The sashimi and nigiri were beautiful and generous portions. The volcano roll and pan fried pork gyozas were delicious. I'm not usually one much for special rolls but my partner shared his volcano roll with me and I really enjoyed it. The service was great! Our server checked on us throughout the meal but wasn't overbearing. When we requested extra wasabi and ginger she brought it right away. There was a delay between my partner receiving the items he ordered and when I received mine. We didn't say anything about it but when they brought us our bill they had given us a discount which we appreciated. We will definitely be back! read more

Not really knowing what to find in Abbotsford and staying at the Sandman Hotel and Suites, I googled "restaurants" near here... to my surprise a sushi restaurant showed up... to my surprise it garnered 3.9 stars... to my surprise it only had two reviews and just a few photo's... to my surprise Yelp is not a big thing in Abbottsford Canada... since there are few reviews on most sites and little or no photos on those sites... so going here was a stretch for me... but the distance made the gamble worth the chance... to be quite honest my experience for Canadian food hasn't been the greatest... Overall the places I've been to have been with a tour group on the East coast and most were 3 stars or lower... I compared that to Costco food... the first thing I was going to do is take more pictures and take the picture of the menu, for others like myself to take a look at what's available to eat... and hope for the best... I was not expecting the place to be run by Japanese speaking owners and staff! Call me racist (even though I am Japanese) but most places in SoCal are run by other Nationalities and the cooks are not Japanese either... so even hearing Japanese from Japanese was awesome... The first thing the waitress brought was hot tea... how many Japanese places serve you hot tea before ordering? Impressed... then I looked on the menu and there were bento boxes... nice... it all sounded delicious... but there were no pics to back that up... so we just had to wait... I got the Beef Bento Box and Nancy got the Chicken Bento Box dinner... first up the Miso soup... nice... little pieces of tofu and gobo... just like I like... and served hot... 8/10... then something new... points for new... sunomono cucumber soba noodle dish... tasted like typical cucumber dishes like we get at Matsu's, Huntington Beach, CA but this was a few slices of fresh cucumbers and carrots and soba noodles... refreshing and new... 7/10 but bumped it to 8/10 because I never had it before and will look forward to getting it again... Next the main course... massive and easily could have split it... it came with salad, excellant just like Kabuki, HB salad, 9/10 freshly made with the house dressing... chicken karage, 9.5/10, perfect fry, crunchy outside and moist inside... came hot... shrimp tempura and vegetables... 10/10... one of the best shrimp tempura ever... no joke... at least in my book, maybe it was because I set the food bar so low it had to go up... they also added an onion ring and squash with the sweet potato... the Dynamite Roll... another name was a Crunchy Roll... 10/10... it was a California Roll with a fried shrimp in between... normally that would be a California Roll if any... and it came as a whole roll! Finally, the Beef Teriyaki on top of a bed of stir fry veggies... the beef was good... I prefer beef steak like Kabuki's... but I was not expecting that here... 7.5/10... the stir fry veggies underneath a surprise 8/10, delicious finally chopped broccolli, cabbage, onions, and carrots so small it was really good... everything on Nancy's plate was the same but the Teriyaki Chicken... 9.5/10... perfect... she mentioned it was some of the best tasting Teriyaki chicken she's tasted... Hahahaha, I'm sure I have Canada's record for the longest review that nobody will read ever... and the most single pics on a website in Abbotsford ever... Oh well... hoping this business thrives up here... if not they can come to my neck of the woods and get a lot of love from a lot of Yelper's! It's under new ownership... I have tried many sushi restaurants in Abbotsford, this one is my favourite. Their sushi is fresh, tastes great. Price is reasonable and there portions are great. We eat several different rolls, cones and nigiri. Same great quality and service every time. read more

It's my go to sushi place. The staff are always friendly with great service. The sushi is what keeps me coming back.

The good: fresh ingredients. Sushi and sashimi comes out fresh and the right temp (hate warm sashimi) The not so good: at least for that night, basic service was lacking (tea please or a warm smile). Prices are probably marginally higher than what you could get outside Abbotsford. Seats are uncomfortable. It you are at least 170lbs...your behind will be forced to smile a lot! We came here for dinner the other night and we were pleased with our experience! Way better than the other place we went to earlier this week. I thoroughly enjoyed my salmon and tuna sushimi as well as the complimentary fried California rolls and everything else we ordered. The hand rolls were beautifully made and packed with filling. This used to be one of my favorite 'go to' sushi places back when I lived in Abbotsford. However, it seems that ownership has changed in the past year or so; prices for a majority of the dishes have gone up $0.50-1.50, while the quality and portions have decreased. I ordered the Korean Chirashi don and was not impressed. When the waitress brought out a big fancy bowl with floral designs, I thought I was in for a treat... but there was barely anything. A palm-full of rice, couple pieces of vegetation, and some of the most disappointing sashimi that I have ever eaten; they were not the traditional block cuts, but instead they were long stringy butchered pieces that looked like leftovers from preparing someone else's dish. The spicy sauce was the only redeeming quality. I also had a California roll that struggled to stay intact when picked up. For the cost of the Chirashi don alone, I could have gone to an ayce sushi restaurant like Midori or Sagano (just down the road) for a more filling experience. The atmosphere is still pleasant as the booths are comfy and clean. Unfortunately, they do not give out desert at the end of the meal as their predecessors. We took the kids here after a full day at Cultus Lake. The staff was friendly and we really appreciated how fast everything came out after we put our order in. absolutely ridiculous, i called in to ask about the free roll i had been previously offered (you can see it on google reviews, it was 3 weeks ago) and the owner yelled at me and told me to cancel my order. i am so shocked. I had ordered dinner for tonight because i wanted to give this restaurant a fair chance to redeem themselves from the last time i had ordered. she said she had NO IDEA about me being offered a free roll and that they would never offer that. This WAS one of the best Sushi restaurants in Abbotsford, well it was when the old owners ran the place. Do not know what happen but the new people running Yummy have a lot to learn and fast. To be far the Miso soup Nice and set the stage for the rest of the food, boy was I wrong. The sunomono no flavour, tempura no flavour... had to ask to get more tea also had to ask for soy sauce for the table, servers have little experience dinner boxes (chicken teriyaki) 1 mil of oil on the bottom of the bowl, but the chicken was nice soft / moist. The over all experience was bad, and I could not even find a way to tip them. Will never be going back to Yummy again and will have to find a new place to get our sushi from, though that is getting harder now in Abbotsford as most place have gone the way like Yummy BAD BAD BAD... if you want to find a good sushi place do not go here and look in another town, really another town. read more

We placed a large order ($160) online. Get there only to find they thought the order was a joke and hadn't made it. They had our contact information, and could have confirmed but chose not to. So now we wait around for over 40 minutes while they make it. Get home and realize they forgot to give us almost half our order. It was just sitting on the counter. The spicy agedashi tofu is THE BEST tofu I've ever had in my life. I don't know what's in their secret sauce recipe, but it's incredible. I was less than impressed when I ordered the Fried Chicken and asked for no sauce and then got it with sauce. When asked to make it without sauce, they flat out refused even though I had ordered it in the past like that with no issues? How difficult is it to not put the sauce on it? Obviously this restaurant makes enough money that they don't feel the need to make their customers happy. Ordered food online... went to pick up after 30mins and they didnt even start it because they didn't even know we ordered it. Gave us a 20 min wait time and it turned in to 35 mins. I used to live this place was my favorite sushi joint in Abbotsford but I will never go back again after getting brown tuna(not slightly off colour but like BROWN) was wasabi that isn't wasabi at all.
