Delivered fast (arrived about 20min early) and the order was correct. I had the General Tsos Chicken and egg rolls. Everything tasted pretty good. I didn't upgrade to the white meat so maybe that's why there's a bit of filling in the General Tao's that seems less like chicken & a bit more like coating on the meat.... That said I still go back to Young Chow for the same meal every time :) it's the place we've grown to enjoy the most when we want Chinese food. I stopped here for lunch this week. By it being less than a mile from the capitol, I figured they had internet for their customers, especially during lunch. I asked the waitress for the password and she told me they didn't have Wi-Fi. I then search for local networks and I see the name "Young Chow." I've the ask again about the internet. First she tells me that the password doesn't work and in the same sentence she finishes it with, the internet is slow because of door dash, etc. Shortly after my colleague arrives, I explained to her that they do not offer internet. We both decided to leave and on the way out, the waitress said she would ask the owner for the internet information. Now which one was it? the food here is so good! i've had the vegetable lo mein twice and while the quality is inconsistent and variable, it's still been delicious both times. i also ordered the general tso's tofu last night and it was incredible. the service is really attentive and quick; i had a friend who has celiac and the server brought over some gluten free soy sauce for her so she could fully enjoy her meal. it was quiet and nice and i liked the wall of famous people. definitely will return when im in this neighborhood! read more

This review is for take out/delivery. Overall I would give 3.5, if half stars were a thing. We ordered lemon chicken, that came with white jasmine rice, and char siu Hong Kong style chow fun. Our order was ready for the delivery pick up pretty quickly. The food was packed well, I appreciate the sauce was packed separate from the chicken, to keep it from getting soggy. The lemon chicken was ok. Some pieces were heavily battered and the sauce was different from what I'm used to. The sauce was a little more orange in color, and I think had some pulp or something in it--it wasn't bad, just different. The chow fun had good amount of char siu in it and the ratio was good. It was a tad bit on the oily side. Price wise, it was a little expensive for Chinese food, but that might be just DC normal. read more

Their shrimp tempura is HUGE!! It was soooo filling and to be honest, the best shrimp tempura I've had in a very long time. They have tons of menu items, including a variety of vegan/vegetarian options. The service is very speedy, and the staff were very friendly! BUYER BEWARE!! I have bern a patron here for 7 years, and yesrerday the business misdelivered food to me, left with concierge. . I immediately called the driver, confused about the delivery thinking one of my neighbors may have ordered and they mixed the unit up. The driver insisted the order was for me and that it was paid for.I took the food in the house, opened the container, and thought maybe my husband ordered it to the house and five minutes or so later, the restaurant called me back, realizing they made a mistake and requested credit card payment at a 15% discount for the food. I declined to pay for their mistake and they requested to come pick the food up. I agreed to return rhe food, and maybe 20 minutes or so after the driver was back at my door to collect the food. This issue was a huge inconcenience to me. I never experienced anything like this before, but will think twice about food security because tit appears they may have taken the food back to redeliver tto another customer. Not sure why they would drive all the way back to pick up tampered food, but in this industry, you never know if mistakes could end up a future safety concern. You have to wonder if when these mistakes happen, are the vendors willing to cut a loss or just repackage tampered food to not lose money. I would take extra precaution when ordering from here. Im glad I did the right thing and notified the reatauramt, but also feel like my business was taken for granted by insisting I pay for their mistake. read more

I had to be in DC for work and was craving Chinese and Young Chow was one of the few restaurants that would deliver to this area (near the Mall). I ordered Kung Pao Tofu and I have a huge complaint. It was so good I may never accept any other version of Kung Pao again. I happen to love tofu, so perhaps others would not feel the same way, but this was tofu perfection. EGG ROLLS! EGG ROLLS! EGG ROLLS! So this is one of the last restaurants in DC that actually makes their egg rolls by hand. Most of the other restaurants order them from a central kitchen and they're basically spring rolls instead of eggrolls. I've never done drugs but this place is basically my eggroll dealer. Just last night I picked up six egg rolls 10 minutes before they closed and four of them are left. The rest of the menu is fantastic and they don't really skimp or cut corners on anything. The interior is very modest but let's be honest you're probably just doing takeout anyway or ordering on Postmates/Ubereats. We had orange chicken, I have never had anything so amazing, honey walnut shrimp...best shrimp I've had in my life, pineapple fried rice, so yummy, corn chicken soup! Pad Thai, wow! I ordered delivery through the Yelp app and was happy that the delivery was on time. That was about the only smile during the meal, though. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken (the next-to-spiciest level) and was surprised to see that it was legitimately the blandest I have EVER had anywhere. I almost went and got a magnifying glass to try to find some flavor, but would have turned up empty-handed. The chicken was dry and not fresh at all, although it did taste like it had perhaps been warmed up after having been cooked some time ago. I tried to doctor it up with soy sauce and whatnot at home but even that didn't do much. I also had the veggie spring rolls, which were hot (yay) but were oddly hard. I have finally found decent priced sushi in DC. Everywhere in this expensive town is, you guessed it, expensive. Sushi is already pricey, so the combination leads to some very unfortunate results. Young Chow's has a number of lunch specials that aren't just reasonable, but below market price. As a reviewer and a consumer, this is far and away what I care about most. While some of their other options are a bit pricier than fair market price, this place is the only one in DC I have found where that isn't the rule for the whole menu. Stop by here during the week from 11 AM - 2:50 PM for some delicious food for a great price. Additionally, service was great and the restaurant has great location and interior. Young Chow is my favorite Chinese restaurant on Capitol Hill. You'll find people from the Library of Congress' Asian Division and Capitol Hill staffers having lunch here. The Young Chow waitstaff are fast, friendly, and attentive.Young Chow features Hunan and Szechwan cuisine as well as Sushi. Young Chow was redecorated and reopened under new management in fall 2011. The change also introduced a completely new menu to the restuarant and relauched it as pan-Asian cuisine. The Hot and Sour Soup is still the best, thick and nicely flavored. Traditional Chinese dishes have been rethought. I like the Szechuan Chicken among them. (Soup included.) Sushi has been introduced as a new menu offering. The Lunch Combination offers a generous sampling of Sushi items, together with soup or salad. read more
