We were at a wedding reception that they catered. The hors ​d'oeuvre table consisted of a cheese and sausage tray, a fruit tray, barbecued meat balls, and fried chicken wings. The wings were juicy and tender. The meatballs were excellent. For the main course, I had pulled pork and the rib tips. I had the pulled pork. There was no bun, and the pork was bland with little or no sauce. It was tender and juicy, though. The ribs were tough and chewy. No sauce to go with them. I also had the macaroni and cheese. The macaroni was cooked ok, but the cheese was sticky and bland. I would have loved to put some bbq sauce on it. The green bean casserole was good but cold. There were other items I didn't try, but what I did have was mediocre at best. The meat ball appetizer was the best. This could have been my meal. read more

I have been trying get here for a long time, I called about 5 times over the last 1-1/2 years and since it's not close the no phone being answered killed some of those times. One time I asked if the ribs were ready and I was told one rack left so another no go. Yesterday I called and I was told that all the ribs would be available all day, yes I'm finally going to get the ribs. Please call your BBQ place first because the ribs are only available for dinner time at some places, FYI. Here's the bad sign, no smoke smell and that usually is not good so I would only do the half rack St Louis with two sides and play it safe. I learned a long time ago when I started my BBQ quest that BBQ comes in many different styles/flavors/ideas and opinions so I always keep an open mind even though I have my favorites and just report my experience. The place could be described as modern BBQ looking decor because the newer places seem to have rich color walls with the wood tables/chairs. The place is not filled with the hokey BBQ themed kitsch/cheesy pigs etc and just a nice casual place. The half rack of St Louis looked like non traditional BBQ because it had nice color/grill marks with no BBQ sauce and no bark really and no smokey smell. It looked more like Chinese BBQ with a cooked on glaze with out the deep reddish/brown color and smelled fuc%in amazing. The St Louis rack had the tips left on which I like and not all chopped up. The ribs were very tasty with a sweet flavorful seasoned taste which was more like Chinese BBQ. The texture was a little more chewy which I like because the super tender/mush fall off the bone is not my fav, this is very similar to Chinese BBQ which I like. The ribs had good flavor and no sauce was used, man these are really tasty I thought. It's sweet flavorful with a nice Char flavor that stands on its own and no way was I putting any sauce on them. My two sides was garlic mash and southern baked beans with a square of corn bread. The garlic mash was baby reds with good garlic flavor but overly seasoned and I'm not complaining. The southern baked beans were the least flavorful item but still good with pulled pork, onions, green peppers and black/brown beans, no can here because nothing was cooked to mush with the veggies having some crisp left in them. The BBQ sauce was not bad and on the tangy side which I'm going to use in something I make later. The corn bread was so moist/sticky/fresh, no saw dust puck here and if it were any moister/fresh it would be batter. Overall this was some tasty BBQ and even though its not Speed queen/Iron grate style but it still has its place for good ribs. If you want to expand your BBQ rib styles/tastes in the greater Milwaukee area than this is a must stop by, yah I'm a fan. read more

Walk in, order and pay at the counter. Food was ready quickly. Pretty typical of a BBQ joint, benches, wooden tables, self service soda and ice. Menu posted above the counter where you order. Ate pulled chicken and brisket sandwiches with cornbread and fries for sides. My wife enjoyed her chicken with no complaints at all. I had the brisket which was good too (tender, flavorful, a bit dry so it wasn't too greasy either). Not a large amount of meat on the buns, but I suppose you could order meat by the pound and ask for buns on the side? Buns were fresh, soft and good tasting. Large variety of BBQ sauces to choose from. We chose regular and Sweet Caroline. Regular is a somewhat smokey, slightly spicy, tomato based sauce as expected. The Sweet Caroline had a deep mustardy flavor, very little vinegar flavor, and several other flavors in it that I couldn't identify. Too strange for my liking. Cornbread soft and sweet. Stuck to your fingers and not too crumbly if that description helps. A sweet dessert! Declined the tip option when I paid for food when ordered (I don't like tipping at self serve places, and especially before I've had a chance to taste my meal!). I found myself in Port Washington just before lunch time and noticed Yummy Bones as I was trying to find a parking place near the port downtown. It was a little before 11 so I waited until they opened to have an early lunch. Since I had never been there before, I asked one of the employees about the menu and if they had any combos for buying multiple meats like most BBQ places do. She said that due to COVID-19 everything on the menu is a la carte at this time (I don't quite understand that rationale, but whatever). Though I wanted to try more meats than just the ribs, I couldn't justify the cost of a la carte meat, so I ordered a half rack of ribs, a small side of mac and cheese, and some cornbread. For my ribs I asked for their regular barbecue sauce and honey cinnamon barbecue sauce, which I thought sounded interesting. The ribs were the epitome of the term "fall off the bone". I literally grabbed the half rack in one hand and a bone-in the other and pulled it straight out cleanly. The meat itself tasted very good, but the honey cinnamon BBQ took it to a new level. That's the kind of sauce I wouldn't mind having bottles of at home and eating frequently. The regular BBQ sauce was fairly standard. The mac and cheese was a mushy elbow macaroni with some shredded cheese thrown in like some other BBQ places have. I didn't love the cracked black pepper in it, but in general it was better than most other places with similar mac and cheese. The cornbread was a disappointment. I'm assuming it was made at least the day before because it was cool/room temperature, a little on the dry side, and absorbed the taste of whatever container it had been kept in. Definitively not a BBQ place...I was looking forward to have some beef brisket and ribs which we did.Horrible from every aspect...not sure if this brisket is a new invention on how to make it ...super thin slices kept into a liquid to be worm and shoved into a large paper cup ,tasteless not smoked ...super odd ,the ribs where super dry and no taste at all don't think that the food is made on the site but more brought in ,they where put on the grill to warm them up .On the plus the staff was super friendly and accommodating. read more

I don't know how I could've been more disappointed. Was passing through town and this place had good reviews so I thought I'd give it a shot. I got a three meat sampler. The pulled pork was unremarkable but at least edible. Kind of hard to imagine how something can be sort of greasy and dry at the same time. The ribs were absolutely cooked beyond edibility. And the flavor was not very good. The brisket didn't really resemble any brisket I've ever seen it was so dry it was crumbly and there was so much pepper on it. You couldn't even taste the meat. We stopped here on our way home and we are glad we did. The smells when walking in were so good you could almost taste the food just from the smells. We had their pulled pork, pulled chicken, and beef brisket. The brisket melts in your mouth! Their corn bread was so good I took an order to go. Their sauces are homemade and to due foe. Fabulous BBQ. Any negative review had to come from somebody that has NO taste... literally. The meat... well, we will get to that. Beans..dang. Flavorful and nice serving size. Cole slaw. Wonderful, not the over mayo, runny slop typical of so many bbq places. Wonderful taste , texture and flavor. Okay.. I have not had ribs in 10 years. Mostly because it was like eating meat floss. Not here... the pork ribs had to come from hogs raised by The Rock or the Hulk. Hint of smoke and meat with perfect fat percent. The owner and his staff were great. Theres some really good grub here at Yummy Bones. I made the drive to do some Small Business Saturday shopping, and will return because the 'cue was just that good! The best barbecue is served in humble surroundings and that was true here. The kitchen is wide open with servers taking turns ringing up orders and plating food. Simple rough-hewn benches that are ginormous and hefty add to the rustic apoeal of Yummy Bones. The advertised special of 60-cent wings drew me here, but once I gandered at the menu and took an inventory of how much poultry I had eaten in the post-Thanksgiving apocalypse I settled on the pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mama Louise's Mac N Cheese and coleslaw. One side comes with a sandwich but i was glad to pay for the extra side because prices were reasonable. My sandwich was thick and hearty. It was piled high with hunks of pork which I had to pull out of the sandwich a bit before I could manage with my hands. Straight up sans sauce it was delicious, rubbed and slow-roasted, a mark of good barbecue. I went to the serving area where 4 bottles of sauce were on hand, 3 tomato based and one mustard based. This seems to be standard in barbecue joints and I did the finger taste test. I think I hit upon a Kansas-City based sauce (I like sauce the way I like my men - rich, sassy and just a touch sweet) and it delivered so I added some to my sammy. Back at the plank table, I enjoyed my food coupled with a view of the harbor. The cole slaw was vinegar based and chunky, with good texture and crunch. I enjoyed it solo and on top of my sandwich. But oh holy wow, that mac n cheese. Who is Mama Louise? I want to meet her and learn how she so perfectly married cheese and pasta into comfort food perfection. We came in on a quiet Saturday afternoon hoping this place would live up to its high yelp rating. It did not. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. Orders seemed to coming pretty quick. Well except ours. We just ordered a pulled pork sandwich with mac n cheese and a wing platter with fries and baked beans. If I didn't say anything about our missing order no one would checked on us. I had to give them my receipt to make the order -- they have a POS. No apologies given by the staff. Food was average at best. Wings were small with no flavor, fries just over raw, corn bread and baked beans were the best and they were the sides. The pulled pork and mac n cheese are nothing to write home about. My wings were not good, they were undercooked and not tasteful definately not done enough. The collard greens were full of vinegar not much else. My partner and I drove up from Chicago and we're visiting Port Washington for my birthday back about a year ago and had stumbled onto this BBQ restaurant. I love ribs and we have our fair share of BBQ restaurants in Chicago so we decided to try out Yummy Bones. We were surprised as to how great the food was. The staff was very nice and had made some suggestions. I had ribs and my partner had brisket. The meat was so tender and very flavorful. The wide variety of different sauces were amazing. Even more to our surprise we learned that they are all home made. Fries came out crispy, the mac and cheese was great as well as the corn bread. The food was so good that we decided to go back on the last day of our visit and it was once again awesome. After some months had passed, my partner were craving BBQ and I decided to take another drive up to Port Washington to have some ribs at Yummy Bones. The food was even better! First and foremost, the man (i regret not getting his name) serving me was very friendly. I ordered the brisket sandwich and the Mac N Cheese. That brisket sandwich is tender and juicy, add a little of their original sauce and that hit the spot. The Mac feels like home, you can feel the love put into it. Try it if you dont believe me. My husband is a total snob when it comes to BBQ and hasn't found many ribs better than the recipe he has perfected at home. However the ribs here were truly some of the best he has ever had. I don't even like ribs but I tried them and wanted more! Perfectly crispy on the outside, so flavorful you don't need sauce and so tender! We also got the pulled pork and pulled chicken. My BFF and I saw the good yelp reviews for this bbq place and went here for lunch yesterday (Wed, June 8) and ordered the meat bbq sampler ($23.99). We selected smoked brisket, wings and spareribs and a side of collard greens. We got there around 1:00 p.m. (there was only 1 guy and a family of 4) but 1 person working in the restaurant. We must have waited about 25 minutes for our meal. I used to think that bad bbq is still good bbq (as I love all things bbq). But bad bbq is really really bad when you actually come to a place that had bad bbq. This is one of those places. The smoked ribs tasted like they made this 2 days ago and just slapped it on the grill to warm it up. The wings were meh. The brisket was really gross. This was not the usual brisket bbq places usually serve. This brisket tasted like it was boiled and then reheated on their grill. It was this chopped up and shards of meat (not the usual sliced thick slabs of brisket). I cannot describe how gross the brisket was. I cannot believe this place received good reviews. Everything was tasteless and super dry as well. I am thinking people that posted good reviews have not had good authentic smoked bbq at a good restaurant. And on top of that, the meat bbq sampler was ridiculously small. For the $23.99, we received 5 ribs, 5 tiny wings and 1/2 (seriously, it was only half a cup) of brisket (see picture). We tried 3 bbq sauces and they all tasted like it had perfume in it. The collard greens were not good either. This is not an authentic or good bbq place. Wow! My wife and I have been here twice in the last month, doing take out given the virus. Our meals have been fantastic both times. This time we decided to start off with the 6 smoked wings - spicy. Normally my wife is the one who can take the heat, they were too much for her. Me; I thought they were fantastic! So much flavor and yet still tasted like perfect chicken, not spiced so much that you lose the taste and texture of good chicken. I love their dry rub treatment so much. The pulled brisket served on a very fresh bun was seriously melt in your mouth tender. The flavor was amazing and the sauce variations are great. I went for their hot and was not disappointed. My wife ordered the pulled the pulled smoked chicken and said it was amazing. We shared a large Garlic Mashed and they were very much in-line with expectations. Nice texture and flavor. A nice balance of garlic. We also shared a large house-made Slaw. I'm a fan of both creamy and dry, my wife is a dry slaw person. This slaw made both of happy, perfect flavors all around. We found the service to be fantastic and very mindful of sanitation as needed these days. Our only problem was a difficulty in communicating our order between the thick plastic shield and the exhaust system in operation. A very minor problem indeed. Perhaps check list menus or the like might help. I'm older, so, perhaps it's my diminished hearing as well. The staff was fantastic, very friendly, even when we checked back in to see the status of our order at the estimated time and when it was ready. I fully believe that the next time we travel a few miles north from Milwaukee to Port Washington we will get food here and then go to the park to see the lake and enjoy a great meal. I was staying at the hotel next door and had stuff to eat in my room but wanted a BBQ sandwich to go with what I had. I was shocked when I stepped in & saw the prices on the sign on the wall & almost walked out but decided I'd go ahead and try bc surely it is a BIG sandwich. I get that good BBQ isn't cheap but coming from Texas & Oklahoma, a good BBQ brisket sandwich, with a side of BBQ beans, potato salad & drink runs in $9-10 range. This sandwich was $8.99 plus Tax. The sign said it included a pickle spear and could be made a meal for an additional $4. I didn't want a when meal so I got my sandwich to go and went to my room. Upon getting to my room and opening the sandwich box, my pickle was missing and the sandwich that was not large! I gave it a 2-star rating due to price. OMG!!!! Fantastic BBQ! Went there with friends and we got either pulled pork or beef brisket sandwiches. The meat in both was super tender. They didn't cook it in sauce, but instead had 6 flavors of BBQ sauce on the table to choose from. My favorite was the peach sauce- sweet and mild! Friendly service to top it all off. She had a craving for pizza, but the pizza place down the street was closed so we popped in here and I'm glad that we did. I'll take a nice set of ribs over pizza any day. No, no, no, no, no. The reviews are not consistent with the experience. Ate there on 10/30 at 5:30 PM. There was no one else in the place. Hmmm. First, when I asked some simple questions about how they smoked (e.g. on-site or transport in, pellet or stick, etc.) I got no response other than "I'm not the boss so I cant talk about it.". That should have been a bad sign, since these types of questions of other pit masters have often resulted in kitchen tours with technique discussions that only stopped short of secret ingredients. Second, there is no BBQ smell at all in the place. Zero. Where does the smoke go? Last, the hot food was all room temp at best, like it had been sitting for a while. I can't say for sure they really cook on sight I will stipulate the the meat itself tasted fine, could have had a bit more rub, but fine. However, the total package was pretty poor. The pulled pork was mushy, indicating to me that it had been sitting for a while in its own juice with a little heat on it. Definitely overcooked and with an oiliness to it that was really odd. The four bone rack of baby backs was burned on the ends, rendering the last 3/4 inch of meat inedible. Even after the discussion that indicated I knew something about BBQ, they chose to serve me burned ribs. Ribs that I wouldn't have served at home. (I know, I could have asked for a re-serve, but shouldn't they have had the good sense not to serve them?) The sides were not any help. The beans were pretty spiritless and lukewarm, with nothing to recommend them in the future. The jalapeno slaw was dry and the overwhelming flavor was heat without the creaminess you expect from good slaw. I cannot recommend without real improvement. read more
