I won't list all of them - just some highlights. My friend, who is not experienced, wanted to do this trail ride for our birthdays and we thought it would be fun. I've been on trail rides all over the world and know what to expect, and have never pulled out of a ride because I didn't feel safe until this place. I was the first person to be mounted and when the horse came out, I could see that the saddle was improperly placed too far back. I didn't say anything because it's not my place, but when I mounted, the girth was clearly too loose as the saddle started to slip. I told them that the girth was too loose and also that the saddle seemed to far back so Janet said let's reset the saddle and asked me how I would do it! She didn't seem to know the proper placement or how tight to make the girth because apparently this happened before. She then told me to walk down the lawn and let the horse graze while I waited for the rest of the group. It's not a safe practice to let horses graze while mounted, especially with beginners, but apparently that's what they do regularly. When the group was ready to leave, Janet started off on her horse and just about 30 yards from the barn, before even getting to the trail, the horse tripped and fell all the way down to the ground!! Janet fell off of course, and the horse walked off. If I had any doubt that all the red flags I'd clocked were right, this confirmed it. She was shaken up but ok, but didn't go on the ride, I don't know what was up with the horse but if a horse falls down just walking across a lawn, that raises questions about soundness and safety that are serious.

Beautiful place to ride! I love the fact that the owner has saved these horses. I highly recommend…read moreBBR!

We were given special cookies and carrots to feed them. We walked around, saw so many of them, and even got to pet them. It was a truly beautiful experience for the kids, and honestly, even for the parents! lol.

The facility is on the CW Post campus of Long Island University, and I must say, it's run very professionally. All of the school horses appear to be healthy and happy, and the grounds are impeccable - safe and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. My awesome coach is helping me sort through my anxiety after being thrown pretty badly about 6 months ago. She gives tons of positive reinforcement, is patient, and knows exactly what I'm ready for. Love her. They have a huge indoor ring as well, which is great for lessons in the winter/rain, etc. They have all sorts of school horses, so if you need to start on a pokey pony, they are available! I've seen all levels and ages riding out there. Little tiny kids to old people like me. I've taken away one star for two reasons: sometimes I'm in the ring with up to 3 other lessons, which can get a little crowded; and I wish that I could tack up the horses myself and put them back in their stalls. They have handlers that do that for you. They offer pay as you go half hour and hour lessons. I think they also offer 10 lesson packages, but that's way too rich for my blood.

After my 6 year old was frightened during a lesson after only a few weeks , I asked she not be forced to ride that same horse again, which was met with anger and contempt. Then they literally kicked my daughter out of her lessons , but sure enough they waited for my check to clear !!!! Imagine how I explain this to my 6 year old even she can see that these people are totally off their rocker. How do you fire a 6 year old from horseback riding class for being afraid of a horse who did something scary on her third lesson? It's actually comical ! Selfish and rude spoiled people who are only interested in money and status and if I could give NO STARS at all I would . The only reason I'm even writing this review at all is because I wish I would have known this ahead of time . Save yourself the aggravation and just go somewhere else ! DON'T GO TO RED BARN ! Even if they seem nice at first , which they were sooooo nice to us until we voiced any kind of concerns (which HELLO I am entrusting my child's life to you) they snapped back with some real psycho attitudes and unprofessional behavior . I believe when there is an issue with a client you speak to the person and resolve it , not text them without identifying yourself and tell the client to go somewhere else on the words of a kid who thinks she can put my child in danger and I should sit back and shut up about it NOPE !

We came by to inquire about lessons, and instead of it feeling like a quick stop, the staff made us feel right at home. The grounds are beautiful, well-kept, and welcoming -- you can immediately sense how much care goes into maintaining the space and ensuring a positive environment for both riders and horses. The team took the time to answer our questions, walk us through what to expect, and made us feel excited about the possibility of lessons. It's rare to find a place where professionalism meets such genuine kindness, but Gold Coast Equestrian is exactly that. If you're even thinking about riding lessons or just curious to learn more, this is the place to go. We left feeling not only informed but also part of the community already. Highly recommend!

Desensitized to aids. They have you pay for the semester and the trainers are unwilling or unable to bring you along and are often involved in their personal conversations as if the private lessons you paid for were actually free. I was told by one trainer that my posture was fine. By a second that my posture was terrible while riding a sickly horse on a child's saddle repeatedly despite my objections. I had another horse run away with me. The next week that same horse did that to a young girl, with no interventions from staff. If you complain you will be met with fast talking nonsense.
