All of the essentials you need are there - blankets, straps, blocks, bolsters, extra mats and more. There is also a yoga rope wall and there are workshops focused on ropes. But the ropes are not just for the advanced, in my Level 1 class we use them for stretching and balancing sometimes. The family yoga is great - a nice yoga workout and fun for the kids. There are also classes I haven't seen elsewhere - yoga for high schoolers and special needs kids. Class sizes are good - not overcrowded, allowing for personal attention. The instructors I've had are great. I think the cost is reasonable. It is in a strip mall so there is plenty of free parking. It's not just an instructional yoga studio, there's a community atmosphere with movie nights, book club and discussions. You close your eyes and hear birds chirping around you, breathe in the fresh air, and hear running water from a fountain. You open your eyes and see a beautiful garden with colorful flowers and herbs, not to mention the entire place being surrounded by trees. You can't ask for anything better when you're really in the middle of the city. And to top it all off, the class sizes are small so you get a lot of personal attention. For any beginners, you're able to have a free intro class to understand 1) how to best use the reformer, and 2) understand general modifications you can make when starting out (e.g., if you need a waffle mat to help stabilize your core while on the reformer). Some of my favorite classes include the hybrid classes or the Barre class. At times, I feel that the mat Pilates works my core even more than the reformer, making the stretch reformer Pilates classes great on my "off" days.

I had only a short time to practice before leaving the area. However, in 5 one-hour-and-a-half sessions, I experienced the beginnings of a deep release in both body and mind. It was a truly wonderful (incremental) experience. I was very sorry to have to leave. Shelly is very organized, very pedantic. She has the knack of being so in such an accepting but no-nonsense manner --and with such good will-- that working on a pose with her (and the breathing associated with it) happens with absolutely no angst, no stress. This ensures growth and progress. Shelly's classes were well-thought-out, very organized --- a progression from easy stretches to somewhat more difficult abs, leg, and foot and toe work, on to balance poses and finally to a total body stretch that is followed by deep relaxation at the end of each session. Shelly is a patient but eagle-eyed instructor. . Her organized approach in each session (which I understand evolve as students assimilate the poses) allowed me to develop a practice I could take with me when I left. (A great gift!) I highly recommend the meditative ambiance of the environment, the non-intrusive acceptance and goodwill of the other students and the personal attention to the pose's form and breathing requirements as taught by Shelly.
