I want to update my review for Zaxby's because I hesitantly returned and this time I tried their zalad and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Blue Zalad with blackened chicken and the chicken was delicious! Extremely tender and juicy! It was a dish I would order again without hesitation. Also, in my previous review, the food wasn't very hot (temperature wise) but on my second visit it was fresh and hot and juicy! Even the chicken tenders! Market analysis indicates we need another place serving fried chick at this intersection, really? I guess the other places are doing well? Popeyes, BW3, and Zaxbys are in sight of one another. Zaxby's is like a dumbed down fast food version of BW3. The base chicken is good and moist, but lots of breading and sugary sauces left me feeling I could do better. Crinkle cut fries and celery makes it a meal. Limited menu with chicken fingers, boneless wings, and bone-in wings. First time to try this restaurant and I have no complaints. Even though they have a selective menu with only chicken entrees, I was able to find something I liked. I ordered the cobb salad with fried chicken. It was a huge portion (more than I could eat) at a decent price. They were busy when we went in, and we did not wait long for our order. Yeah not a fan. Most everything is fried so good luck trying to eat clean, sometimes that's not the goal I get it. Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich combo and just the sandwich, fries and drink for the yute, sandwiches for the adults, $11.53 w/tax. Taste wise the chicken wasn't bad, fries were crinkle cut which I haven't seen in forever, single piece of lettuce, presentation was uninspiring, I get it it's fast food but tell that to your competitor. So we decided that it was time to try this place as I always enjoy new eating establishments. We arrived around 7:45p on a Tuesday. The lobby was pretty empty with 1 person ordering at the counter. We waited like maybe 2-3 minutes before placing our order. Not bad if you ask me. The two people at the counter were very friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions with detail and an upbeat attitude. While we waited we grabbed our drinks and found a table. I was sad to see that their Coke Freestyle machine was not able to connect to the app to get all my mixes. They mostly have booths but there are some tables in the middle of the place. While we waited for our food to come out I noticed how clean the place was. The drink station was surprisingly clean. The floor was not sticky and the counter was clean and clear of clutter and junk. I liked the way that they called out orders when they were finally ready. Instead of just yelling out some number and hoping that you understand them; they use a PA system. Our food came out and I dived in on the fries first. They were crinkle fries and made me smile. I went with the chicken club. The toast they used seems to be more along the lines of Texas toast and it was a welcomed surprise. The chicken had flavor. Not a ton of flavor but a good mix of flavor. Not like KFC that dumps so much seasoning on them to hide the fact that it isn't real chicken. Instead of the sandwich being a chicken breast it is their chicken tenders. It was interesting and yet another welcomed surprise. Overall I felt that the amount of food was right for the price and the flavor was a good mix. I don't want just bland chicken but I don't want it over seasoned either. The staff seems very friendly and one girl even stopped by our table and asked if we wanted a mint. The dining room was clean and the design is different from everything else out there. Is it something so special that it will be my go-to chicken place? Probably not...but it is different enough that when I am craving chicken and don't want to drive far from home...Zaxbys may just be the place I hit up. read more

I grew up in Kentucky and was able to go to Zaxby's as often as I would like. I was so excited when I was finally able to visit Zaxby's again as often as I could. The first visit was good. Nothing to right home about. This time was a disappointment. I love their tater chips with ranch and I wanted extra ranch this time. Please understand this pregnant mommas pain when I reached into the bag and found no ranch! Ugh! Fortunately, the chips were hot and crisp, but I was sad to not even get 1 ranch. I liked that everything tasted fresh. This is my first experience at Zaxby's and I'll def do it again. We don't have one in Chicago and Indianapolis was Home to One and I'm glad I stopped in. I have seen your restaurant several times in the south traveling but have never stopped. I asked my sister if she had been there and she said no so we stopped. We both got the blue salad it was big and very good, but I didn't like the red cabbage in it, it was kind of strong. My sister doesn't like onions in her salad but liked the fried onions on the top. After living in the south for two years for graduate school, I developed a love for fried chicken places. My go-to places were Bojangles and Zaxby's. Unfortunately, the closest Bojangles is in Tennessee (pause to cry a bit). One night when I was in Greenwood, I found that there was a Zaxby's. I most likely violated a few traffic laws to pull into the parking lot. When I arrived, the appearance of the restaurant was super clean with employees with smiles on their faces. I would say that the Zaxby's menu isn't the most extensive or creative but, I enjoy the types of options they have. Their fried chicken was super fresh and hot when I received the plate. Each order is served with crispy Texas toast. I would say that the prices are a bit higher than their competing chicken places (Popeyes, KFC, etc). However, I think the service and cleanliness of the location makes up for that. Another great item on the Zaxby's menu is the Zax Sauce. I'm not sure what is in the sauce but, I would put it on ice cream (okay, maybe not). The sauce is a bit spicy, a bit mayo-y. It pairs very well with the chicken and even dipping the Texas toast into. The drink selection is great, with one of the Coca Cola Freestyle machines. There are healthier options on the menu. The healthier items include salad, with the option of grilled chicken rather than the normal fried chicken. The healthy items also come with the Texas Toast. When leaving, I used the restroom. I must say that the restroom at this location was super clean and tidy. It looked more like a fancy restaurant bathroom, rather than a fast food restaurant. It was nice to see Zaxby's in Indy and I will continue to drop in to get the delicious taste of chicken (and Zax Sauce)! read more

Great salads but a little inconsistent especially if you ask for one without something due to allergy (cucumbers). Still some underneath like they simply picked out what they saw rather than make a new one without cucumbers. Has happened twice here, first time I complained to manager and they replaced meal. Very disappointed in my experience. I had Zaxby's once before in the south and enjoyed it, so I thought this was a sure bet. Chicken is my favorite food so I was excited to go here. I wanted the chicken finger plate which comes with fries and coleslaw. I inquired about switching the coleslaw with the cheese curds and was told it would be a slight up charge -- no problem! The plate is nearly $7 and I ordered a medium drink (another $2.09). Imagine my surprise when my meal totaled more than $12. When I asked at the window what the up charge was, the girl said she didn't know and that she only knows there's an up charge... Turns out it's an extra $2.50 just to substitute. Fair enough... I guess I should have asked the exact amount (I honestly expected $1 or so). Getting home I was ready to devour the best $12+ chicken tenders I'd ever had... Only to discover my chicken tenders were the size of nuggets and so dry I could barely bite into them. The fries were cold and they had forgotten my dipping sauce. I won't return. Go to Jaggers--- their chicken is delicious and half the price! read more

We went to Zaxby's last night to check out the latest new chicken joint in Greenwood. Because it's new, and the novelty had not yet worn out it's welcome, it was also swamped with business. That is one of the reasons my review will only yield two stars. They were simply unprepared and unable to keep up with the large volume of business they were faced with. We just ordered our food and got out of there as quickly as possible. First of all, I noted that they don't serve bone-in chicken; just chicken breast strips and patties in various combinations. We ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich, the chicken strip sandwich w/ fries, and the chicken dinner with fries and a side of coleslaw. We also were hankering for some onion rings and the fried mushrooms (one of my personal weaknesses). The chicken strips were just OK. They tasted plain and a bit bland. They didn't have a zip of flavor as far as the breading goes. The bun for the sandwich was low quality and nothing special. The 'grilled' Cajun chicken sandwich was very thick, tough and rubbery. The smattering of Cajun spice that was on it did not help it either. The fries were OK. The coleslaw was also a bit bland, and was not a standout by all means. It did taste better and more balanced than the mostly sugar type cole slaw recipes at some other fast food restaurants. They include a large piece of Texas type toast with the combo meal. It's drenched in what I can only describe as a buttery greasy looking substance (more than likely - heart seizing margarine). I didn't dare touch it. The onion rings were palatable for the most part. They, as well as the mushrooms, were coated with a different and spicer type of breading. The mushrooms are tiny slices - not whole. My other problem with them was the fact that they were dripping with grease. It was almost like after they pulled them from the fryer, they poured some more grease on them. I had to literally pat them with my paper napkins to absorb the extra oil in order to eat them; after I ate a few, I just gave up. The dipping sauces are somewhat flavorful, but after I read the ingredients, I quit using them. Unfortunately they are mass produced and prepackaged. And,... along with that, they disappointingly have high fructose corn syrup in them as well. That's a no-no in my culinary world these days. After the government recently passed the law banning the use of high fructose corn syrups, many processed foods will not be allowed to use that ingredient anymore. That day can't get here soon enough. Hopefully any type of hydrogenated oil will be the next poison removed from the ingredients list. Sadly, I had much 'gastric regret' with this experience. Low quality is mostly what you get for the money at Zaxbys. And it's amazing how much one can spend when visiting these types of restaurants. In regard to the quality of the food, it just doesn't add up. For three people, we spent $29.00. We could have gone to a better/different (sit down) restaurant and not have spent much more than that. Of course we more than likely would've received better quality food and a better experience overall. I am sorry that I can not rank it anywhere in the realm of chicken nirvana. Zaxbys was a disappointment in many respects. I was expecting more overall upscale tasting chicken and other delectable offerings. When it comes to this type of chicken food fare, Popeyes across the street wins out - but barely. I would safely say that you are better off just going to Culver's and calling it a day. read more

One star is being nice! When this place first opened I would rate it 5 stars and then after a couple months and it went down hill fast. Nothing comes out fresh. I went through the drive thru one night and when I got home I had no bacon on my club. (My fav part) so I called and they said that they had been out of bacon for a few days and forgot to tell me. My daughter and I walked in obviously looking at the menu of the recently opened store, we were asked if we were ready to order, the same when asked again approximately 10 seconds later and seemed frazzled. My daughter walked up to counter and a male employee walks by with an unlit cigarette in his mouth. It was tacky, she looked at him with surprise and he gave her a dirty look. Mgr told her he would handle it, as we left he loudly announced that he handled it. Poor reflection on your company, food was OK, staff not so much, more training needed perhaps? read more

Family friends and coworkers told us about amazing Zaxbys is, and honestly, they were totally WRONG! We arrived and ordered our food, but my sister and I both noticed the high prices and calorie count (not that we are calorie counters). I opted for grilled chicken instead of the fried chicken. We sat down and not too later we got our good. My mother got chicken tenders without sauce, and they were awfully small. My father ordered a sandwich with sauce. My brother also got chicken tenders which again, were small. We ordered cheese curds and fries as well. We began eating and wanted to throw our food out. It was disgusting. The food was dry, bad tasting, and wasn't worth the price. We didn't want to waste money, so we ate anyways. We couldn't even finish half our meals, it was that bad. I tried some of my mothers food, and the chicken tenders, which they're known for, and if I've said it once I've said it 1000 times, it was disgusting. According to my dad, even with the sauce, it was still horrid. We left unsatisfied. We won't be returning any time soon. We'll just stick with our leading lady Chick-Fil-A, because the food is actually worth the price. I do not recommend Zaxbys. I'd give it negative stars if I could. read more

Cutting a celery stick in four thin slices is cheap azz. Spicing the chicken up with sauce instead cooking it in spice is cheap azz.

Agree with Deb. Zero flavor. We ordered the chicken fingers plate and the buffalo chicken plate. The only thing that had any flavor was the Zaxbys sauce. Soggy onion rings and the fries had way too much season salt. Also agree with Deb about the Coke machine. There were at least 6 people waiting the entire time we were there. Service was adequate, but if you want good chicken, Chik Filet is right up the road. We won't bevreturning to Zaxsby anytime soon. read more
