Small roti. One roti was no more than 3oz and they charged it for $5 each!

This restaurant was clearly CHEATING the customers! I went there for dinner. When I got my reciept, I noticed that they calculated tax based on the price of food PLUS 10% mandatory service fee! I asked my server about it, the server said he could not do anything, so reciptionist dealt with it. He told me that "the restaurant knows about it", and "many customers have complained this problem". This made me even more angry: so they knew what they did, and they simply ignored the customers' complaint!? I asked him to give me a correct recipt as I cannot pay for it as it is a problematic bill, but he kept saying he couldn't until I said aloud that "you are cheating customers?". Even the couple who sat next to me laughed at him and shook their heads... Eventually they gave me some deductions, but the attitude of the reciptionist clearly indicated that they would keep doing so. You should be CAREFUL when dining in this restaurant. By the way, the food was not good either, especially the Hariyali Chicken kebab. The chicken pieces was as hard as stones...

I went to Zaika with my friends this past weekend, and we had a great experience. We all tried their thalis. I got the non-veg thali while my friends chose the veg thali. Each thali came with three curries - For the non-veg thali, I got two chicken gravies - Butter chicken, saffron chicken, and a mutton gravy. The veg thali had Butter Paneer gravy, saag, and a mixed vegetable curry. Both the thalis also came with: Appetizer(Samosa), Dal, Rice, Roti and Dessert (Gulab Jamun) which were all really tasty and flavorful. 10 on 10. The food was delicious , and for the price, it felt like such a great value for the quality and taste. I also ordered a mocktail - Mango lemonade- It was so refreshing and delicious as well. The staff was super friendly and attentive, especially Anthony, who seated us and took our order with a smile, which added to the overall great experience. The ambiance of Zaika was warm and comforting as well. Overall, I had a fantastic time, and I can't wait to return to try more.

Stopped in for the Valentine's day tasting menu and was pleased overall. Each dish was very rich and well balanced, and the servers were attentive and accommodating. There were a few options for each course, with vegetarian options available. We went with all of the carnivore options and were very pleased with the quantity of food provided. The only note I had was that the dessert's presentation was pretty over-the-top and a bit lazy. A single piece of gold paper was set on top of the dish, seemingly for no reason. It really looked out of place and didn't add any semblance of sophistication. Overall, a very nice valentine's day atmosphere (lighting and decoration was pleasant), delicious food, and prompt service.

This place is so right next door to the Starbucks roastery. Upon entering we were seated at a very comfy couch and table. It was so cozy!! The food. I had the chili chicken 5 5/5 the taste was amazing. Could have been a little spicer for me, but I could have asked for that and will next time. Raita 5/5 very fresh and went well with the spicier dishes Cauliflower 10/5 omg this stole the show. Sweet, savory umami goodness. I had a couple bites of a friends and was immediately sad I hadn't ordered it myself. Get this!!! You won't regret it Peri peri fries 4/5 they were crispy had good seasoning, but really just fries. Garlic naan. Really good. The service. Here is where the 4/5 comes in. Rahul was VERY friendly. He took our drink and then dinner orders very quickly. Our food came out within 10 minutes of ordering which was great. The bad tho.. there were 8 of us. 7 meals came out and he had to ask the one that didn't get get meal what she'd ordered. Oops. It'll be out in 5 minutes. It took 13 minutes for her meal to come out and while I get it there were a bunch of us. A simple. I'm so sorry would have been really nice. All in all I'd come back again. It was hands down the best Indian food I've ever had!

We had dinner at Zaika after a long time and enjoyed our dinner. We got Achari chicken tikka, Goat Bhuna, Lacchha paratha and biryani rice. We liked Achari chicken tikka. Lacchha paratha and Goat Bhuna were very good.

Zaika is a famous spot for Indian food in the Pike Street area. The food tastes really good. I tried butter chicken and the gravy was outstanding. I also had Bhindi Masala and that was pretty decent too. However given the ambience of this place, the restaurant is over priced. Because it's so pricey with a very average ambience, the place is definitely not a 5 star spot. Moreover the curries doesn't come with complimentary rice. That is a norm in USA for Indian restaurant. So you need to either get extra Basmati or Briyani rice. If this already doesn't add to your owes, the will impose a mandatory 18% service tax. And then expect a tip too. I am sorry with just two dishes with average quantity and a rice and bread and taxes - my check is already crossing $80+. Don't expect tip. There are more affordable Indian restaurant with better Food Safety Standards delivery same flavours that Zaika does.

    Sugarcane juice without ice.

We trued this place at our recent visit to Seattle. We got seated immediately and the restaurant was empty but took the waiter almost 15 mins to come and attend us. The food was innovative and tasty but I was disappointed with the drinks. I ordered sugar cane juice without ice and the amount of juice showed up in my cup for $12 was not acceptable (see pic ). On top of that a service fee added on our bill which I think was ridiculous because we did not see any other restaurants in Seattle add that so not sure why this restaurant did that. Overall below average experience even though the food was good.

This shows they didn't even start the order until our party was basically over.
    R S.

Placed an order for a going away party at work. Sent in the order 2 weeks early. Called the day before delivery to confirm the order. The order didn't show up for the luncheon at all. All the employees were left without food. This is unacceptable. Shame on them and their lack of professionalism.

Lamb pepper fry and daal makhani
    Ann W.

The food from this restaurant, unfortunately, was a big disappointment. Our table ordered the mushroom steak, kale chaat, lamb pepper fry, daal makhani, and both butter/garlic naan. Appetizers tasted bland with little flavors. Lamb pepper fry and daal makhani simply did not stand out given the price point of the dishes. They tasted fine, but nothing special, not worth the price. Their naan were not crispy at all, instead they were oily and soggy. I had one piece and that was enough. Service was good, though. Our waiter, Isiah, was patient and attentive with us. However, the food itself would not be worth coming back for. Expensive food but not worth it. Ambiance was okay.

Notice and read about the service charge! It should instead be charge that goes to its staff!
    Jody S.

Left ANGRY! The owners put a 10% service that goes to the restaurant not the staff AND then you tip on top of their service fee! So instead of a chicken dish costing $26.00 it's costing $28.60 !! Just charge what you want to charge don't manipulate the customer! It's too bad because the food and staff are great. Restaurant policy and amount of chicken in the sauce is skimpy. $84.00 and we left hungry. Shouldn't happen. Pricing would be fine if they included a tad more protein. And took off the 10% service charge for the owners! Cheapens the feeling of what was a good restaurant. We'll never be back

A really great spot for Indian food! Especially for their happy hour deals. I came right before the end of happy hour on a Wednesday, and there weren't many people inside. So, we were able to get seated immediately. We got the chili chicken to share, and I got the aloo tiki burger as my main. The chili chicken was AMAZING. Super spicy, but the flavor was absolutely amazing. I would definitely get it again. The aloo tiki burger was also delicious - two patties perfectly fried, with a delicious bun and sauce. The peri peri fries were also fantastic - well seasoned and crispy. Service was friendly as well, and relatively efficient. I would recommend this spot for sure, and will hopefully be back again soon.

Delicious and very comforting food! We could smell the restaurant down the block we ran into it while walking and decided to stop by. Their chai was also very yummy.

    Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan
    Brooke A.

Zaika is the perfect place if you're looking for an upscale Indian restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing and beautifully presented, and the atmosphere is relaxed and great for dinner with a friend or group. We made a reservation for 5 PM on a weekday, and we were under the impression that they still did happy hour. We found that this was not the case when we arrived, although the happy hour menu was still posted outside. This was a bit disappointing , but we were happy to pivot to the normal menu. We got chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. We also both ordered chai, which was probably my favorite menu item. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. The food items were plenty full. Between the two of us, we had an amount of leftovers that made for a lunch I really looked forward to eating the next day.

I'm not sure what happened on my last visit as the curries were on the colder side. When you arrive parking can be a bit difficult, there is a small parking lot out front, if that's full you'll need to find street park. The restaurant itself feels warm, casual, and bustling. Queen you walk in you have the option to sit on the backyard patio or in the dining room. We opted to sit in the dining room as it just felt more intimate and the vibe we were wanting for dinner. For our appetizer, we started with the Samosas (Two crispy pastries filled with your choice of freshly mixed vegetables or delicately spiced lean ground beef) which were excellent. Next we ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken. The naan and samosas showed up piping hot but the chicken tikka masala & butter chicken were cold. I probably should have said something as I was disappointed but was too hungry to care at that moment. If I'm in the Seattle area I may stop by Taste of India again.

We were really hungry and decided to join them as I've had this spot saved too as the reviews were pretty positive. They were definitely very popular but we were put on the waitlist but I think it would be helpful if they took peoples' numbers as apparently they would just shout it outside. We weren't aware as we went somewhere else to wait as it was very cold. When we arrived, a different employee started cleaning a table for us and we waited but then the employee who did put us down was frustrated with us as he called us and no one of us answered cause we were elsewhere. We weren't sure if we had a spot after that but luckily the employee who was cleaning was done and offered that spot. They also did drop a glass cup after cleaning nearby which was concerning but they did clean it up right away. Once we were seated, it took almost a half an hour to get some to take our order. Luckily we did get our water refilled decently but there were a few times where our empty glasses were seen and ignored. I definitely think there should be staff training as it was non-existent. I understand being busy but you're across the convention center so it should be expected. The music was also so low I didn't know it was even on, they have a loud fan going on and even their TVs have no volume. It's a pretty awkward ambiance, especially with how they try to look like they are a upscale restaurant. It did take some time to get food and it seems like the kitchen was frustrated too as I heard the bell signaling food being ready several times. The food was actually good, especially for the price. The portions are generous. We never had paratha but our friend recommended it so we got the aloo paratha while my boyfriend got their butter masala and I got their tikka masala extra hot. It wasn't really spicy at all, definitely nothing like what I've had at other Indian restaurants. The curries were flavorful with good pieces of chicken. We might return if we need something nearby but there are definitely better options that I would walk for.

By the time my nose was accustomed to the aromas, there was food in front of me. Combo momos to start (the plain and fried are ok, chili are good, sandheko are amazing. Coconut curry, sandheko aloo (potatoes) and chicken followed - and did I mention the sandheko was amazing? We were in & out in 45 minutes, and timed things well, it really filled up by the time we were done. Parking lot is tiny, so may be a challenge, but we happened into a spot which may or may not have belonged to the neighboring business. Would definitely return....assuming I could find parking.

But Indian-Nepali Kitchen is one of Seattle's most sought-after spots for affordable eats. But don't sleep on the rest of INK's broad menu of South Asian fare -- The Infatuation magazine even considers it to be one of the best restaurants in the city, full stop. INK shares a strip mall with a bodega and nail salon. Black cushioned chairs are pressed up to lacquered wood tables, and the tan walls are decorated with an assortment of cultural tchotchkes. Bollywood music videos play on the main dining room's single flatscreen, while images of Nepali mountain ranges flash on the screen in the accessory dining room. My partner and I dined at INK for weekday dinner on our drive up to the North Cascades, and we had the dining room to ourselves. Only a handful of takeout patrons rolled through during our visit. We kicked off our meal with the Mixed Appetizer. The Vegetable Pakora component was a consensus hit. The rich, crispy bites functioned well on their own and were fun conduits for the fragrant mint sauce and the tart tamarind sauce. In comparison, the samosas were forgettable, sporting overwhelmingly thick shells and hit-or-miss fillings. Of the three varieties, only the earthy ground lamb was worth finishing. Next, we tried the Combo Momo platter. Admittedly, the signature momos were surprisingly mediocre. Across the varieties, the wonton-like Fried Momo was the clear winner with its exciting texture without overpowering the delicate filling flavor. Meanwhile, the standard steamed momos tasted like something out of the frozen section, the Chili Momos were dominated by fast-food-quality sweet-and-sour sauce, and the Sandheko Momos had an unassuming, generally savory curry flavor (which was far outdone by the tangy side of house chutney). For our entree, we were very impressed by the Butter Curry Lamb. The thick curry broth was vibrant and dynamic; we sipped it by the spoonful. The tough lamb felt like an afterthought. The Garlic Basil Bread wasn't particularly basil-y, but the naan slices were pillowy, flaky, and addictively buttery. To drink, we shared an Iced Chai. The tea was more spiced than sweet; the average Starbucks patron might turn their nose up to it, but the light drink was a welcome contrast to the dense entrees. For dessert, we opted for the Gulab Jamun: the ping pong-sized cheese balls were deceptively dense, each packing a rich, syrupy punch. The service was quick and efficient, and our bill worked out to about $75 (after tax and tip). The flavors topped out at very good, but never quite achieved greatness. The portions were generous -- we probably could have done without the momos and still had a satisfyingly hearty meal. For a no-frills meal that will, at a minimum, be tasty, INK is a safe bet.
