Yummy choice is a solid lunch option, especially if you work downtown. This place is walking distance from work so it's in our weekly rotation. I usually go for the pork banh mi which is good but not the best I've ever had. The sandwich is big and the meat is tasty but the bread is kinda hard and can be tough to chew. The spring rolls and pot stickers are decent and overall I'm usually satisfied with my meal. The price point is good for what you get. Overall 3.5/5

Overall: 4/5 Food Taste: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Came here for lunch and grabbed a Pork Bahn Mi. The line was out the door, but it moved quickly. The Bahn Mi was SOLID! The most important things are the BREAD and the MEAT. The meat was juicy, tender and sweet. The bread was fresh, the fasho got it this morning! Definitely a SOLID choice and super affordable prices! This is not the best Bahn Mi out there, but for lunch downtown under $9, this hits the spot!

This is a mom n pop ran family business. It's just the both of them churning out the food, Monday - Friday 10am-2pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is tiny and divey. It's counter service with some outdoor patio seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's always busy during the weekday lunch with a line out the door. The line moves relatively quick though. The menu has Vietnamese, Chinese, and American options with the likes of shrimp spring rolls, banh mi, teriyaki chicken, fried rice, Vietnamese beef stew, burgers, and fries just to name a few. Food is basic and tasty. Classic fare. I've had their banh mi, both the grilled chicken and grilled pork. $7.99. The sandwiches are loaded with meat and are a hefty size. The meat is tender with good flavor. The baguette is classic banh mi. Soft interior with crunchy, flaky top crust. Top notch, I have also ordered the Vietnamese beef stew. The broth is pretty darn tasty, it has the classic tangy bright profile. The chunks of braised beef is tender and fork shreddable. If you order this, just be aware it will take longer to prepare because they will need to heat a batch. They use a pot on the stove and not a microwave for that. The stew is served with a whole baguette, the same ones used for the banh mi.

Wonton Soup. Great flavor. If you're Vietnamese there is a very nostalgic flavor to this soup.

Coming in, the place is SMALL. It reminds me of coming into someone's home and waiting in the kitchen for the food to be done cooking because they make most of the items on the spot. I'd say getting Vietnamese food such as banh mi, spring rolls, vermicelli noodles, pho, soup, etc. is a solid choice. It is not the best and is slightly overpriced compared to the places in South Sacramento but compared to the prices downtown.. It is definitely on the lower end and tasted good enough for me to keep coming back. The owners are also really cute and friendly. Some of the Chinese food looked kind of sketchy so I have not tried it so this review is based on mainly the Vietnamese food choices.

I stopped at Yummy Choice impulsively while walking by on my way to a meeting. I had some time before my meeting and when I saw they had Banh Mi options on the menu I was sold. It's a small shop, great for quick to-go orders. They have some ready made hot options as well as items they make fresh when you order. I had to get the grilled pork Banh Mi and saw that they had grilled meat pork spring rolls so I bought them as well. They have fountain drinks, bottled drinks and iced tea available for drinks and they have utensils and sauces available to grab before you head out. My sandwich only took a few minutes to be ready and they handed me a bag with my items while I was taking some photos. The sandwich was huge and the spring rolls were stuffed, probably some of the biggest spring rolls I've had in a while. Everything tasted great. The bread was soft and fluffy and the sandwich as a whole was great, I loved the crunchy veggies with their sauce and the pork. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu soon.

I really love this small lunch spot for the Vietnamese soups, spring rolls and salads. But they also have many other items on the menu. To my surprise today, they are now serving cold or hot sandwiches and hamburgers and fries. This is a husband and wife owned restaurant, they are super friendly and make delicious food. There will also soon be more seating outside, stop by and give them a try for lunch!

2 item lunch special with chow mein, lemon grass pork, and steamed vegetables.

I keep coming back for the lemongrass grilled pork so I can't speak to anything else just yet. I'm from the SGV, born and raised, and my Vietnamese flavor preferences lean Canto: this lemon grass pork tastes like home. It tastes like the thit nuong i grew up eating tastes like. Being specific because i think different communities cook their dishes differently so it comes down to preferences and what you're used to. I've been unimpressed by charbroiled pork at other spots in Sac so far because it's usually not enough charbroiled enough and too saucey or overly marinaded. I get the 2 item combo with chow mein and plain veggies. The two side items are on the lighter flavor profile side but for me they are the perfect balance with the pork. I'd definitely do the rice noodle w fish sauce except the portion is pretty large so fish sauce drenched vermicelli and lettuce wouldn't keep very well. I'm usually able to split my order into two different meals so it's quite a bit of food. Also love that it's made by an uncle and auntie. Support small businesses!

My favorite go to spot for lunch when I am in the office in DT Sac. I typically order the pork Banh Mi sandwich at Yummy Choice for lunch. Great lunch price and as you can see in the pic, they pack it with meat! So good!

This review is solely for the Spring Rolls. My friend brought me Spring Rolls and a Thai Tea. This is probably the best spring roll I have ever had. The peanut sauce even had a nice kick to it. The tea was yummy too. My friend ordered food and hated it that she tossed it. Not sure what she ordered.

The location was a bit odd, as there were barely any other businesses nearby. There is street parking that you can pay for. It's a fairly small restaurant. We were were seated pretty quickly. Service was very friendly. I would say that portions were pretty reasonable. Things we ordered: -Pineapple fried rice: Very fragrant with the char and flavorful. Seasoned very well. We opted for mild spice on this. I would order this again. -Chicken pad thai: Done very well! Some places the pad thai is too sweet, but this one was very balanced and had a good tamarind flavor. Medium spicy was a bit on the spicy side, but perfect for me! Would order this again. -Duck larb: Unique, but I couldn't tell it was duck. My partner enjoyed this more than I did. The portion for the larb was on the smaller side and it came with some lettuce, radish, carrots, cucumbers. -Mee kati ground pork: A very unique dish that not many Thai restaurants seem to have, in which it came with noodles, and a variety of toppings like beans sprouts, lettuce, green beans, peanuts, and cilantro. It came with a fermented curry gravy, and it delicious! I would totally order this again. -Green Thai tea: Quite fragrant and not too full on half and half like some other places have it. It's also not as sweet as another local Thai restaurant. I would actually order this again. -Classic Thai tea: Strong Thai tea flavor, also not too sweet. Overall, Hiso was a great Thai/Lao restaurant and I would totally come back and recommend this place!

We also ordered the Tum Luang Pra Bang, green papaya salad with fermented fish sauce. I will say, the execution and the quality of ingredients were superb, I personally couldn't get past the flavor, but my mom, a stronger SEA woman, loved it! The staff was very nice and polite. The ambiance was very cute, gave cafe/small restaurant vibes. I have been in the area for awhile and this place has been a revolving door of restaurants. I hope this one sticks!

Before that, I remember when this spot used to be Tasty House. Small parking lot shared with a smog station off of Stockton Blvd between Fleming and Chandler/66th, a block south of Florin. Super small dining room capacity too, I'd say maybe less than 50 people? I've also tried their pork katsu appetizer and caramel matcha with salted cheese cream. This most recent visit, I was torn between the katsu or katsu curry donburis, but ultimately went with the tamagoyaki unagi don and a caramel milk tea. Shared the chicken karaage which was perfectly breaded, crispy, thick and juicy with every bite just like last time. Honey mustard dipping sauce on the side. Also shared one sushi taco (this time salmon/sake) and Mom got the beef gyudon. Other than matcha or milk tea, they also have seasonal drinks like guava, butterfly tea, ube, peach oolong, Japanese coffee, etc. Next time might go for a ramen to try or that rich curry udon dish. I will also say a sushi taco is easier to eat than a handroll or a sushi burrito. The wooden spoons were interesting for the rice bowls. The portions are pretty big and this cute little spot in South Sac is worth checking out! Open 11:30am-9pm daily.

I also always take friends and family visiting here and it never disappoints. The yelp wait is pretty accurate, so I recommend joining before you head over to avoid having to wait there. Last time I went and checked, it was about an hour wait so I joined it and did some grocery shopping nearby before going there. I've had everything on the menu so it's up to the point where it depends on what I'm feeling. Everything on the menu is different so it's not too hard to choose. If I want something soupy, I'll go for the crab udon, if I want rice, the fried rice, something full of flavor, the Banh Mi Chao, something light, then the Banh Khot (good option since they don't make Banh Xeo on the weekends). The last time I went 07/04/2026, I noticed on the wall they were having a special, Bun Bo Hue, which I love when I go to pho restaurants. I'm not sure if it's new or I've been blind this whole time, but it did not disappoint. It was full of flavor, and it was nice that they put the spicy paste on the side for you to adjust the spiciness. I love spicy foods but one of my friends do not, so it was easy for us to enjoy our meal. It was also not just a spicy sauce to add; there was a past along with it. Shrimp paste maybe? I didn't ask, but it enhanced the flavor, so I recommend using it. Their sister restaurant, Me's Kitchen is next on my list to try. Can't wait!

I just wished they gave more lettuce or at least allowed refills. More veggies was an extra charge. The xôi thập cẩm and bánh mì chảo were also good. The cà phê dừa was blended so it was more smoothie-like. The sweet coconut balanced out the strong coffee. Overall, we had a great and filling lunch. This planta is a crossover of naan with Mochi like middle with the prefect crisp served with an amazing Chicken sauce. Yah...will be having this again. Hubby had most of it because I was saving my appetite for what's to come. *TeaLead Salad - Yes its a MUST. The fried seasoned garlic is the secret to why this salad hits the palate in the most perfect way. The dressing is oil based which wasn't over powering or even greasy. The peanut was tastefully done. Yes - I ate most of it. Fresh ingredients in every bite. *Chili Basil Beef - at first glance, it looked like Mongolian Beef but far from the taste. The cumin, ginger and chili flakes gave this dish the wow factor. Mind you, I dislike ginger pieces and didn't come across one piece so they must have used ginger powder which I appreciate. We all know the benefits of ginger and I feel like I got a dose of it without biting into one. *PadThai - we were warned that the Burmese way come with a hint of sweetness and this was definitely true but notoverpowering. The staff was super friendly and helped me make some decisions for my order and recommended the umami udon special, which I'm so happy about. The food was made fresh and took a little bit, but was packed with care and was nice and hot. I took it home to enjoy and the food was still hot and the portion sizes were really generous. The Umami Udon was amazing, it had perfectly cooked udon noodles that had a great chew in a creamy teriyaki sauce with smokey bacon, mushrooms, onions and garlic. It was a great mix of sweet and savory and lived up to it's umami name. I would order this again and again, it was so good. The Build Your Own bowl was also delicious and I can see why the chicken katsu is a customer favorite. The veggies were fresh and the fried rice was really flavorful. The Spam Musubi had thick slices of spam with a nice marinade and came with sauces for dipping. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.
