The tzatziki sauce taste like a low-grade sauce its very bland. The pita bread also I could tell it's not a good quality Pita. And then the portion size is ridiculously small compared to other restaurant, gyros. I can totally understand why they only have 3.6 reviews. I order an Uber eats and if I seen this ready, I will not have ordered from here. I'm a big foodie and do food reviews on my experiences so I always try to go to places that are 4.7 or more. My love picked up a surprise dinner from Za'atar Mediterranean Grill (also Zaatar MedGrill) one evening. We split an order of falafel, a spinach pie, and the straightforward-sounding meat assortment plate. There are six pieces of falafel in an order, and they tasted good with the tahini sauce. Sometimes tahini sauce is too thin and soupy, but this cup of tahini sauce was nice and creamy. The spinach pie was pretty good too. The meat assortment plate could not be finished by the two of us in one sitting. This meal contained three kinds of meat (chicken kabob, beef kabob, and kafta meat), grilled onions and peppers, as well as rice and salad, and some pita bread. We both agreed that we liked the kafta meat the best. There was also a cup of some reddish hot sauce that I dabbed gingerly on the meat. read more

Placed an order for delivery. First time ordering from Zaatar and will not be my last. Had the vegetarian sampler that came with tabouleh, hummus, babaganoush, falafel, and doulmas. Wish I had ordered extra pita with it since I ate everything with my fingers using the two pita slices. Also ordered a salmon wrap that came stuffed with bell pepper, onions, and hummus. This will be a go-to menu item. Used some of the chili sauce that came with it and that kicked the flavor up that much more. Have not gone to the restaurant for dine-in or takeaway, so I can't speak to in-house service. Coming back from a road trip, we were too tired to think about cooking and wanted to order something that came with a good amount of vegetables to cancel out a little of the vacation eating. We ordered the feta fries, falafel wrap and meat combo plate. I can only speak for the first two. The fries were good, although I'd like them more with a little garlic and lemon added to the feta. The wrap was good as well, but I'm not sure all of the stated veggies were on it. I didn't notice any pickles and couldn't tell if there was jerusalem salad. Either way, it was tasty with some garlic and hot sauce on it. I'm not sure if it comes with it normally, but I inquired in my order notes. Husband seemed to enjoy his meat platter too. We also ordered some of the Za'atar hummus to snack on later too. It wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped, but still pretty good. Very tasty but I'm a little confused.... I ordered on Uber Eats and this Place is called Habibi Mediterranean Grill on there. See screenshot - the addresses match up and my food looks like some of the previous reviews. Regardless! I had the meat platter over rice and it came with a side of hummus and salad and pita. Also ordered a side of falafel. Delicious! Wow. The meat was cooked perfectly. Beef was tasty but the grilled chicken - WOW. I'm not one to rave about grilled chicken because it's normally bland or dry or unforgettable but this was the most juicy yet perfectly cooked chicken I have tasted in a long time. Rice was tasty. Hummus was good but could use a tiny bit of salt or lemon. Salad was fine, nothing special. Pita was tasty too. The falafel are excellent! They're massive and very dense but not dry at all. Tahini on the side is good but the garlic sauce that came with my food went even better with them. Highly recommend this place. Good value. Didn't respect food allergies at all. I ordered delivery and was assured when ordering that the feta cheese was 100% goat cheese. I told them when placing the order I am allergic to cow's milk, dairy but not goat or sheep. Upon delivery and then eating the food, I felt immediately sick. When I called back, I was put between 3 different people on the phone who were laughing the whole time as I explained again I have an allergy to cow milk but not goat or sheep milk and I need to know what I just ate. By the end of the call, the team were laughing and saying "the cheese is 100% feta" and when I ask "from which animal? Is it a blend?" They told me "probably cow? It's cheese" and hung up. Went to Bucktown to visit and my daughter and she said this was her go to Mediterranean place. I know she has a keen sense for good food and being the daughter of a so called foodie , I was all too eager to try Zaatar. Well, she was right. Plentiful chicken shawarma in the meal. It was chunks of chicken and not typical gristle. Nice dressing on salad, lots of fresh baked pita and the tasty rice with dill. Very nice flavor. The dolomates were as good as any I've ever had. Hummus was excellent and nice portion. We had the ones with feta and the Zaatar spice mix. I also enjoyed the spicy red sauce. This is my very first yelp review. Unfortunately, it's not gonna be very pleasing. I have ordered from this restaurant in the past until recently and I don't know if the management or ownership has changed, but my last three orders have been disastrous. My most recent order placed tonight was the last straw. We specifically told the gentleman taking the order that the last time I had ordered the meat combo plate, the chicken was very, very dry. We had asked for basmati rice and were given biryani rice, which has some spice and kick to it. Well, as u guessed it, we got the same order again!!! And, if that wasn't bad enough their delivery driver decides to throw rocks at our second floor window claiming he tried calling and the call wasn't going through!!! It sucks, but we're done with Zatar!!! It's a damn shame, because we've tried many other Mediterranean restaurants in Logan Square and until recently Zatar was on their game! You guys need to get it together over there, your risking the loss of more customers if you keep this up!!! read more

Tonight we had the chicken kabob plate, chicken shawarma wrap, and grape leaves. We used the coupon for 15%off and a free falafel appetizer! Love Zaatar! Great food meets friendly customer service. The classic hummus is fantastic. The beef kabob plate or meat combo plate, with biryani rice, salad, and peta is my go-to. The chicken shawarma is excellent too. You can order online through their Yelp page which keeps it simple. They also currently have a check-in offer. In all of my experiences, the staff have been accommodating and kind. Most recently, I ordered take out on a Sunday evening. The food was ready in 10 minutes. They remembered the extra hot sauce I requested. The meat combo plate which includes chicken and beef kabob, kofta, rice, and salad was delicious. My partner and I shared it. I've never eaten inside. To me, it has never felt like a place to sit and dine, more of a waiting area for takeout. read more

Everything came as ordered and on time. Those were plus points. Unfortunately this place lacked flavor and freshness for me. My pita was stale, the falafel was so dense and dry, hummus was ok, and the rice was unfortunately dry as well. We also ordered the $25 kabob platter as well and added 4 extra skewers and was shocked on how tiny the portions were or they made a mistake on the order. We ordered this at work, and got falafel. I'm not joking, it was the worst falafel I've ever had. It had ZERO flavor. It tastes like a deep fried ball of flour. Zaatar is one of my favorites and is my go to spot for a quick dinner on weeknights. Everything is made fresh to order and I have literally never had anything there that I didn't like. My favorite is the beef wrap, but I regularly get the chicken skewer plate, red pepper hummus, falafel, and fattoush. Everything is super flavorful, and it's got plenty of fresh herbs and deliciousness. The service is super friendly, but it does take a tiny bit longer than a fast food place because it's made fresh to order. It's soooooo worth the wait! The space itself is pretty small, just a couple tables and a bar with stools so I would recommend ordering to go or ordering delivery. The food is very reasonably priced and they give you a ton of food for your money. No matter what entree I order I always seem to have leftovers, sometimes a whole additional meal's worth. Ordered through Caviar - wrong items sent and some just not sent at all. Ordered chicken kabob plates and beef were sent. Not that big of a deal except my girlfriend cannot digest beef and therefore can't eat it. Called to correct and was met with "What do you want me to do about it? We're busy?" The rudeness continued and after talking about me/the order on the other end of the phone they told me they would not correct their mistake and send our original order, as requested, and that I should contact Caviar directly. This was our first time ordering from Zaatar and I can write with 100% conviction that we never will again. I've been here 4-5 times so feel I can give a relatively good overview of Zaatar. The short would be, "good food with large portions for sensible prices". The service has also always been on point both when my wife and I have walked in and had dinner there or tonight when I walked down the st for pickup. Their spices are really nice and the food always seems to be fresh along with downright delicious. Hard to complain really. I've had the Chicken and Beef Shwarmas, Gyro, Chicken Kebob, Dolma, Baklava, and their namesake Zaatar Hummus along with a few of their salads / wraps. Tonight I simply got the gyro and some hummus to split because their servings are always so generous. This restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

Really solid Mediterranean food, and the prices are even better. I got the chicken kebab platter, and the portion was generous, filled with rice and veggies. The order came with pita bread (which was nothing to write home about), making it probably enough food for two people, even if you're really hungry. I also ordered a side of falafel, which was also pretty good! I'm a bit of a falafel snob (if such a thing exists), but this met the mark for me. Great addition to the Bucktown neighborhood. My boyfriend and I shared the gyro plate and small red pepper hummus for lunch and it was a good amount of food! Loved the house salad that came with the platter. They only had 5 seats along the window, so not good for more than a group of 2-3 but excellent for takeout. DON'T pass this place up! Wraps start a $6.00, so it's less expensive than the page suggests, and there's no way for me to input that to yelp. The food is FANTASTIC, I love the way they grill their shawarmas! Super stuffed with plenty of meat! This seems to be one of th few places that stays open late and is withing walking distance of my new apartment. Based on reviews, I was expecting awesomeness all around. What I got was a bit of a mixed bag. I walked up there to get some take-away. Service was friendly, so no problems there. Possibly the order took too long and this may directly relate to my assessment of one of the items below. I was a bit indecisive about what to get but the place is very inexpensive so i ordered a bunh of different items: Lentil soup - Very delicious I've had better a couple times but not often. Spinach pie - Nothing special. Too much dough and a bit on the bland side. Vegetarian Sampler which consisted of Dolmades, Baba Ghanouj, Hummus, a side salad (from 3 or 4 choices) and grilled pita Dolmades were excellent, and the grape leaves properly cooked (which often doen't happen with these); Baba was very good, perhaps a touch heavy on the citrus; Hummus was incredibly smooth and delectable; The salad (I chose the Greek) wasn't good for three reasons. 1) The tomatoes were mushy; 2) the lettuce, well, I think it's just not a good idea to get takeaway salads with lettuce especially when the containers will be in contact with hot items; and 3) What greek salad has no feta cheese?; The "grilled" pita bread, somehow had not been grilled. Oversight I suppose. Kofte Kebab was atrocious - extremely overcooked such that the peppers were mushy and the kofte was dry to the point of being almost hard. Skip that! Overall though, I like this place especially the soup and the hummus and the prices are fantastic. All that food was about $25 and will make another meal - and would have made two additional meals had the kofte kebab been edible. . read more

I really like this place! It's in a challenged spot right by the el and seating is limited. It is best to order for takeout. That being said, 5 stars for gyros. I typically order the small Greek salad with gyro meat. You get a pita sliced in half, 2 Tahini sauce and 1 hot sauce. It's enough for 2 lunches or a meal if you are hungry. For me, the fresh and healthy ingredients set this place apart. I normally have serious food guilt after eating a greasy gyro but not here. The gyro meat is lean and tasty without too much garlic or onion. The Greek salad is fresh with tomatoes, feta, lettuce and olives. I make 2 half gyro sandwiches out of this order. Yum! I've had the grilled salmon. It's good but I am more obsessed with gyro meat lol! I also tried the spinach pie. It is a hand pie with dough instead of Greek version with phyllo crust. I was afraid it would be a little too doughy but no complaints here. Delicious filling inside. The staff all have a heavy accent.
