There were loads of kids tshirts reduced to £1 and I got a pair of boys combats reduced to 50p. As usual though, just like in every other shop there was tons of girls clothes but very little for baby boys in the sale so I was a little disappointed. The downstairs cash desk isn't very well designed, and it was a bit of a buggy battle as there's a large pillar just in front of one of the tills, and both myself and the next customer had babies with us, which totally gridlocked the area. Only a minor fault, but it was a bit annoying. I was there for ages because the cashier couldn't get the price right on 3 rolls of wrapping paper that were reduced to 25p - whatever she did it kept charging £1 each, so I had to wait for a supervisor. When I finally got back into the lift I checked my receipt and discovered I had been charged twice for something - only £2.50 but £2.50 is £2.50!!! I had to go up to the top floor (waiting on two cycles of the lift because it was busy) and wait at customer services to get a refund. Grrrr! The lady there was very apologetic but it was just annoying to have to do this - the 10 mins delay meant I had to pay an extra quid-odds for car parking so I was not a happy panda. The customer service was excellent and the prices were fab although you do get what you pay for and the quality isn't fantastic, but kids grow out of stuff so fast that it doesn't really matter. It's worth a visit if you're shopping on a budget - it is a massive store.

There is also a good section for lingerie/sleepwear, shoes and other accessories. Although there is a store in Meadowhall, it doesn't have anywhere near as good a selection on offer.

Tefal's Inicio Grill makes it easy to prepare perfectly-grilled meat, fish and vegetables, and press authentic Italian-style paninis at home. Packed with 2000W of power, this clever little appliance grills food fast, while its ingenious upright storage design means it's easy to stow in the smallest of spaces. The floating hinged lid adjusts to fit food and sandwiches of all sizes, so you can pile on the fillings to recreate your favourite coffee shop order. Its ridged plates leave those coveted grill marks behind, while ensuring an even heat distribution and speedy cooking time. The fixed plates are non-stick too, plus there's a removable, dishwasher-safe drip tray to capture excess fat. So sit back and enjoy healthy, grilled food knowing that clean-up won't be a chore at the end - just wipe the plates clean and pop the drip tray in the dishwasher! There's even a handy ready-to-cook light to let you know when to add your food for perfectly-grilled results, every time. Thank you Bensons Bargain Centre, very cool.

Bensons are a second hand shop that sells just about anything you can image, my Husband call it an Aladdin's for boys. So you won't find ladies fashions, shoes and hands bags, it more like fishing equipment, DVD's, video games and consoles, house hold appliances and spares, Hoover's, TV's DVD players, Bric-a-brac.like I said you name it, they probably sell it. And with being second hand the prices are always worth a look. The only problem you may have is loosing your husband for several hours while he browses:)

St Stephen's Shopping Centre is the main shopping centre serving the town centre of Hull in the…read moreEast Riding of Yorkshire, the location within the city is good, it's pretty much right next to the train station. The mall opened in 2007 and the interior still feels modern, especially in comparison to the rest of the city. It's pretty much a straight high-street-style walk throughout the mall, with a small number of food and drink outlets upstairs including Starbucks and Nando's. The main flagship store in the mall is a large Tesco supermarket, this remains open between 6 am and 12 am between Monday and Saturday, even when the mall shuts much earlier. Between the hours of 7 pm and 12 am when the mall is closed and Tesco is open, you can expect to be allowed to enter the mall, but only for Tesco with barriers in place. Again, I do find the mall shuts a little early, while the centre remains open until 7 pm, most of the stores end up closing an hour earlier and starting to wind down even before that. With the location of Hull pretty much in the sticks, with few alternatives nearby, this makes it even more frustrating for people who prefer to go out in the afternoons and evenings. The selection of stores within the centre is OK. Brands located here include Boots, EE, JD Sports, Superdrug, TK Maxx and a couple of others. The security at the front seemed friendly, and helped offer directions elsewhere in the centre, although they could have done with being inside the mall, due to groups of children loitering, and littering, which meant the mall was untidy and I was having to watch my step to avoid getting something stuck to my shoe. Again, lots of wasted potential, and the best out of a bad bunch of places to shop while in Hull. 3*
