Why 5 stars? Because the breakfast tacos were all that I hoped they would be…read more --- --- --- When a place has 4.9 stars, it's basically impossible that it's gonna be bad. I'd wanted to try La Cocina for a while for that reason and those plans finally came to fruition. You walk up to a counter that has all the ingredients for taco making right in front of you. The guy asks you how many you are going to want, and if you want flour or corn, so he can let them know in the back to make your tortillas fresh. About 2 minutes later, out came our tortillas. I ordered 3: one with eggs and bacon, one with some kind of egg and sausage combo and one non-breakfast taco with fajita meat. The fajita taco was just okay, but the breakfast tacos had me thinking about them for hours after the fact. They aren't very big, so if you're a growing boy like me, I'd aim for 4-5 of them. The guy behind the counter tried to guide us into his suggestion of 2 each, but I jumped in and said make it 3 for me. If I could go back in time, I would have done 4 and made them all the breakfast variety. Both breakfast tacos were straight bangers from another dimension. All the sauces were great and none were too spicy. I might have to return to this place sooner rather than later because I really did think about it the rest of the day. I love you, La Cocina.

I usually rock with Chycho's. Their burritos? Fire. Like, "I'd fight my own cousin for the last…read morebite" level. But today... today Chycho's betrayed me on a spiritual level. I ordered a chicken quesadilla thinking I was about to enjoy a nice, chill meal. Instead, what I got looked like someone folded a tortilla over a crying, unprepared chicken and sent it out to die again. First red flag: It wasn't even cut. Just one sad, floppy tortilla blanket with vibes of "I gave up halfway through." Second red flag -- and the one that sent me into survival mode: I opened it up and saw chicken that was straight-up pink and red like it was auditioning for a role as "Still Alive #3" on Animal Planet. That meat wasn't undercooked -- it was practically begging to go back in the coop. I stopped eating immediately because I'm 99% sure I avoided a speedrun of food poisoning. My stomach already sent me a text message saying, "We not doing this today." The worst part? Chycho's knows they can do better. Their burritos slap every time. But this quesadilla? This was a cry for help from the kitchen. Somebody in the back said, "Cook it? Nah, let's just warm it up enough to trick him." Absolutely disgusting. I've never left a review before, but this quesadilla unlocked a new level of disappointment in my soul. Fix it, Chycho's. I still want to love you -- but I'm not trying to meet God over a $10 quesadilla.

Fruiteria, I now understand this is a vegetable market.. everything you would need for Mexican dishes, fresh and ready for adding to your meals along with a refrigerated area with milk, eggs, beer(!) and most anything you can imagine... Carniceria means a fresh meat market, meat preseasoned and ready for the grill and steaks that are not.. all looking ready to go... And taqueria, a kitchen or grill serving in house soups and meals.. making some of the best home made plates around. Needless to say, this was a first time visit... I did not know what to expect but thanks to a referral, I'm glad I did!! Clean, huge, over whelming yet intimate.. the variety of canned goods, fresh veggies, refrigerated items and a kitchen blending all these fresh contents together for some awesome dishes ... Ooops! I forgot about the dessert too!.. And, the staff are very friendly and helpful offering free taste samples of all the weekend specials... (Which filled me up!) Wow! Bottom line , this is my new favorite for menudo... awesome flavor, contents are spot on great (with onion.. a first!), and the barbacoa was awesome!! We ordered to go and for the first time, we couldn't eat it all.. we have leftovers!! Las Tarascas will be a prime resource for great food and all my immediate grocery needs... Worth a visit for sure!! Just my opinion.

Asked for one of those thimble sized containers for salsa and the cashier said it actually doesn't come with salsa. Dang. First time I've been denied salsa at a Mexican restaurant. That's like a Chinese store denying someone soy sauce. He said they sell salsa. But when I saw it it's like a full jar. I just wanted some for my chips. Nuts. But in all fairness when he saw the consternation on my face he gave me a couple of the thimble containers. I mean I would've eaten them dry still. America is just coming to the brink of despair. Soon McDonald's gonna be charging for ketchup is my guess.

The place is small so to-go is good and they have lots of to-go family meal options too. The staff was good but the cashier was a bit slow at taking orders with some customers. I ordered: - Carnitas taco on corn - very good - shredded chicken on corn - highly recommend! Of you ever had pazole it tastes like your chicken in drenched in the broth, yum! - queso blanco - not impressed but it was ok. Chips are delicious so recommend some to-go or with salsa. - Mexican coke - the real stuff too! They have a fridge of salsas to grab for your table. I liked them all so it's your preference. The tacos are big portions why they gave me two tortillas. I basically made two tacos out of one order. Awesome deal for $3.25 a taco! I want to try carne asado which I feel will be worth the $1 up-charge. And try the nopales to see how they make theirs. Only complaint I have is the menu. You can't see it until you are close in line. I want a menu I can view while in line waiting. This way the line runs faster. Lastly the menu transitions are distracting when trying to read the menu. I say turn off the transitions, they are more frustrating than a cool feature. I will be back.

I initially googled birria tacos near me and seen a review say something along the lines of 'their birria tacos are to die for' so I had to try them out. Thank you to whoever posted that review! It was actually like 5 minutes up the street, which was so convenient. It's next to the store/gas station. Plenty of options for parking, but there's not any traditional parking lines or spaces. I just parked near the side. Also, I believe they ONLY take cash! Of course I ordered the birria tacos and ate them there. They were pretty good and I could definitely see myself coming back (especially for the convenience). I will say that I've had better (I'm a huuuuge authentic taco lover & I've had plenty of birria tacos from different places/cities). I would give them a 8/10. I was looking for it to be more on the "messier" side (packed with meat, real cheesy, loaded with onions and cilantro), but theirs was more on the conservative side lol which I'm glad they took their time making it, but I like my birria real messy! I did find another birria spot but it's 20 min away so I would still come back due to convenience. Overall great tacos!
