In my search, I have gone to a few trial classes around the area but could not find the same intensity, the aggression, skills, and the same workout that I was used to getting in Chicago. I was about to give up on my search until one day I stumbled across Caliber 3 on one of my random Sunday morning searches and thought that I would check it out. I was immediately impressed with their facility, none that I am used to, not your typical neighborhood hole in the wall gym. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I could tell that they were passionate about teaching and everything that they do as they were walking me through the facility as well as giving me a history on Caliber 3, originating from Israel and how they wanted to bring their knowledge to the U.S. The instructors are the real deal, all first hand skills and teachings from former IDF. They are great teachers, accommodating to anyone that wants to learn. May you be young or old, nerd or athlete, beginner or advanced, first timer or Bruce Lee. From the beginning, we were welcomed by professor Silva with open arms as well as every member that attended this school . Professor Silva is a fantastic instructor. He has patience poise and grace has an amazing background in martial arts and physical fitness. Professor Silva has an amazing gift for the art of instruction. You also have high level black belts coming in to assist with additional instruction. There are several seminars that are going through throughout the year from top level jujutsu practitioners ! Even during times I was not able to attend due to injuries from my profession , from the professor down to white belts, they welcome me back with open arms. My son is a purple belt has been going since he was 12 years old and he is now 20, he attends college and whenever he has time he drops in and they welcome him like he was there yesterday! It was super cool to see Sifu Smith as the head instructor of the Oceanside school, as he was one of the senior instructors present for my Purple Sash test all those years ago. The environment is clean, very positive, very supportive and is great for all ages. What I love the most is learning useful techniques and forms while getting a great workout. We just had our annual tournament at Viejas Arena at SDSU and it was an excellent experience.
