Zephyr Apartments - Apartments Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Beware of the Bait & Switch. I was shown a unit that was guaranteed to be the exact same one becoming available. I decided to apply and put down the deposit and reserve the unit. 4 hours later I received an email that the unit was not nearly the same as the unit I was shown. No deck. No bedroom. Different square footage. Non-simlar layout. I have yet to receive any refund for the $400 deposit and $40 application fee. They offered me $25 off the rent price as a consolidation for the error. This occurred on Saturday 8/11/2018. The craigslist ad for the same unit is still running as of today, 08/15/2018. It was also updated 48 hours ago as of today. They have had five days to remove the false ad but have failed to do so. Even updating it. This "mistake" also caused a 10+ point credit score drop. Please beware of such tactic. This has also been reported to Washington State Attorney General for their practice. read more

AVOID ZEPHYR! Zephyr attempted to bill me a ridiculous amounts after moving out for routine maintenance, and is attempting to bill me again now, 3 years after moving out. DO NOT MOVE HERE unless you enjoy random unwarranted bills. read more

While this building looks new and very appealing, the apartments are built incredibly cheap and the management staff is less than helpful. Don't let all of the bells and whistles fool you - it's not worth the price. While I lived here, the roof was out of service the entire time (and yes, this was during the summer), the water pressure in the shower was terrible, the sink faucets were screwed on backwards, and there was absolutely no cell reception, save for a small corner of the living room. They don't tell you that on the tours! The area is also very noisy - Hotcakes stays open late on weekends and you can hear random chatter from anywhere in the apartment. If you're looking for a west-facing apartment (and one with a view), know that the apartment gets incredibly hot during the summer without a breeze to cool it off. Also, upon move out, the management will nickel and dime you for everything they've got. Expect very little money back from your security deposit, even if you leave the apartment sparkling. read more

Extremely overpriced apartments in a decent neighborhood. What I like about these apartments: * Friendly staff * Location is on the quieter and safer end of Capitol Hill * Balcony was a decent size * Maintenance requests were answered very quickly, and I didn't really have to put too many in Cons: * They switch staff almost monthly, you never know who they are because they rarely bother with introductions * with all the people that work in the office (they're split between two other locations down the street), the office is closed quite often, which is really inconvenient when you've got packages or emergency situations * the package situation is abysmal: if you go on vacation or are away when they're delivered, packages are strewn in the lobby or mailbox area, sometimes get lost * people come in and out of the complex all the time, even if they don't live there--I've had people knock on my door near midnight to sell newspapers, campaigners leaving flyers in my door * The trash room is disgusting, and quite the effort to get to, particularly when so many comps in the area have trash chutes * dependent on your apartment layout, storage is very minimal * beautiful rooftop with no wifi, so makes it significantly less useful * Pacific Crest Real Estate: terrible management company: we switched payment systems at least 3 times in the 1 year that I lived there, they didn't even have Zephyr registered as one of their complexes (I got locked out of my room, called the number provided, and had to wait on the phone for over an hour while they tried to figure out if Zephyr was one of the properties they managed or not (?!)) * this is probably a Seattle thing, but the parking spots are TINY and yet somehow $200/mo I think there are a lot of other apartments in the area that are a bit cheaper and have better amenities, more consistent staff, and overall are a better monthly value. I will reiterate though, the staff is extremely friendly, so that's a nice to have. read more

Great location and amenities, but I've never lived in a building less willing to work their tenants. For example, I just realized I was charged for an extra pet for an entire year because I told the leasing manager at the time that I might move my cat with me. After asking for a credit, I was told that "unfortunately, there's nothing we can do." This roughly translates to "unfortunately, we know there's nothing you can do about it." Additionally, they have a very odd transfer policy where you'll be "on the hook" for both units unless they rent out your original unit, which they really aren't incentivized to do if you're still legally obligated to pay for both units. With those two things and a few 6am fire alarms due to faulty sensors (and water damage, if you happened to be on the second floor), I'd highly recommend steering clear. You could get a lot more value out of overpriced rent somewhere else. read more

As I am about to reach three years living at Zephyr, I wanted to take the time to share why I choose to stay. The property managers over the years and now are more than I could ever expect. They adapt to the needs of those of us who live there and makes living here feel more like a home I own than one I rent. Property Manager Shina is responsive to all questions and requests, is proactively helpful and greets every situation with a smile and can-do attitude. My apartment is a single bedroom with den and it has become my Seattle sanctuary. Maintenance and upkeep of the apartments and shared spaces is efficient and accommodating to my ability to be present or not. The only reason I am giving a four star rating and not a five is because I am really not a fan of the garbage room situation that is traumatic on some occasions :) Good place to live. Great apartment in Capitol Hill! We moved from NYC to Seattle in Sept 2016 and wanted to continue city living. Zephyr is super clean and new. Our unit faces west and we have amazing views of the Olympics and the Space Needle. We get a ton of light in the summer. We're really happy with our unit. Two thumbs up for the building's rooftop. I can walk to work (South Lake Union), the Cap Hill neighborhood has pretty much everything you would need and the Light Link is a few blocks away. Shina, the Assistant Manager, is super friendly and updates residents when necessary. The only negatives are the parking spots are tight and we pay pet rent for our cat but I think both of these are typical in Seattle - we just have to get used to it :) I'd definitely recommend Zephyr if you'd like to live in a new building in Cap Hill and are ok being a little walk from the Pike/Pine action. read more

This place was a decent place to live until it came time to move out. Phuong, the building manager, started to evade my emails about getting our security deposit back. Then when she finally got in touch, she alerted us that she would be keeping almost our entire deposit despite the fact that there were no damages. She made us pay for the routine carpet cleaning and painting that Zephyr does in between each tenant. When it came time for her to send the small bit of our security deposit back, she said she could not guarantee the check was sent out and had no visibility into it. As you are considering living here, keep in mind that you will get nickel and dimed and need to fight for your basic rights as a tenant. read more

I moved here from a more pricey apartment building in Seattle, and almost instantly fell in love with the location. After living here for over a year, I can say with confidence that this place is a great fit for me and my dog! I especially like the management - Shina and Brittany! They are both very friendly, genuine and attentive to concerns :) All in all, if you like a location just off the main road, so it is noisy when you walk out but calm when you enter the building(rest of the prices etc seem to be either slightly below or at par with new buildings in Seattle), I think this is a great place to stay! read more

I lived here for a little over a year and really enjoyed it. Having lived in many apartments in many cities over the years including NYC, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Portland and a few abroad (Paris, London, and Sydney), I have experience when it comes to the rental market. Zephyr was the nicest apartment I lived in. There was a row house in Philly that was pretty special but that was a house. My apartment was on the 7th floor facing West and I think it had one of the best views in the entire building. I could see downtown, the Puget Sound, Olympic Mountains, the Space Needle, Queen Anne and a tiny part of Lake Union. It was a spacious one bedroom plus den with a nice open layout. There were some things that seemed a little cheap like the paint. If I so much as leaned a chair against a wall it would make a mark, but it was a rental I figured. Anytime I needed something fixed Shalen, the maintenance guy was quick to answer the call. The walls were pretty thick and I hardly ever heard my neighbors, and all of whom I met were very considerate and nice. The building is super dog-friendly with no breed or weight restrictions. They always had treats in the office for my pup who would pull me in there before going out. Marissa and Joy were also very conscientious, warm, and accommodating. The common areas were rarely used so you can surely take advantage of the gym, roof deck, and TV areas.. I wouldn't have taken the unit without parking but the garage was not great. I was very fortunate because for the first 6 months there was no one parked on one side of me. My dog had had a TPLO operation, which is basically an ACL repair to her knee and with cars parked on both sides, I wasn't able to open the doors fully. In fact, when that occurred, I would have to park the car, get my dog out, tie her to the door to some electrical room, get back in the car, park it and then get out. I saw other renters do the same for carrying groceries. I really thought this was just Zephyr's poor garage planning until I started parking in garages around Seattle and realized that Seattle garages are just as tight. In no other city have I experienced this! All in all, Zephyr was a fantastic place to live. It may be on the spendier side but you pay for what you get and Zephyr was worth it. read more

We moved to Seattle from Florida in November 2014. At our wit's end searching for a comfortable, safe place to call home in Capitol Hill, we stumbled upon Zephyr Apartments. This is a brand new, green, modern, & fabulous apartment building. Zephyr is managed by two engaged, responsive, professional women who really have made us feel at home! Our apartment is roomy, and has a perfect kitchen for cooking. It is a great layout for roommates or family, and we have already entertained with ease. We have met all of our neighbors on our floor, and many on other floors. This is a blend of interesting professionals from diverse backgrounds and places. Zephyr is a great place to live! First of all, it is new. It also has very livable floor plans, and boasts a perfect location. We are one mile from Pike's Place Market, we walk to work at Swedish, and we walk to a myriad of hip restaurants in our neighborhood. Our neighbors are great, and we just love our management team. I have lived in a different apartment every year for the past eight years. Living in Zephyr has been a great experience. We have an amazing view from our living room of the Space Needle and downtown skyline. All the appliances are new. It's amazing to have a dishwasher and washer and dryer in the unit. We have plenty storage. It's nice having someone to collect packages during the day. My favorite two aspects of the apartment are actually the rooftop and balcony. The balcony is important for me because it is just enough space for a small urban garden. The rooftop is amazing for extending our space while hosting friends. It has an amazing view of downtown, sunsets, and the fireworks in July. It has a Weber grill for all to use as well. We love going up there a few times a week to mix it up by grilling and dining in our amazing Seattle summer weather. read more

I have been living at the Zephyr for about two months now and I couldn't be happier with it. The location is perfect for me. Easy access to everything Capitol Hill has to offer, but also super convenient to get around Seattle. I drive a lot for work, so being close to I-5 is really nice. The neighborhood is very quiet, especially considering it is in Capitol Hill. I lived in Ballard prior to this, which was surprisingly very loud compared to the Zephyr. The layouts are really nice. I have found that most of the buildings I have looked at in Seattle have really strange apartment layouts. The Zephyr was one of the first that had really normal layouts that just made sense. I stumbled upon the Zephyr when I was out looking at apartments in the area and they had just opened for sales that day. I saw a majority of the units in the building and they all have great layouts. The finishes are very nice: Gorgeous counters, HE washer dryer, nice floors, lots of windows. The views are outstanding. You can see the water and the space needle from many of the units and the rooftop. I noticed some reviews claiming they are overpriced. The apartments aren't cheap, but they certainly aren't overpriced when compared to the buildings in the area. It is barely more than I paid to live in Ballard and certainly much nicer. It is also about the same as most of the units I looked at around Capitol Hill. If you are looking for a quiet place in capitol hill with access to easily get around the city, you should definitely take a look at the Zephyr. read more

I'm updating my review based on the move out experience I have had which is worth noting to others as you weigh your options. This is now requiring me to take them to small claims court so I do not have to pay the nail patch and painting charges they told me "they would do". So you are warned in advance, you will have to pay for: 1) Carpet cleaning (they write that into your lease which it is usually considered normal wear and tear most places) 2) Cleaning: No matter what, when you leave they hire a cleaning service to go through and clean everything so it's just the way they like it. This is around $120. During my second walk through the Zephyr manager actually told me not to clean knowing it was going to be a charge (which I already knew from the bad first experience). I was so irritated the first time I moved apartments (I moved to a larger unit) as I spent hours cleaning the other unit just to still get slapped with the cleaning charge. So, do not even bother vacuuming or cleaning. 3) I just moved from my second unit (to a different company) where upon doing move out inspection (nail hole putty in hand), I asked "Should I fill the holes?" to the reply "No, we will do that" - not "We will do that and charge you a few hundred dollars. This is just bad business. I'm used to some bad experiences moving from San Francisco where the rental market is a nightmare, but this one is getting pretty up there. So, while I still stand that the apartment was great while I lived there (albeit overpriced for the area which is why I finally moved a few blocks away), this move out nightmare has left a really bad taste in my mouth. So, be prepared for a good experience while you are there, but to just kiss your security deposit goodbye. Also, if you are looking at apartments facing the Needle - Those units get SO hot that we had to get a mini AC for it to be bearable. If you are looking at a unit facing Olive - The traffic is really loud so you can never sleep with a window open to get fresh air. read more

I have lived at the Zephyr for over a month now and the building is great. It is very modern with all new appliances, cabinetry, etc. They have a lot of different floor plans, all of which are 500 plus sq feet. It definitely is a pricey building, but so is every other new building on the hill. I also think it is a lot nicer with way better quality apartments than many others I have looked at. The rooftop deck here has an unobstructed view of all of Seattle and is amazing. I cannot wait for better weather to make use out of it. It's very close to bus lines and a walk away from plenty of awesome bars and restaurants. Marissa and Rosetta have been great and very accommodating with any and all questions I have had since I moved in and both always wave and say hi. I have had a couple of issues come up while living here, mostly due to Pacific Crest policy not being set out or clear, but again, the staff was very gracious and did not discount the concerns I had. read more

Last week was a great reminder of why I am grateful to have found Zephyr. I had a maintenance issue, nothing major, but something that ideally would have been fixed before the holidays. Sarrah not only fixed the issues, but did it taking my dog sitter and my work schedule into account, during (what I can only assume) is a busy maintenance week due to the holiday. Beyond the maintenance team, the management team does an incredible job of creating a community here. Arielle is kind and accommodating and goes above and beyond her duties by creating thoughtful tenant events and opportunities to connect with our neighbors. The entire Zephyr team makes this building feel like a community and I'm very appreciative for their hard work. read more

I have lived at Zephyr for almost a month now and I absolutely love it! I came to view one of the units one day and instantly loved the building and smaller community. Moving from Belltown to Capitol Hill I wasn't sure whether I would like it, but I love the neighborhood Zephyr is located in, and it's a quiet more safe part of the hill. Marissa and Rosetta are great, really welcoming, and always on top of things when you need something done to make sure you feel right at home. The apartments are pretty and spacious, and the rooftop deck is amazing! Definitely look into living here. read more

I've lived here for a year and just signed on for another year. I really love the location, the amenities (the rooftop is awesome) and the management. It can seem a bit pricey, but it's superior to anything you'll find in this neighborhood and the property manager, Aurora, makes sure you are taken care of. I have to say that I'm absolutely happy with being in Zephyr Apartments. It's convenient and based on the growth rate of Seattle i am glad to have gotten in when we did. The staff have been great and when there may be an issue it is resolved as quickly as can be. Paying online portal is a huge plus for me and the views are out of this world. I recommend them and sorry that others have been so negative when every building is going to have a bump here and there. This unit is brand new and I have a place to park and I can walk anywhere. Being new to Seattle I was warned about the change that Capitol Hill was under going. I personally love seeing a historic neighborhood become gentrified as long as it isn't taken over by money hungry developers with no care for or concern for the actual people who live in it. It's really sad to me when these poor leasing agents are told to lie to potential tenants just to make more money where they can. This is a beautiful OVERPRICED building that should realize that all they really have is a little better view then a couple other apartments but the same exact cabinets, floors and layouts as EVERY other building on the hill. Zephyr is a brand new apartment building in the Capitol Hill neighbourhood in Seattle. It's really well located close to a nice Starbucks as well as a convenient bus station that's served by lines 8 to the Seattle center and 43 to downtown. But you won't really need the bus as most places can easily be reached by foot, it only takes 15 to get to Westlake Center, 20 to Pike Place Market or to SLU if you work for Amazon. And being in Capitol Hill there's tons of places around for Nightlife, eating out and shopping. The building itself is nice and modern, with all the usual amenities such as fitness room, club lounge, rooftop terrace, controlled access & package reception. The fitness room has all the necessary equipment for cardio & strength workouts. The club lounge is a bit small, but has a nice gallery view. The best amenity by far however is the rooftop with a terrific view on the city skyline & the space needle, with the sea & the mountains in the background. The apartments are modern and spacious. They are very well lit so you won't need to add many more lamps, if at all. The studios come with big breakfast bars so you won't need a dining table either, just some matching bar stools. This leaves more space for other furniture; you will be easily able to fit in a king size bed, a sofa and some small desk to do some work. The kitchen comes with a ceramic stove + oven, microwave, dishwasher and a big fridge and plenty of storage cabinets. Unfortunately, the fridge can be a bit loud at times, though normally only for a few minutes. The apartment also comes with washer & dryer and a spacious closet for plenty of clothing (at least for a single male). The bathroom also has a lot of storage capacity and a quite nice shower + bath combo. The staff finally is really friendly and helpful and I only had good experience so far. read more

Living here was a nightmare. The alleyway was super loud, funneling noise from the bar on Olive directly into the apartment. The LED streetlights, in addition to being completely ineffective at preventing creeps from shooting up outside the apartment, were blindingly bright in the bedroom. The maintenance guy and the woman in the office are nice, but they are at the mercy of the worst property management company I have ever dealt with. I know renting anywhere sucks, but never before have I been subjecting to so many unnecessary unit inspections, with minimal notice and days-long windows. Asinine. The roof has a nice view, but it is poorly maintained. All the seat cushions were left out all the time, so they would be soaked a week after it last rained. People would leave trash up there and it would stay for days. If you value your sleep, time, money, or your privacy, don't bother with Zephyr. Plenty of better options in Capitol Hill. read more

WARNING: SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES. My boyfriend and I found a unit that we were prepared to lease in this building. When we viewed the apartment on 10/08 we were quoted a price of $1895 per month. The next day I called to place my holding deposit and pay any fees that would be due at that time to secure the place, only to find out that the asking price had increased to $1995 overnight. The leasing agent said she would contact the owners and let me know if we could still have the unit for the original price. I made it very clear that I wanted to place my deposit that day. Two more days go by, and after several attempts to contact the agent, I receive a call on 10/11. She let me know that the unit was never held for us and if we still wanted it the rent would be $2095 per month. We felt very rejected by the situation and did not understand why were given such a run-around. This is a great building in an ideal location but due to the way they conduct business I would recommend looking into one of the many other beautiful new buildings in the neighborhood. read more

Probably the worst place you can choose to live in Capitol Hill. From the staff that turns over every 3 months, to the small square footage, literally the only thing we liked about the building was the rooftop. Now that we are finally moving out we are being charged for everything from blinds to minor stains. They even double charged us for preexisting issues that we had brought to their attention prior to move in. There are countless better priced, more professionally staffed apartment complexes in the area. I'd highly recommend you don't give zephyr the luxury of unnecessarily charging you for erroneous claims. read more

I moved into this complex in April and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience! The building is well maintained, Aurora (building manager) is extremely friendly and I find the other residents to be very respectful as well! I honestly don't have any complaints. Great location, about 5min walk to the light rail station and many bus stops. It's also near broad way so many shops and stores around. Aurora is great, she responds to emails and concerns quickly. There are some nice amenities as well such as the gym, roof top deck, and a small club room. read more
