As its status solely as a traditional restaurant suggests, Chinese Delight offers Asian cuisine that is a bit more extensive than your usual Chinese takeaways and all-you-can-eat restaurants can offer. Their menu offers a wide selection of dishes, including oysters, as well as a range of chicken, duck and beef dishes. Sure, having these meats on their menu isn't particularly impressive, but the sheer number of dishes including each of them is. Unfortunately, the food doesn't quite live up to the expectation set by the quality of the menu, but that's not to say it's horrible. It's all pretty edible and quite tasty, but that's about it. The quality of the dishes sets it apart from the usual Chinese places but, to be honest, when it comes to getting Chinese food I think I prefer the downmarket all-you-can-eat places or just getting a takeaway and eating it whilst watching TV. Still, if you're in the area and fancy something a bit different then Chinese Delight might be worth a try.

Thankfully, this was the right move as we heard them tell people the same thing over the phone that they weren't taking anymore orders right now. The restaurant was packed with diners, and they told us our order would be ready in 2 hours at 8 pm which was fine. When our family arrived for pickup though they had to wait, so we think everything was just made right then which at least meant everything was piping hot and freshly made. For the 5 of us, we ordered Deep Fried Chili Chicken, Duck & Plum, Beef Ho Fun Dry Noodles, 2 Fried Rices, Salt & Pepper Chips and 1 order of chips. The bill was 35 pounds. While the food was good, the portions were a bit small. We definitely could have used one more dish for the 5 of us. I'm American, so it's a bit weird to me to order fries with Chinese food, but apparently that's a big deal here and a must. The order of chips was incredibly dinky. The order of salt & pepper chips was a bigger portion though (though my family still thought it was small, but the regular chips just came in a tiny little paper bag). The salt & pepper chips were really good though and they were probably my favorite dish I tried. The noodles needed a bit more flavor, but I do like a thick wide noodle, so that part was nice. We ordered them dry, so maybe that wasn't the go-to move here. I added a dash of soy sauce which was okay. I wanted to love this dish since I love noodles, but this was just okay/good. The duck dish was crispy and my sister-in-law said that was her favorite dish. It wasn't saucy; it wasn't what I expected, but it was okay/good. The chili chicken dish was definitely better than other similar dishes I've had in the UK. This is my sibling-in-laws go-to-dish, so I've had several iterations and they are always too sickly sweet. Thankfully, this one was not and it wasn't terribly saucy either. I liked the crispiness of the chicken, but because of the sauce it loses a bit of that crunch factor. If my husband and I were just ordering, I probably wouldn't choose this dish, but it was still ok/good. The same goes for the duck dish -- these aren't the type of dishes I'd typically get, but both were pretty alright. The fried rice was pretty standard and basic. No complaints, but no compliments either. I really liked the seasoning of the salt & pepper chips which was like a vinegar sauce with chillies. I loved this dish and I'd order this again. Anyway, I haven't been terribly impressed with Chinese food in general in the north, but this was one of the better versions I've had in the area and I definitely would be happy to order take away from here again (there's not loads of options in this area and it's definitely one of the better options).

Heck, this place does good Oriental fare, with some delicious Cantonese and Peking options and it's certainly a calming and relaxing place to be with all its minimalist white decor, again not something you see a lot of in Chinese restaurants. Still, someone's got to buck the paper lampshade trend, although all that white around such sticky sauces made me rather nervous. I didn't want to feel like a little piggy. Especially with lobster around. You might not think it's easy to get to but if you stop off at Old Roan station (assuming you're travelling by train), it's right nearby and only a five minute brisk walk from Aintree racecourse itself. The restaurant is a fairly young one, the service swell, and the owner well-renowned. I'd give it a flutter if I were you.

VERY Rude and abusive service from this business…read more VERY Rude and abusive service from this business. My housemate just ordered from here and didn't receive their food after almost 2 hours. They called just asking for an update and then were called a liar over the phone that the order had appeared. The owner and delivery driver then drove to my house and verbally assaulted my housemate and then called them a liar saying they had proof of the order when no food had showed up. Housemate asked for proof and then the Delivery driver & Owner both didn't show this "Proof" and drove off leaving my housemate with no food. Very appalling behaviour and the owner should be ashamed of themselves shouting at a young woman who was just wondering where their food was. VERY disappointed in this business and they should be ashamed at their poor customer service

We've had some great meals, whether just my wife and I, or when there has been a party of 10 of us. I think some people will find the service slightly on the slow side, but I think they forget, every dish is cooked to order it informs you of this on the menu. If they want quick, go to McDonalds! The staff are always helpful, polite and friendly. All in all, a great place to go, just don't expect the kitchen to perform miracles, be patient, and you will have a fab time. The area where I live has many many restaurants and I would be more than happy if we saw this place open in our town :)))

The first time i was made to spend more than i had wanted to because they don't accept card payments for anything under £10. My bill was £9. The second time i was unimpressed by the chow mein; it was dried out and drenched in dark soy - as though it had been cooked much earlier in the day and left in a tray for hours and reheated for me. For the money each dish is valued (£5-7) at i would expect freshly cooked food. I have never eaten here for a meal in the restaurant, so perhaps they treat their takeaway customers to poorer quality meals, than the patrons who sit down in the restaurant?

I'd suggest the takeout because like I've said the food is great! Then again the staff are really friendly and the service is great. They cater for children too and have high chairs available. There are amazing views from the Restraunt right over the bay, it's a lovely setting which makes your meal even more special. Highly recommended, this is a great place.
