Youth Central is a great initiative to support youth in the Western Adelaide region. The centre is open Monday-Friday for youth to spend time in. There is a reading corner, a pool table, and several tables where volunteers help students with their homework after school two days a week.
It's a friendly, fun place to be, and the women who run the programs here are always around to keep an eye on what's going on, and sometimes step in when behaviour is problematic.
Beyond the main room is a space for meetings, with a piano in the corner that people are welcome to use. Out the back there is a small garden with some solar power generators and a grey water system. This was designed and built by a group of youth, and is used as an sustainability education resource.
The centre is always looking for volunteers to help students with their study or to run programs. read more
