Desensitized to aids. They have you pay for the semester and the trainers are unwilling or unable to bring you along and are often involved in their personal conversations as if the private lessons you paid for were actually free. I was told by one trainer that my posture was fine. By a second that my posture was terrible while riding a sickly horse on a child's saddle repeatedly despite my objections. I had another horse run away with me. The next week that same horse did that to a young girl, with no interventions from staff. If you complain you will be met with fast talking nonsense.

The facility is on the CW Post campus of Long Island University, and I must say, it's run very professionally. All of the school horses appear to be healthy and happy, and the grounds are impeccable - safe and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. My awesome coach is helping me sort through my anxiety after being thrown pretty badly about 6 months ago. She gives tons of positive reinforcement, is patient, and knows exactly what I'm ready for. Love her. They have a huge indoor ring as well, which is great for lessons in the winter/rain, etc. They have all sorts of school horses, so if you need to start on a pokey pony, they are available! I've seen all levels and ages riding out there. Little tiny kids to old people like me. I've taken away one star for two reasons: sometimes I'm in the ring with up to 3 other lessons, which can get a little crowded; and I wish that I could tack up the horses myself and put them back in their stalls. They have handlers that do that for you. They offer pay as you go half hour and hour lessons. I think they also offer 10 lesson packages, but that's way too rich for my blood.

I would not recommend this stable based on our experience…read more My daughter signed a boarding agreement, paid all of her boarding fees in full, and provided more than the required 30 days' notice that she intended to move her horse. Despite this, she was never provided with a copy of the signed contract. Instead of honoring the notice period, the stable gave her only 24 hours to remove her horse. They also kept her $500 security deposit and retained the unused boarding fees for more than half of the month. This was extremely unprofessional, unfair, and unacceptable. A boarding facility should communicate clearly, provide copies of signed agreements, and treat clients with honesty and respect. Keeping a client's deposit and prepaid fees under these circumstances, while refusing to address legitimate concerns directly, reflects very poor business practices. I hope the stable will improve its professionalism and transparency so that other horse owners do not have a similar experience.

Imagine how I explain this to my 6 year old even she can see that these people are totally off their rocker. How do you fire a 6 year old from horseback riding class for being afraid of a horse who did something scary on her third lesson? It's actually comical ! Selfish and rude spoiled people who are only interested in money and status and if I could give NO STARS at all I would . The only reason I'm even writing this review at all is because I wish I would have known this ahead of time . Save yourself the aggravation and just go somewhere else ! DON'T GO TO RED BARN ! Even if they seem nice at first , which they were sooooo nice to us until we voiced any kind of concerns (which HELLO I am entrusting my child's life to you) they snapped back with some real psycho attitudes and unprofessional behavior . Their patience and expertise made all the difference in building real confidence in the saddle. What makes this barn stand out is the community. It's been great to see a growing number of novice adults getting into lessons after watching how much fun their kids are having, and there's something special about riders of such different levels and ages sharing the same arena and all improving together. The horse was being very patient and obedient just standing there and the woman (with long blonde hair in a braid) seemed to be taking out her bad mood out on the horse. She yelled with a nasty tone saying "back up!" God forbid the horse wasn't standing in the exact spot an an inch from where she then| moved it to. My family had horses, I know how you're supposed to talk to them. Hurt my heart hearing the way she spoke to this horse. This horse was not being difficult in any way. It is a privilege and an honor to be able to work with horses. I did not get the impression this person understands that. Even if you are having a bad day, you never take it out on an animal. Maybe i'm overly sensitive when it comes to all animals, especially dogs and horses but this is just the feeling I got when I witnessed this today. I hope that this is not an every day occurrence with the horses in their care.

It feels more like walking through a generic airport terminal than an iconic New York racetrack. Cramped Ground Floor: The indoor area on the first floor is far too small. Squeezing everyone into this reduced footprint makes the concourse feel tight and uncomfortable. Lack of Seating: There is a severe lack of basic benches and general indoor seating for everyday racegoers who just want to sit, handicap, and watch the races. Poor Navigation: Getting from the east side to the west side (and vice versa) is surprisingly inconvenient and bottlenecked. The layout makes moving around the property annoying. Generic Food: The concessions are standard, forgettable stadium food setups. Nothing special or uniquely local worth buying. It's clear NYRA built this place for corporate event days and TV broadcasts rather than the regular horseplayer. Very underwhelmed. C at best.
