There's plenty of counters open, especially at busy periods and I don't remember ever having to queue for long, unlike a lot of other banks in the town centre. On an evening/through the night the front section of the bank can be accessed to gain use of the cash machines, you simply swipe your bank card for the door to open. Once inside, it's well lit and have CCTV recording so feels a little safer than visiting an ATM in the shadows of the High Street.

It's on a separate road sort of set back from the main High Street. It's a pleasant little branch. The staff are friendly and helpful and I am always pleased with the service received in the branches. I have a number of accounts with them, I have a savings account myself, and both my children have savings accounts. I also have my mortgage with the Darlington Building Society at the moment. I did have one or two issue with the way the head office handled my mortgage and caused unnecessary delays, but the branch staff have always been very helpful.

This is a small and friendly branch with just two or three cashier counters, and a small private area for more detailed discussions. It's not my regular branch but I do go there every few months. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and you don't generally have to queue for very long. Thornaby town centre is undergoing a massive refurbishment and regeneration at the moment, and I understand that soon this branch of Barclays will be moving into a new office, closer to the rest of the shops.

There's is usually a shorter queue for the help desk and the staff are always really helpful. They have private rooms for discussing your account in confidence or if you need to sort your overdraft, loan etc. Their 'quick pay' service is a small postbox on the wall and not very secure in my opinion. There are cash points inside as well as outside; the outside ones are usually quite busy. Overall, it's clean and tidy inside with friendly staff, it's just the queues that let it down.

On the upside whenever I go in, despite the wait the customer service is always excellent, and very rarely need to wait for an issue with my account to be resolved. They have 2 cash machines in the branch, which is useful because often the ones in the wall outside are being used by people who don't actually bank with natwest, so they rarely use the ones inside and they usually have little or no queue.

They're nearly always running late for appointments though. It's not open on Saturdays and has sometimes been closed when it should've been open. The advisers have made several mistakes on my account at this branch so I avoid it at all costs. I personally don't recommend Barclays as an account provider and I certainly don't recommend going to this branch.

There are helpful people within this branch, they are just rather hard to find and actually keep hold of! The building itself is pretty old but easy to access being right in the centre of town and all on one level. There are cash machines both inside and out so if you are using them during opening hours and are worried about taking money out you can at least put it away in a purse/wallet before you leave and feel a bit more secure. The red sofas in the reception area could do with being replaced though as they haven't stood up to the wear and tear!

It has a number of cashier counters and an enquiry desk, and it always seems to be really busy and full of people. The staff are friendly and helpful, but I wish they would do something about the queues. When I last went in there I had to queue for ages to get to the enquiry desk, then I had to wait again for someone to be able to have a word with me. I only wanted general information about maybe switching my account from another bank to Nat West. They were helpful and gave me loads of information, but what I didn't like was that they asked for my name and address and phone number first! I just feel that's not necessary when I just wanted general information and hadn't even made up my mind. I daresay that directive came down from head office so it's not fair to blame the staff in the branch, but it did annoy me!
