Somehow last week I tweaked my lower back and my neck, so it was suggested to me that acupuncture might be a good thing to try. So after calling Zen Garden, they suggested a 90 minute session with Anton where he would combine acupuncture with Tui Na (a form of Chinese massage) to hopefully bring me some relief. Well, they had me at the word "relief", so I said "sign me up!" When you first walk into the lobby, your nose is immediately assaulted by the wonderful aroma of the essential oils bubbling in the diffuser (assuming you haven't lost your sense of smell from Covid that is). But I could definitely smell it, and it was heavenly, so yay! No Covid. Point for me. I went ahead and checked in and was handed the normal paperwork with the usual questions: name, date of birth, where does it hurt, mother's maiden name, street you grew up on, favorite pet's name... no, I'm only kidding. It wasn't quite that bad. But there were a lot of questions. After I turned in the paperwork, I was asked to take off my shoes and leave them on the mat by the front door. That's when I realized I'd walked right by everyone else's shoes on my way in. Whoops! My bad. Blonde moment. Finally Anton came and brought me back to the room. There were two tables, I suppose for if couples want to get side-by-side massages, but it was just little 'ol me today. I "dressed down to my comfort level" (you know, the usual spiel), got face down on the table (which was heated, thankfully), then waited for Anton to come back in the room. I have to say that the Tui Na method of massage was definitely different than what I was used to with traditional Swedish or deep tissue massage. Even though it was my neck and lower back that were hurting, he didn't concentrate only on those areas. He also focused on other areas of my body that were "on the same channel" that could be causing or at least adding to my issue. Now let me tell you, this was definitely not your relaxing, girls day at the spa, let's sip champagne and munch on chocolate covered strawberries kind of massage. This was intense. I'm not going to lie. But all throughout, Anton kept asking me, "is this pressure okay?", "is this too much?", and I desperately wanted to feel better, so I let him work me over pretty good. And I could definitely feel my muscles starting to relax. After about 50 mins, it was time for the needles. I was slightly nervous, but there was really no reason for it. Anton was a definite pro. I hardly felt the needles go in at all. And I literally had them from head to toe. I even had a few in my tummy. Don't ask me why. I can't even begin to explain how it's all connected. You'll have to ask Anton when you go for your visit. But overall, it was pretty relaxing. Once I had laid there for awhile feeling like a human pincushion, trying not to accidentally dislodge any needles (to which I was "mostly" successful), Anton came back in the room and removed the remaining needles, which didn't hurt in the least. And then it was time for me to get dressed. He met me out in the hallway with some tea, and I was headed home to see how I felt. I did have some mild relief last night, and today I noticed a little more improvement once I was up and moving around. Mostly in my lower back, but not so much in my neck. So am I totally healed? No. Will I try it again? Well, I'm still undecided. Overall, I loved the place and I loved the people. And Anton was amazing. But it was rather expensive, so I don't know if I've had enough of an improvement (at least for me personally) to justify paying that kind of money to do it again. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm from out of town and was in search of a good massage place. Came across Zen Garden on Yelp and fell in love!! They were kind enough to squeeze me in last minute and got my first 90min Tui Na massage done with Joanna. I look forward to coming back!

Pretty basic food and service. Decent for a quick and cheaper eat but a further drive out is probably worth it for something better.

Literally googled Chinese medicine close to me. If you are looking for all the frills of a modern medical office this isn't your place. But if you look beyond the simple space and trust his practice I find him to be extraordinary. Dr Mao is incredibly intuitive, asks all the right questions and most important to me, he spends all the time that is needed to test and answer any questions I might have. He is so positive he can help and he has helped me so much. I've been using him for about 2 months now and 90% of the time my lungs almost feel normal. He's the real deal. I would recommend him to anyone who is open and willing to give this method a try. Good luck to anyone seeking help on their health you will be in good hands.

I would give six stars if I could. And I found her here on Yelp…read more Stephanie called me back on a Friday night for what I termed an emergency appointment, and fit me in late on Saturday. That's right, she put off her weekend for me. My poor old body is out of whack from joint disease and stressful living, and Stephanie was the first and only person to return my call. I am in so much pain I can't even turn over on the massage table. Between her hands and her feet, I can actually function better 24 hours later. I wasn't expecting miracles, and I needed the kind of hands-on therapy where everything's a little sore the next day. IT WORKS. She's also incredibly sweet and had some good ideas for dealing with my latest immobility problem. I want to recommend her highly so that there's ongoing financial support for her business, but at the same time, I don't want her to be unavailable next time I'm in the region. Tough call. And the cupcakes at Kyra's (formerly known as Crave) which are just below Stephanie's business are monstrously good.

Blissful Massage is located in a suite right above Crave Bake Shop; it always smells delicious as you walk up towards the suite. It's a small space but it feels very tranquil. Stephanie is the only LMT so she's the only one welcoming you and processing your payment on top of giving you your massage. But I think that's great because it gives you a chance to chat for a bit longer about what you need work on and what's sore rather than feeling rushed. Booking with Stephanie is also convenient, which I really like. I've done all my bookings (and some cancellations and re-scheduling) online. At my first session, I filled out the usual forms, and we talked about my history and what I was hoping to gain from the session. I've been back several times since then for relaxation, stress-relief, and pain relief. Stephanie always takes the time at the start of each session to get an idea for what you need. I've only ever gone for the deep tissue massage, but I believe she also offers Thai massage (which I need to try soon!) and on my recent visit I noticed some cups for the Chinese cupping massage. Highly recommended! And you can even treat yourself with some gluten-free cupcakes and/or deliciously authentic Japanese food afterwards from the stores below!

New business opening. Saw an ad and went in for a 75 minute half massage have acupuncture…read moretreatment. This one was advertised for relaxation. Went through intake forms and received a wonderful head and shoulder massage. She used techniques on my shoulder that I do not get at other places and it's a traditional Chinese technique that felt wonderful. For acupuncture, she put some needles in my foot my hand and my face. She put warm red lamp on my abdomen area and it felt wonderful. It was super relaxing. I was not laying there for an hour. But I can't tell you how long that was there. I went out feeling fresh and relaxed. I'm interested in going back again. This is amazing. I don't have to drive all the way to Beaverton or 30+ minutes away to get acupuncture treatment. Based on my experience with massage and acupuncture in the past, she's excellent. Do look at the instructions in the email when you book an appointment. I took a picture of the front door because it doesn't look like her studio, but it is a room which is part of a larger set of other businesses. So you're not getting your nails done, you will just wait in their waiting area and she'll come out when she's ready. So happy there's easy parking in the back.
