It has 4.7/5 out of 620 reviews on trip advisor and 9.6/10 out of 936 reviews on the fork nl. I would give this place 10 stars out of 5 if I could. As shown in the photos, our favorites we would highly recommend are both the Chopan Salat and Mantoe for the appetizer, the Lunkho dish (if you like lamb this is one of the best lamb dishes I've ever had) for the entree, and the traditional Afghan milk pudding for dessert. Not pictured, but their house made lemonade is also fantastic and it made sparkling with mint (not too sweet). I initially found this restaurant on yelp and its high reviews and photos of the food caught my eye - I knew my father and I had to try it. We both cook and travel a lot (my father has been to 70 countries) and it was hands down one of the best meals my father and I have ever had anywhere. I did not take photos of the restaurant but the decor was absolutely beautiful as well as the traditional flute music they played at a perfect volume. The staff and the chef himself were all very kind and informative throughout the dining experience and went above and beyond to accommodate us. I will say come to this place with all your appetite because you will not be able to take your leftovers to go. The chef made an exception for us once and gave us one of their china plates with foil on top to allow us to take our leftovers to go since we did not know about the rule. Luckily we are staying close by and were able to return the plate because we wanted to return the above and beyond hospitality - the chef originally even told us to keep the plate! Food, service, and dining experience were all above and beyond. I am moving to Tilburg for a year for university and I will definitely be back multiple times.

It was my first time trying Afghan food. What a tasty little neighborhood restaurant! The menu…read morechanges based on what the grandmother makes each day. You chose the number of courses. My favorites were the roasted pumpkin with slaw, the tender and flavorful meat patties, and the rice. The rice was so full of flavor and topped with almonds, raisins, and carrots. So yummy!! The cauliflower was surprisingly spicy. I am always pleasantly surprised with how good eggplant can be. Service was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back to try some more Afghan treats.

They looked like they were closing up for the evening, as the pace was empty inside. The waitress greeted us and said they could accommodate us, but would only be able to serve us one dish, Mantoe (or Mantu in English?). It is almost like a dumpling stuffed with minced meat (beef or lamb), steamed, and then topped with tomato sauce, yogurt, lentil or chick pea bits, and parsley. The dish was very tasty, the savory meat mixed with the light yogurt and fresh herbs was a great combination. The bites were light, but there serving left you filled. The waitress explained that she and her sister work the front part of the restaurant mostly and her mother is in back cooking. The family feel came through not only in the food, but in the hospitality we received at a late hour when they were preparing to close. I would love to come back here again (if and when I make it back to Amsterdam) so I can try more dishes!

It's tucked away in the alley and so it might look dodgy but trust google map directions and you'll get there! There's a great hookah area with carpets and cushions for seats, just slightly elevated off the floor, towards the back left wall. On this Wednesday night, we pretty much had the place to ourselves, apart from another table with a party of two. Amuse bouche for the table came in the form of two pieces of bread with some olives and a yogurt dip. The yogurt dip was delicious and the olives were salty and tangy, a perfect complement to the bread. We got these refilled twice as it took a good 30 minutes from when we placed our order to the food actually coming out. Not a lot of alcoholic drink options and I ended up getting a nice Fanta Cassis drink. For the main, my colleagues got the Patnoes Maza platter (this is humongous and honestly two ppl can easily share it!). I saw Borani (eggplant cooked in yogurt) and decided to get this instead of following the others. This dish came with a salad, rice (which they very kindly made veggie for me) and the bread. I loved the delicate use of spices (quite different from Indian) but honestly, there could have been a bit more eggplant on my dish. I ate some of the bread dry. I also got Firni- Afghan pudding for dessert. The rose-water & saffron combo tasted like soap to some of the others on my table, but I quite enjoyed it and would get it again. The crunchy pistachio and toasted almond mix on top was really quite delicious. Overall pleasant evening with good service and pleasing food. Yelp 222/ 2018
