I had a very UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE from the MALE MANAGER in Bourke Street i hope that THE SITE MANAGER ACTUALLY SEES THIS Came to the store because of an ERROR i made. A purchase online for 239 aud for the wrong shoes. Straight After purchasing the item i drove 30 mins to the store to tell them about the issue in the hopes that they can rectify it. Manager said nothing they can do. I should cancel order online i said i tried to cancel several times even showing him my phone and he wasnt even looking and so i politely said to him the option that you kept giving me isnt working. he kept shaking his head saying repeating "i understand but its not our fault its your fault" i said okay. I know its my fault i actually told you its my fault can you please stop saying its not your fault My point here is im trying to find some actual working solutions. He said " i know but im the manager here" Me: wtf where the fck did that come from i dont think we are understanding in the same level. Sadly, Melbourne doesn't do High Street fashion very well. The rather simple concept of quality on trend pieces at low prices just doesn't seem to translate. If the US and the UK can do it than why on earth can't we? Troves of Aussies return from overseas adventures raving about the shopping and, especially, raving about Zara. The extremely popular Spanish style emporium that offers cheap classic clothing. I think that Zara made the mistake of assuming that it's Melbourne customers hadn't checked out their awesome international stores. Because a lot us have and a lot of us are disappointed. Not only is the stock seasons old in some cases, but the prices are also really marked up. Despite the beautiful building that Zara is housed in, the interior still has a crappy department store vibe and the staff always seem stressed and harried. More changing rooms, slightly lower prices, a more expansive collection of womenswear - the London flagship stores have at least two floors for women alone - and more of Zara's mid-range pieces, even if that means doing away with the WHOLE FLOOR designated for childrenswear. At first there was always a huge line to get into Zara, now not so much. Writing about chain stores sparingly here, and within good reason. Like with Sydney, Zara here at Bourke Street Mall in Melbourne was also a hit when it first opened. Be prepared to queue up and wait to get in. Although the latter is not much the case anymore, apart from the fitting rooms. There is a bit of a wait to try your clothes on, however the queue passes by considerably quickly. We were promised that the different clothing items on hand would be fresh and not the kind that you would find in Europe months earlier, how wrong. However, in saying this the range is diverse; although a simply upmarket version of Target. The pricing is weird, and does not do high quality clothing that much justice; in tandem with the store announcements; where you would be forgiven that your feel that your in a supermarket shopping. A diverse range, and great fashion tops in particular. A couple of them look like seconds so be careful. The service isn't too bad, although slightly impersonal. It is great to be another member of the tribe carrying a blue Zara bag around town; and in the afternoon on a weekday as well while many people are at work. read more

Let's get this out of the way. I am really not a fan. After hearing Zara was opening here in Melbourne, I watched as the endless streams of people made their way into Zara to buy the whole store and steered clear away. Now several months later, the hype had died down, and the pace is back to normal departmental shopping. I walked in for a quick look today. Boy was I disappointed. First off, the service is absolutely shocking. I was not greeted by a single staff member. I don't expect a personal shopper, but a friendly greeting to acknowledge that you've walked into the store is the norm. They weren't busy, so it wasn't because they were understaffed. In fact, on the men's floor alone there were about 7 staff. Three of them were behind the counter, looking busy as ever with no customers to serve. Was there really that many things to do guys? Secondly, for a store that claims to be fashion forward and trendy, the pieces were quite lacklustre. Nothing stands out and screams "TRY ME!". A few of their blazers had pocket squares in them, which I thought was a really classy touch. Until I noticed that they were sewn into the jackets themselves. I mean really?! Yeaaaaahhhhh I'm not a huge fan of Zara. I find here that there's not enough to choose from and what there is to choose from is usually overpriced. The sizing seems a little out too. Every time I've tried on pants here they're too big (in comparisson to other places). Accessories are minimal and the staff seem to hang out in packs at the changerooms. I'd say Zara is ok if you're looking to buy a couple of nice staple items for work at the office but not much beyond that. read more

I come here very often but I have never seen a staff like this --- She is completely racist! When I was returning the clothes and number plate at changing room, the staff that took my clothes started counting them loud "one, two, three..." I tried to put all clothes in the bin because I was in a rush to leave, she stopped me and continue counting "four, five, six..." until the number of clothes matches my number plate. So if I accidentally took the wrong number plate was she gonna check my bag? Why would I risk to steal a $50 shirt in a store that has full security? Funny thing is when the other people return their clothes, she didn't do the ridiculous counting (in a ridiculously loud voice). I hope your management can take care of this. Zara in Melbourne CBD, customer service doesn't exist there. last Sunday when i was standing waiting at the fitting room entrance, a staff was there treating me as if i was invisible. when i finally asked her politely if there's a room available (as there's no line but me), she replied inpatiently, "could you please wait hon?" and finishing doing whatever she was "busy doing", then pointed at the end of the fitting rooms. and today, i rang Zara in Highpoint, they immediately answered the phone and provided the info i needed, and directed me to the store in CBD. and after ringing the CBD store 5 times today morning, noon, and afternoon without answering, i gave up. read more

Had a reasonably good experience at the mens section of the store. The atmosphere is a tad stuffy but prices are okay for the more basic items, although they do lack the great range of the international stores. I think for a company with a focus on fashion at affordable prices the staff should be more inviting and friendly (smile!), and the range refreshed and expanded. outright refuse to buy anything from here. i have been in there a few times, the time before last a employee was helping me put together an outfit when she was scolded by another employee for not fixing the cardigans on a display table. i was appauled that not only did this staff member do this in front of but interupted was was going to be roughly an $800 sale (i was already looking to buy multiple other items) despite this experience i went back again today only to see the security guard refusing entry to a blind woman and her seeing eye dog. the whole store needs to get a grip. read more

Don't believe the hype. Hype is, unfortunately, all that this fashion retail giants success can be attributed to. The fabric falls apart in your hands, the jeans and pants stretch beyond justification, the buttons fall off, the zips get stuck, and subsequently, the price tags do not reflect the quality. It is a shame that Zara Australia does not live up to Zara Europe, where the quality is much the same but the price tag is lower, making it much more reasonable. Management is shocking in this store, and there is an incredibly high staff turnover which is a direct result of this. Zara Melbourne's success cannot be accredited to management, friendly staff, selling skills, high quality stock or value for money as evidenced through a simple walk around the stores. The success is instead due to the hype over the Zara brand, and the concept of owning pieces copied from high end designer brands at a lower cost. However, morally, Zara Australia is at a loss and this will begin to translate into losses in sales figures if they do not pick up their game, and quick smart. I would like to believe Australian consumers are smart, and we certainly deserve better service, better quality and better prices if retail is to survive the internet. read more

I was a ZARA fans but was utterly disappointed by their customer services from the manager herself !! Was at the Melbourne CBD bourke street store today getting a suit for my partner. All went perfectly well and happy until the alteration part. The girl who serve us was offering us to do it outside at myers or through ZARA itself which will take 2-3weeks longer. We opted to do it through ZARA as we were not in a hurry. She pinned it all for us and advised us to proceed down to Ground level (She was one of the only one who was friendly and helpful) At ground level, the cashier initially told us they dont provide alteration service and keep pushing us to do it elsewhere. Then later tell us they charge for it. We were lost as all the measurements were already done. So we just wanted to double check with the manager. Manager ALEX ABRAHAM just tell us abruptly that they DO NOT PAY FOR OUR alteration. No introduction or even a Hi and assumed that we were some beggers who wanted free alteration. Even worse, after telling us that, she just throw us the pants, make a phone call (she "said" she was telling the girl at mens department) and no good bye or what so ever leave us standing there like fools. When we asked her what is going on now, she just answered " I already told you we dont pay for alteration and you can just pay up. I dont know what more do you want from me". I work in customer service too and I understand sometimes we get bad days. It was not crowded at all, thus getting this kind of service from a MANAGER level is totally disappointing. DO NOT JUDGE YOUR CUSTOMERS EVEN BEFORE TALKING TO THEM. THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE 101. I wanted to write a formal complaint but couldnt even find any feedback section on its website.
