I've been going to zaza literally since Larissa first opened the Bucktown location in 2011. It was the cleanest, nicest and warmest nail salon I'd ever been to-i even continued driving all the way in from the suburbs because I couldn't find another salon that compared-sadly now I will have to because ZaZa now has new owners and the quality is gone. I went in a couple of weeks ago for a regular mani pedi and while I understand the trend of Russian/dry manicures, I'm not really a fan but fine-whatever. Except the tech was clearly not trained properly with the drill-three of my cuticles were literally bleeding to the point that I had to get up and go wash my hands. And the same thing had happened on a couple of my toes. She didn't even acknowledge it. Personally, I would prefer the regular nail file but especially if they don't know how to properly use the drill! Sadly, I won't be back. read more

This has been my go-to nail studio for the past 3-4 years and it's been great. My most recent experience, however, was truly terrible. I paid over $100 for a gel mani and regular pedi, plus tip. The gel manicure was the wrong shade and different from what I had selected - I try not to be too picky so I went with it and didn't complain. The manicure lasted LESS than 1 WEEK (at the $55 price point, I was incredibly frustrated. Three nails chipped and multiple nails werent painted particularly well. My manicurist cut me three times, once really badly on my finger nail which didnt stop bleeding for two days. The other two cuts were on my toes, which she continued to put alcohol onto. The pedicure was regular polish, and was sloppily painted on, fully chipping within THREE days of getting them done. Needless to say, I'm incredibly dissatisfied with my recent experience, and wary to go back. read more

Save yourself the trouble and don't come here. The rude and unhinged blonde woman who owns this place is a nightmare. I've been put off by her for a long time but kept coming back because I almost always received a good manicure but never again. I made the mistake of asking for the Wi-Fi password and was verbally accosted and talked down to about it. Sorry I wanted to use your Wi-Fi literally once out of the many times I come here what a total idiot I must be! I don't know what this lady's deal is but if I never see/talk to her again it would be too soon. They raised the prices and took away complimentary drinks and now they just speak rudely to their customers... cool. They don't offer anything that any other nail salon offers so save yourself the confusing misplaced anger of this woman. Also I'd like to mention that I don't look like the normal clientele in Bucktown (I'm usually in comfy clothes/sweats and I have tattoos) but come on treat all of your customers the same EDIT: they responded to my google review with this really long winded nasty non apology so I'm going to call them out on google and Yelp. They will never care about any of their complaints or the customers who receive the wrath of the blonde manager woman. They said they watched surveillance footage and none of my tattoos were visible so what I said didn't matter (they were visible because my ankles/forearms/wrists are tattooed and I had everything rolled up as one does to get a mani/pedi. These people running this place are wildly rude and will try to gaslight you into thinking your the problem. DO NOT GO HERE! The space is super trendy. The receptionist does an amazing job of keeping the salon flowing nicely. The staff works together to keep the salon clean & stocked. Not sure why this place has so many negative reviews on pedicures. Both mine and my husband's were amazing. My pedicure was very thorough and detailed in all the right places. And my toes looked amazing! I loved my tech. I hate I didn't get her name. I had a different tech for my nails though. She made me a tad bit uncomfortable. Apparently another nail tech took the table that she was supposed to do my nails at and that PISSED HER OFF! She verbally expressed her anger in this very quiet space which made it even more awkward. I went to ZaZaZoo on a Sunday afternoon, no appointment, just a walk in. I was seated immediately after choosing my color and soaked for about 15 minutes before my nail technician started on my hands. Color selection for no chip feels a little limited compared to other salons, but they had what I wanted so I was okay with it. My nail tech was very thorough and got the exact shape/length that I wanted and even asked if I wanted a third coat. This is a quiet, relaxing salon that looks and feels very modern. Some minor things: -not sure where the equipment came from. most salons usually rip into the pouch after it's been sterilized, but they just walk out with all the tools in a barbicide jar. -inconsistent in offering complementary beverages and shoulder massages. not a huge deal for me, but if it's something you're expecting, you might have to ask for it. -cash only tip! read more

I assume they minimized it in order to design the private party room in the back which includes manicure stations. Love this place! They are very accommodating even when I call day of for an appointment. I think they are reasonably priced for the area and the quality. I usually get a no chip and it usually lasts about 3 weeks. The space is bright and clean. They have many more precautions now due to covid, but I have always felt safe there. Three-stars for the techs that did the manicure. They were good, thorough and did their job. The lack of stars for the very rude check-in lady. I called and made an appointment for 2 mani-pedi and confirmed it with her on the phone. She even gave me times to pick from which indicated they are wide open. When we got there, she refused the pedicure cuz apparently she didn't hear me. That's fine..mistakes happen but customer service 101 would suggest that you at least acknowledge the mishap or at the very least show some effort to squeeze us into what looked like a very open afternoon with maybe one or two other clients. To take time out of our schedule to make TWO mani-pedi appointments, you'd think they would realize that it's not something I would try to add last mnt. My favorite nail salon in the neighborhood! I just moved to Wicker Park and my friend recommended this place. I'm so glad she did! I go here religiously every two weeks for both a pedicure and gel manicure. The salon is very clean and I love the color scheme - all white interior with pink accents. They also offer you a LaCroix when you walk in which is a plus! The only downside (and it's not really a downside) is that you pretty much have to have an appointment. However, after making an appointment I've never had to wait (which is what happens sometimes at other salons). They also do not accept tips on a credit card so definitely bring cash. The spa pedicure itself was an enjoyable experience and the woman doing my nails was nice and checked in when she needed to. My skin feels soft and the color looks great. However, The less enjoyable part came at the end since we had to book our appointment at the end of the day after work. We finished our nails at 7 (an hour before close) and sat at the stations to dry. The ladies started vacuuming and cleaning up around us! I felt bad for the woman still in the process of getting her pedicure. what was supposed to be a relaxing environment was ruined by their lack of consideration for their customers. I've been a customer for 2+ years. Today was the worst experience I've had. I hesitated writing this because overall the salon is very good. But today, the pedicure was nothing less than strange. (I wont use her name) was rushing, barely spending any time on exfoliation of my feet. Skipped my legs, which is always done, and would not even dry my legs! I asked about lotion and she ignored me. She kept saying "this is how we do it" It is not. I've been there multiple times. I asked for a new towel so that I didn't have to put my feet in the gel used on my legs. This place is fantastic! The staff is really helpful, even when I contact the day before an appointment. What a difference the no-chip nails have made in my life! Although I've had my no chip procedure performed multiple times at several salons, this is the first time it has lasted. It's been more than two weeks and it's still looking excellent! The ambiance is bright and fresh. The decor is quite fashionable. The receptionist does a fantastic job of keeping the salon running smoothly and efficiently. The entire crew works together to maintain the salon clean and well-stocked with products. Their customer service is also excellent, and the employees are quite kind. Furthermore, as a response of Covid, they have taken numerous additional safeguards, but I have always felt safe at that place. It's BYOB and they are more than willing to provide cups and also sparkling water. The ladies who work here are chatty and sociable, which sometimes is not the case at nail salons. I went back to the salon for a touch up and they were very accommodating and fixed the nails that chipped, but then two days later the other nails started chipping. First off, this place looks clean and seems relatively organized. I give the owner props for the look of the salon-- it's simple but hip. I wasn't too happy about the service though. First and last time. I shouldn't have betrayed my regular nail salon in the suburbs! I honestly feel bad to write this because the owner of the shop seemed like a truly nice person. She was constantly buzzing around the salon delivering amazing customer service -- bringing people La Croixs, opening doors, and helping carry things over to drying stations or pedicure chairs. But the fact of the matter is that my mani-pedi here was less than stellar. For $35 (a Monday through Wednesday special) I didn't feel too put out, but it took OVER an hour and 40 minutes for an imperfect end result. The woman used toenail clippers to trim my nails -- and it took her two hands to chomp down on them. I honestly should have left then. She proceeded to file my nails down to the point where there was no white left, and my cuticles were left bleeding and ragged. The majority of my nail beds were bright red -- she was so incredibly rough. When I noticed bubbling with the polish and asked that it be fixed, the manicurist looked very irritated. I felt the bubbling with another finger and noticed that it was because my nail itself was rough at the end. I asked if maybe rounding out the nail could help? To which she responded "They're just so so short." Uh, yeah, you made them that way... I came in with long, strong nails that just needed some polish and shaping. Here, they were butchered. The end result was awful, and the polish was streaky, each coat's lines showing. I was hoping for a relaxing, confidence boosting pick-me-up and this was definitely not it. I won't be back. read more
