We have used ZD twice now and have been very pleased with the customer support and work that was done! First had spray insulation done for our cape home a couple years ago that made a big difference. Second time was recently for some window updates (based on state funded program). Both workers were timely, helpful, informative and did solid work. I trusted both guys hands down. Office staff has always been supportive as well. When I initially contacted them, I did email through the website and I did not hear back so I called eventually. Also, I've read that one reviewer saw a tasteless tv ad by these guys that more political than it should've been? I never saw this and though I don't agree with that, the work they've done for us has been solid. I will use them again when needed. read more

I was impressed with ZeroDraft from first consult, all the work done and final inspection. They came in and evaluated what needed to be done - Sealing crawl space, building new outside access door, rebuilding attic access. All done in one day. Cleaned up everything. They were all courteous and friendly. They were able to answer all my questions before, during and after. My house was still underconstruction when the technician arrived for the blower door test. I thought that he would prepare the house for the test, but he only installed the blower door device, said that the house "failed miserably", demanded payment, and left. My house has R35 spray foam insulation in the walls, R60 cellulose in the attic and U .27 Marvin windows, R60 cellulose in the attic. Among the things he did NOT do: - close the basement door - operate the three bath exhaust fans - operate the kitchen exhaust fan - seal the three toilet drains or four faucet drains - provide any type of written report ZeroDraft has zero integrity and is only interested in performing work that is not necessary. read more

Just cant say this enough, the new owner does not care about previous customers. I had over $20,000 in work done over the years, when Matt was the owner. Now things are needing replacement, that are covered under warranty, but the new owner (Dave) will not make things right. When you buy a door with a lifetime warranty, it is not the customers fault the business changed hands. When the AC unit needs repair, after 7 years, it is not the customers fault the business changed hands. Make things right, and you would have new business from old customers. Ignore previous owners customers and they will spread the news, stay away, shady business man! read more

We got referred to this company from NYSERDA. I was unfortunate enough to be sold a bill of goods by them. ZERODRAFT is un-professional, they are a rip off. Six thousand dollars later and I still have drafts, and cold spots. Their excuse/sell, is they need to eliminate one problem at a time. $6000 dollars later I was done. During the job, 2 of their project managers quit and I was left to deal with the next one I have since communicated with others who had similar experiences with ZEROdraft. We had minimal insulation in our over 100 year old house. When the wind started blowing from the north and I was sitting on the couch, i cou ld feel my nose getting cold. Enter Zero Draft.. after a walkabout the house Joe told us what needed to e done.(which we already knew) We signed up for attic, walls and basement insulation. It was a bit pricey but was way past due. The crews that came out were EXCELLENT!!! everyone of them. They were polite, courteous and extremely hard workers. They cleaned up everything going beyond the basics. What an asset to the company. The crawl space was extremely small, but their guys fit through. We noticed the difference immediately as the wind had picked up. Our heating bills for the last two months have been cut by 2/3. I decided to have them do all the work suggested, the installers were friendly and through. The following day a representative came out to the house and checked all the work that was done. they work like a band of gypsies, no one hs a clue of what has to be done, the salesman said they would do all this amazing work, well I had to fight with them after they replaced my furnace to plug up the old hole for the stack, wouldn't you think they would do that automatically. then after installing A/c they had to come back and fill the Freon, well I am still waiting and they will not call me back. I am filing fraud complaint with attorney general and nyserda. read more

our family Had an Energy audit, foam insulation and new window installation All in all the project went okay. However, There is a lack of communication from the company to the customer. Foam Insulation Before the first employee was on the job I stated I was not available on a certain date so no work could be done. When work started I informed the employee no work could be done on that date.The employee showed up on that date and was a little perturbed because my DISABLED wife would not let him in. Prep mans part of work. Part of the job was to move a bathroom vent exhaust that vented into attic outside. The outside wall was 1 foot away from the vent. Instead of running direct to exterior with no turns 5 to 6 feet of flexible pipe was installed running over floor with 2-3 turns to a different exterior wall. As we will eventually be finishing the attic this will need to be moved again in a few years. INSULATION itself is great with a good job done by those installers. Windows. Again had to call to get them scheduled. 2 men showed up did a great job and left. Energy audit after work done. Again had to call to get work scheduled. Once man arrived he was professional and quick The employees where all punctual on the job. Did good work and cleaned up nicely after themselves Dissatisfaction factor; The office does not communicate well after you sign a contract. Calls are not returned in a timely manner , if I call, even early in the day I may not receive a return call the same day. Scheduling not done unless I called sometimes more than once. Very friendly on phone but not customer oriented for the nuts and bolts part of the contract. . The key words to listen for when you call after you contract with them are "OH, we were just about to call you. Seems almost every time that is the excuse I heard from on employee or another. read more

Substandard install for a premium price. There communication is very bad in there business. It took them over 8 months to finish my $8000 spray foam job. They did not provide a quality install for the price. Im a returning customer, so i trusted them which was a big mistake. Don't male the mistake i made and shop around because you will be amazed at the price difference. There installers have no idea what they are doing. read more

ZeroDraft did an initial evaluation of my home. After receiving a number of energy efficient light bulbs from them, I had them come out again for a $100 evaluation of my home. They found a number of things that would tighten my house. While I did not do all of their recommendations, I did what I thought would be the most efficient. The initial cost before rebates was $3583, but with rebates fro my electric supplier, my cost was only %2084..... They came out and worked for two days, all under the supervision of the one person, who performed the $100 evaluation. They were very neat and clean and left my home much more energy efficient, but as clean and neat as when they first arrived. I would highly recommend their work, both from a cost standpoint, but also from a cleanliness standpoint. read more

I had a extremely satisfying experience with Zerodraft of CNY today. Tommy, the tech could not of been more experienced and concerned with my problem. He took his time and explained it all to me and assured me it would be fixed. He was on time, did his job, and left with a smile saying if I needed anything else call Amber and she would get the message to him. I was so impressed by his concern for me I called Amber and set up a appointment for a yearly check up. She is one of the best representatives the company could have, always seems to have a smile in her voice. So, I will have the pleasure of seeing Tommy again this year and hopefully every year after for the service call. In about 2011 we had Zerodraft do an insulation and air sealing job in our attic along with replacing two windows. I would say the insulation job was very good. I have not crawled into the attic since but I can tell the house is more comfortable. As long as they did what they said they were going to do I would say, although expensive, the insulation job was good. They boxed in 6 recessed lights, air sealed all the gaps, cracks and electrical boxes, spray foamed the stairwell portions that protrude into the attic, installed baffles, and blew in a ton of cellulose insulation. The windows that were replaced were in bad shape with bowed sills so I wanted the entire window to be removed and replaced instead of having a replacement window installed over the bowed sills. I was not home for any of the work, my wife was. We have a split level so they removed almost all of the siding on the section where the two windows were being replaced. They called this installing new construction windows. Since we were down to the bare sheathing and framing it is like installing windows on a newly constructed house. Great, I got 2011 new construction building practices on my 1978 split level house. At least that's what I thought. Forward to 2016. While we knew Zerodraft was on the expensive side, our past insulation job and others who praise Zerodraft convinced us to have two more windows replaced as well as having our over the range microwave/hood vented up through the attic and out the side of the house. I had recently replaced all of the kitchen cabinets and put in the micro-hood. I didn't want to do the venting myself because I was short on time and I wanted a professional job done. I specifically asked the salesman if they would make a nice clean cut through the cabinets because I was concerned I could not achieve that myself. I was assured that the cut would absolutely be neat. The cut through the cabinet was anything but neat. I had the original owner's manual with all the instructions and cutting template on the counter and made the installer aware. I also pointed out that this particular model required the blower fan to be reversed for roof venting and had him read that section of the manual. Well, guess what did not get used? The cutting template. There was no marking or measuring or drawing of any reference lines for the cut. The vent adapter is rectangular shaped and I got a jagged, oblong, ovular hole up to two inches larger than the size of the adapter. The upper hole, through the ceiling, had the 6" round pipe going up. To prevent the spray foam from coming back down a dam was made out of some sort of foam board. Again, another oblong random shaped piece. We have a very small kitchen, we intended to use as much of the upper cabinet space as possible. I am 6'3" so I can see into this cabinet and am reminded every day of the shoddy work that was done. I initially thought about boxing in the pipe after this job was done. Now I MUST do it in order to cover up the eyesore. And I have to box in more space to cover up the incredibly large hole. On the outside, the vent was installed through the side of the house. The bottom of the vent hangs over the last clapboard by about an inch at a depth of at least an inch. This was filled with caulk. I've used caulk plenty of times and I've actually read the label on more than one occasion to know it is advised not to fill a gap that large. So now I have a sagging mess on the side of the house that I'll have to fix. Originally, one of the managers said that they would come back and box in the cabinet for me. However, in the meantime my survey returned to their office where I stated that I would be sharing my negative experience on the internet, so I was told they are no longer willing to do free work for me. My survey did strongly suggest that I would never use Zerodraft again so they knew they couldn't keep me as a customer. I guess I'd rather do it myself, when time permits since I am capable, than risk another shoddy job. Now onto the new windows. These were also being installed as new construction. I was home for the window install this time. I decided to go out and see the progress that was being made. I immediately had to ask where the weather proofing was. They told me they caulked the back of the nailing flange and there was nothing else on the truck. Remember, this is the year 2016 not 1978, weather proofing techniques in 2016 are a lot different than they were in 1978. In 2016 the goal is to seal out the water (as they did with the caulk) but to also make sure that if water does get in that it is directed back out the building so as not to damage the structure. This is in the building codes for many municipalities for good reason. This is not something I should have to ask for from a company that charges for top notch work and touts itself as being a leader. When I called the manager I was simply told that this is how he has been installing windows for 30 years. read more
