that is a good juxtaposition for the spicy chicken. The portion size is also very generous, unlike some other food trucks.

Arriving a bit late for lunch, I asked if I could get a Chicken Curry. The pleasant lady at the till looked as if to think about it for a brief while before going "uuhmm,okay. But it will be 7 minutes." At the time I thought as if I was asking for something unusual, but this is one of the menu item, and I feel like this just might be the way of the shop The chicken, while deliciously spiced with Jamaican curry was at least half bone and cartilage. There were large masses of chicken but it was still difficult to get a mouth-full without spitting the undesirable pieces back into the styrofoam container. Is this authentic? Unfortunately, I'm too uneducated to say. The atmosphere is laid back and I was the only person without a thick Jamaican sounding accent and I very much enjoyed the food. The popup included a fun menu of festive drinks, all served in Christmas themed glasses and mugs. My husband and I started out with a drink served in a large bowl, intended to be shared by two or more people. We also tried a couple items off the Sippin Santa menu and some from Ricardo's regular menu. While we enjoyed everything, Ricardo's house items came out ahead. The bar itself is quite small so now I understand why reservations were hard to come by. It normally has a nautical theme but they did a great job incorporating wrapping paper and other holiday decor. I had a great time at Ricardo's and definitely plan on checking it out again the next time I'm in town.
