I think I'm turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really - really -really think so!
So having been here a few more times, I'm updating the review for Yume and I'm bumping up the score; because I can? nope! Because if I didn't, I would be doing this great little eatery a terrible disservice.
Japanese food is the highest culinary drama I can think of, and Yume Sushi is a true ambassador of Japan in this regard; the food is in-cred-ible.
The sushi inside out rolls are to die for, prepared fresh for you and simply heaven to eat with a wad of wasabi and dressed with preserved ginger.
Wagyu beef inside out rolls deliver that iron fisted punch of meat wrapped in delicately perfumed rice and dark green seaweed, lightly smeared with a bean-y-chilli-y hot sauce. Capital Y, Capital U, Capital M. Spider crab rolls are a particular treat as well.
I'm not terribly fond of raw fish, but I do eat it, and I like the preparation by Yume's Chefs - it is just a little on the too-big slice of life for me though, but thats just my personal preference.
Bento sets are generous - so generous that I have trouble finishing them usually, but rest assured that the tempura gets downed first! It's delicious, crunchy, and simple.
Service is great - I guess it couldn't be anything less in such a small space that provides full wait service (seriously its tiny!) But this "sliver" of Tokyo in Sydney has a massive impact in Drummoyne and you cannot go past it day in day out without noticing that every single seat is taken. So arrive early or late or during off peak, and enjoy! read more
