Chicken Bowl
Theresa H.

I only came here because my Husband wanted their Fried Chicken which is good by the way. I didn't want any Chicken, but I ended up ordering a Salad Bowl and they only had Chicken or Lamb. So I got the Chicken because I don't like Lamb. It was bland, not many choices to put on your Salad, not even Cheese. If I come back I'll stick to the Fried Chicken. Also they share the space with Jamba Juice. The Staff was polite.

Zauq Halal Kitchen is a local eatery that serves up rice platters, salad platters, wraps, quesadillas, gyros, burgers, chicken sandwiches, fried chicken, and even party/catering options. We came here for a late lunch while in the area, and we ordered: +the Mixed Rice Platter - going for the lamb and the grilled chicken; this came on top of a bed of rice, which we only opted for the cucumbers and the raw white onions (you can also request other toppings, such as olives, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.). We also requested extra white sauce, which the staff happily delivered! This was a simple, yet a comforting meal, and probably better than the usual overhyped chicken & rice chain that has been blowing up in the past few years! The lamb was thick-cut, juicy, and savory, which I preferred over the chicken! +a Zinger Sandwich - a battered chicken fillet, served with lettuce, mayo, cheese, and a sesame-seeded bun; wasn't a fan of this, as the chicken wasn't super battered up and crispy like the menu showed it to be; the buns were a little dry, and the toppings could have been better (cheese was a little platic-y, lettuce could have been more fresh, etc.) Staff were friendly and kind, and there were some limited seating in the eatery; the space is shared with Jamba Juice, so you can always get a smoothie afterwards! Parking available in the small shared plaza lot. +lamb was delicious! +generous with white sauces! +avoid the Zinger sandwiches +friendly staff +shares space with Jamba Juice +parking available in shared plaza lot

I've been eyeing this place and finally got the family's buy in to try it. This is located conveniently off 695 and Security Blvd, in a little corner plaza. When you walk in you'll notice the spot is shared by Zauq Kitchen and Jamba Juice. The service is good and the owner was friendly. ORDER: There is a buffet of fixings that allows you to customize your platter/wrap. Zauq Gyro Wrap - Customized wrap filled with lamb, lettuce, corn, tomatoes, and cucumbers, topped with sauce. The wrap was a nice size and all the fixings were yummy. The lamb was nicely cooked and chopped in bite size pieces. Zauq Gyro Rice Platter - Customized platter of rice, lamb, corn, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, topped with sauce. This platter was bigger than the average platter I've seen at other spot similar to this (thumbs up). So be ready to eat or take it home for left overs. For the platter you get to choose from lamb, falafel or chicken. We got two canned sodas to complete our order. Overall this place was great. I look forward to coming back and trying the Zauq loaded fries!

Lamb pita wrap

Excellent lamb gyro with flavorful meat, a panoply of delectable toppings, and a phenomenal pita. The pita was extremely impressive. It held a buttery golden crisp exterior with a soft and delicate crumb. Seriously, this was very similar to the Taco Bell chalupa but with much fresher starting dough. The topping selection was wide ranged and all fresh. I selected corn, cherry peppers, lettuce, tomato, and the white and hot sauces. The lamb came in chunks, which I initially feared would be too tough. My worries were allayed when I bit into my first soft, juicy, crumbly flavor bomb of ovine ectascy. This dish was well priced, well executed, and impressive in flavor as well as mouthfeel. Rush in today.

Zauq Zinger Sandwich ---follow @willchews

The Zinger (Fried Chicken) Burger at Zauq Halal is promising, but it just falls short. It has many of the elements that you'd look for a fried chicken sandwich--juicy thigh that's fried deep golden brown, with wonderful crags in the breading, inside a potato bun--but there are a few issues. One is that the chicken is under- (un-?) seasoned; seasoning it more while it's marinating, or maybe seasoning the breading would really add some more flavor. The second is a lack of toppings in the zinger burger. While the menu shows the zinger with lettuce, it was missing from the one I ordered to eat-in. Lettuce, tomato, or even pickles would help jazz up the taste of the burger, especially given how underseasoned the chicken is. Service is very hit or miss. My server was polite and agreed to add lettuce to the two zinger burgers I ordered to go. Upon arriving home, I checked and saw that there in fact was no lettuce. Not sure if this is a cost-cutting measure or if he simply forgot, but this was very disappointing. Overall, potentially excellent food with some self-sabotaged shortcomings.

Loaded fries

Finally a nice clean HALAL place with amazing burgers. Baltimore needs a location like this. My family and I have tried the whole menu at this point everything is so good I love the cheeseburger and loaded fries (I asked them to mix chicken and meat).

Great price and good food. Employees were friendly. I visited for the first time with my friend and we got burger combos. 10/10. I was very happy with the food so I ordered the loaded fries to-go. They seemed to be rushing to finish orders and when I got home, the loaded fries were "extra-spicy" instead of "regular" like I had asked. I'm brown so I can usually handle spice but this was just too much. Couldn't take more than a few bites. Overall, I would still recommend.

Loaded fries!! Delicious but a little heavy.

I came to Zauq Halal Kitchen after seeing all the amazing reviews online. It's on the same road as security mall but further down. The turn is very easy to miss. It's also attached to a smoothie place. They not only have halal stuff, but they also have some American food too. Their zinger chicken sandwich is pretty good and it is very crispy. I always get the loaded fries here. It is delicious and super filling. You can get chicken or lamb but I always stick to lamb when it comes to halal places. They literally drench the fries in all the toppings. It can be a little heavy so be careful if you're planning on order more than 1 item. I recently tried their mixed gyro platter and that was great too! You should definitely check out Zauq Halal Kitchen if you are in area and like halal food.

We just went here for Mother's Day dinner! I was SO excited to learn about this place! I started…read moreeating strictly halal several years ago and I've missed bulgogi SO much! I ordered the bulgogi bowl with rice - my husband got bulgogi with fries thingy, my son a Gogi burger and Spicey bacon fries and we got daughter the carne with fries. My daughter's carne with fries - which we specifically asked for no sauce or cheese - bc she's a very picky eater - took well over 25 minutes to make. All of us had our food and she was crying (she's 7) bc she was so hungry and didn't like anything we had. The food cost over $70 and honestly I was semi pleased at best. My bowl was so so rice heavy with not enough meat - and it didn't taste like Korean bulgogi. It was good - but not bulgogi. The meat and fries combo was almost all fries with little meat - so again - we paid $70 for fries and rice - and my daughter didn't like the carne at all and ate her fries. My husband likes the bulgogi fries but again - little bulgogi - large amounts of sauce and fries. The best thing was the churros. The reason I'm giving a 3 is bc I was to love this place. This is my dream combo - I love Korean and Mexican food! And you can't find halal everywhere. I just am disappointed at the wait time and the prices for what we got.

This was a good experience, large portions, and very flavorful…read more For appetizers, we ordered butterfly shrimp, wings and burnt ends platter. Shrimp were good no wow factor, wings were good just plain but would have been better if they had a sauce and the burnt ends had more of a smoked bbq flavor which was different than usual but very tender and tasty. It was served with mixed vegetables and coleslaw. Veggies were ok and seasoned and coleslaw was to be desired. Not burnt ends is an entree on the menu. For entrees: crispy chicken sandwich with fries and chicken Mishkaki. Can I say, wow the portion required stretch pants! The sandwich; meat to bun is 20% more chicken than bread. It was seasoned and fried to perfection. The fries are in house cut and seasoned well too. The chicken Mishkaki is dish never tried before but reminds you of Nazan Halal's chicken with more of a rich tomato stew flavor with peppers, onions. It was about 8 to 10 skinless thin thighs seasoned and fork tenderness served in its own plate, then another plate with rice and the fixings. Think of a fajita sizzling plate and side plate of the fixings, same as this dish. I would definitely visit again! My pictures didn't save but here are few from other viewers which is identical to what was served.

I almost didn't though, once you dig past social media, you'll see a mix of good and bad reviews, and for a split second that gave me pause. Glad I ignored that feeling. We came on a Saturday around noon for lunch with the family. Addy's sits on the edge of a larger shopping center, nothing flashy, but easy enough to find. When you walk in, the counter is right there and the dining area is pretty small, maybe 8-10 tables total. We were greeted right away by the woman at the register, let her know we were dining in, and she handed us menus to take to our table. I had seen reviews mentioning clutter or stacked plates inside, but that wasn't the case at all during our visit. Everything was clean and in order. They had some jazz playing over the speakers, which gave the place a chill, quiet-to-moderate vibe. Lighting was average, not dim, not bright. Seating is a mix of booths and tables with chairs. I started in a chair, then slid over to the booth side of the table for more leg room. I was never uncomfortable either way. There was one person waiting on food when we arrived. We ordered at the counter and had our food in about 8 minutes, which felt quick. The same woman who took our order also brought the food out, smiled, and checked on us after. No complaints at all on service. It wasn't busy while we were there, but on our way out there was a line of about six people, so it clearly picked up. What we ordered: * Brisket Quesadilla - Shredded brisket with melted cheese in a tortilla, served with sour cream and salsa. The brisket was tender, well-seasoned, and had a light smokiness that came through nicely. * Beef Ribs - Fall-off-the-bone, smoky, saucy beef ribs with fries and cornbread. The cornbread came drizzled with honey, which honestly threw me off at first. I was like, this is either about to be really bad or really good, and it was definitely the latter. Almost cake-like, moist, and flavorful. I usually skip cornbread at BBQ spots, but this one hit. I can see how someone might feel the rib portion is a little light for the price, but not enough to stop me from ordering it again. * Mixed Mishkaki (Beef & Shrimp) - This might've been the standout. East African-style kebabs in a sweet and spicy marinade, served with rice and salad. The beef was insanely tender, I could've cut it with a cheap plastic fork. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, mixed with peppers and onions. It came out sizzling on a hot plate, fajita-style, which surprised us in the best way. Best bang for your buck for sure. This plate could feed two regular people... or one big back. I'm big back...lol * Cajun Chicken Tenders - I usually expect cajun to be dry-rubbed, but these were saucy, and still really good. Definitely coming back to try other flavors. Price-wise, meals range roughly from $9.99 to $24.99, and overall I thought the value was solid for what you get. Maybe some room for debate on the beef ribs, but everything else made up for it easily. Honestly, there wasn't anything on the menu I didn't want to try, and I don't even feel like I've found my go-to item yet, which is a good problem to have. As for the negative reviews I saw beforehand? I don't know. Maybe wrong day, wrong time, or they caught the place during a rough moment. Our experience was smooth, the food was fire, and the restaurant was well kept. Out of a few spots I've tried because of social media hype, this one was probably the most accurate to the hype. It made a big impression on both my wife and me. I live about 40 minutes away, and I'll definitely be back to dine-in or takeout, though I'd probably dine in so the food's hot. Great spot for a lunch date or grabbing takeout. If you've been on the fence like I was, go check it out.

We ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer along with the shrimp hibachi and the steak with shrimp hibachi dinners and fried rice for both. I did not take pictures because I usually forget when I have takeout to grab pictures. But you really weren't missing anything. The fried rice had absolutely no seasoning and barely any fried/scrambled egg as well. There was an option to add extra egg when I looked at the menu online. Not one hint of toasted sesame oil anywhere. I'm not too sure what the flavor was for the vegetables or the shrimp but the shrimp did have a little bit of char to them the vegetables, however did not. I had to add soy sauce and my own toasted sesame oil just so it could taste like something. If I would have known it didn't have any flavor, I would have refried our rice and added egg and other seasonings. I didn't think about this until today when I reheated half of it for dinner and added them on. The shrimps and poor appetizer consisted of two shrimp, one piece of broccoli, one mushroom, and two pieces of sweet potato. They were easy to reheat in the air fryer and get crispy again. We ordered extra yum yum sauce but I only eat yum yum sauce from one restaurant so I didn't even try it. It was very light and color which also didn't have me wanting to try it. With everything else unseasoned and lacking so much flavor, I didn't even open the sauce packet that came with the tempura appetizer. Oh well, we gave them a shot but I don't think that I would eat there again or order food.

It is a Pakistani restaurant that is meat-forward, but not exclusively meat dishes. We went for the Mixed BBQ, which had plenty of meat for at least two hungry people, but my wife and two of our children had plenty for dinner one night and lunch the next day. The kebab was nicely spiced ground meat and it was decent on its own but also nice with a spicy green sauce. The chicken tikka was solid. There were also some heavily spiced ground beef patties. Child #1 is vegetarian and got a Lahori Chana and a Palak Paneer. The Chana was pretty standard, nicely spiced chickpeas. The palak paneer was solid with a nice blend of warm spices, but I wouldn't call it spicy. We also tried out an order of Chicken Tikka Masala. It wasn't as bright or creamy as I've gotten at other Indian or Pakistani places. It was still tasty though. A variety of breads to mop it all up, and it was a solid meal.
