Anillas de calamar? Fritas, frías y que parecían de almidón. El arroz con leche era evidente que era arroz sobrante con un poco de leche y canela, totalmente pasado y aguado, asqueroso. La sandía pasada y esponjosa de haber estado cortada varios días. Eso fue lo que probé, y de lo que puedo hablar. Menos mal que no comí mucho de nada, pues sigo con náusea y dolor de estómago dos horas después. Esa comida no es apta ni para alimentar cerdos. Un asco. Deberían censurar ese buffet.

I called from my car and was assured I could drive to the front of the hotel, drop my bags and then continue to the parking garage around the corner. I did this succesfully although nervously. The front desk clerk was warm, professional and helpful. She told me I had been upgraded to a larger room which was a nice surprise. The room was large, clean and well appointed. There were three large french doors that looked out over the back of the hotel and it's pool. It was lovely. The location is superb as it is just around the corner to one of the bridges that crosses the river into the historic area of the city. Check out was easy and straightforward.

Found Nord 1901 over on Trip Advisor, but I also needed to Yelp it here, of course! This wonderful, elegant boutique hotel is in the heart of wonderful Girona and walking distance to most everything that you're likely to want to do. Not grand or opulent, but this hotel and its rooms fit my taste more than most others in which I have ever stayed. Excellent front desk service with good English speakers. Parking is a little strange, off premises around the corner, but it works, and you can unload easily on the quiet street in front of the hotel. Some of the third floor rooms involve additional stairs after the top floor elevator, so plan accordingly or ask for help with your bags. Wonderful small pool in the back beyond the main lobby. There looked to be a nice optional breakfast buffet, but we didn't partake. Rates were very reasonable considering the quality. Definitely recommend! If you have ever been to Lucca Italy, Girona may remind you of it a bit. Many streets are old, narrow, one way or even dead end. My biggest tip is that even though this is a smaller city, you will most definitely need a good MAP to find this hotel and to get around. This is especially true if you are driving in. We got hopelessly lost on the way in. I only wish that we had more time to explore this wonderful, vibrant and ancient city!

Had never heard of…read moreit before we came on a hiking trip, so hadn't expected anything in particular - but I surely didn't expect this (which wasn't on yelp). Nice chalet exterior, wonderfully sculpted landscape, great outdoor furniture, much larger room (with balcony) than expected. And a restaurant (where we're eating now) that's to die for - and indeed motivated this exercise (never done yelp before). I had a cod salad appetizer, followed by an incredibly succulent veal steak with wild mushrooms (and two sauces), and a chocolate/hazelnut ice cream "cake" with the filling a very thin frozen raspberry coulee. There's also a thermal pool, massage and stuff like that (I've looked at the pool, but haven't tried) - must be a eat place during skiing season.

Rooms are amazing, upgrade to stay in the big house. Our room had a shower which leaked onto the bathroom floor every time we showered. This was solved by bringing new towels every single time we had a shower. Lots of cats around the beautiful castle. If you tip Marcel who's worked here for 22 years well he might give you a tour down the old catacombs which also acted as a nightclub in the -70s. The garden is amazing and everywhere you hear birds chirping, winds blowing through the trees or water pouring from the "bains thermales". There are two pools, one big by the garden and one on the top floor which I think is a little heated and has an beautiful view of the surroundings. The booked a table for us when we arrived in the small restaurant 5 min away, but it was closed. To compensate the owner served us free cocktails. And since it was our honeymoon they had a complementary bottle of champagne in our room upon our arrival. In the evening they close the shutters and ready your bed. At breakfast they have fresh carrot, mint, mango smoothie. Will definitely come here again.

Tony R wrote one review in English and another in Spanish so maybe that's the reason his reviews were flagged. I only had breakfast at Els Casals so my review isn't as detail as Tony R. If interested, you should check out the hidden reviews. That said, my review is only for having breakfast organized by Aborigens. First time having breakfast at a one star Michelin restaurant. Els Casals is about an hour and a half drive from Barcelona. It's nice to explore somewhere outside of the city into the countryside. By the time we arrived, the table was set and food ready for us. The ranch actually houses a few guest rooms and a restaurant. The interior is very cozy and rustic and in the middle of the dining area, there's a small cellar where they hung a couple bunches of house cured sausages. Interesting. For breakfast we were served a few different kinds of house cured sausages, bread, spinach and beans, and black truffle omelets! Of course some red wine as well. So luxurious! This was not a typical breakfast and was made especially for the tour. Although, I saw the breakfast the ranch offered to the ranch guests consisted of some cured sausages and cheeses as well, we definitely had something more special. After breakfast, we had the chance to meet the owner and chef Oriol Rovira. He must be the warmest, nicest and funniest Michelin star chef I've ever met, not that I have met many. He was so kind to show us the kitchen and let us smell the bowl of black truffles he has. He also showed us the suckling pig which was only starting to roast in the oven and will take about 4-6 hours. After that, a tour of his sausage work shop where they make everything in-house. Els Casals totally defines the meaning of farm to table cuisine as he pretty much grows everything in his farm and serve the ingredients in his one star restaurant. Totally awesome experience and I would love to go back for dinner one day.
