I booked Zest for my wedding which was Oct 2017. Let me just say that I was impressed with every aspect of the service from the very first conversation! Let me kick off the update by saying our wedding was the day before New Years Eve and it was clear that Zest had a packed schedule. Overall they did a good job with the food and execution but there were a few things that made me feel like I wasn't their top priority that weekend. I had changed the apps and reminded Dana two times in person and one was wrong the night of the wedding. In addition, our food was delicious but there were several details that were skipped over that I felt like I had made clear. 2 recipes that I had asked for were another version, thankfully I'm pretty low maintenance and everyone seemed to enjoy the food but I feel like the fact that I was so laid back was taken advantage of a bit. Again at the end of the day there were more important things afoot and it was obvious the mistakes weren't on purpose, but it definitely wasn't what I expected based on my previous meetings with Zest. Another minor thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the blog they wrote talking about their amazing last event of 2012...that was the day before my wedding. Mine certainly wasn't as expensive or fancy as the one they wrote about but it still made me feel like I wasn't anything close to a priority. Again I think the problem would be fixed if they focused a bit more on what kind of events they wanted to zero in on instead of taking every event they can. I absolutely adore Hannah and the Zest team. From the first time we sat down for a tasting I was not only floored by how amazing their food was, but my planning stress was put to ease because Hannah always had all the right answers. They made the most amazing fall menu for our end of September wedding. Our guests raved about the candied bacon at cocktail hour, their Cajun fried turkey is the best thing I've had in my life and I think I could eat their chicken quesadilla appetizer every day and feel happy. The team was so professional, the food spread looked gorgeous and the bar tenders executed our signature cocktail flawlessly. They even stopped serving drinks in glassware (started serving in plastic cups) when the dance floor opened to avoid shattered glass accidents. Hannah, Dana, and crew are as good as it gets... And then some. I reached out to Zest last year as they are an approved vendor at Cator Woolford Garden, where my husband and I were married last weekend. When I reached out over email, Hannah was quick to send a quote with pricing structures per person and per style (family, served, buffet), along with sample menus, costs for desserts, glassware and tablecloth rental options, etc. Hannah and Dana also invited my fiance and I to drop by another wedding Zest was setting up at CWG so we could check out the lay of the venue and how everything could be set up. From the start we knew that Zest was the only company that we'd like to cater our big day, to the extent that we didn't even feel the need to reach out to any other food vendors for quotes or have even a tasting (although Zest did offer to do one for us!). Hannah adjusted menu options and serving style to come in within the budget my dad had set aside for catering, and I really appreciated all of her tips and ideas that helped us stick to his budget and be respectful of my Dad's gift to us. Hannah was also super straight-forward about her experiences with some of my newbie ideas and gave me loads of honest advice that helped me avoid some troubles other brides had run into in their forays into DIY - from the perils of unlabeled tablecloths to forgotten cases of Mason Jar favors to our crazy idea (that she made happen) to have King of Pops as a dessert option instead of wedding cake. She tells it like it is and come your wedding weekend, you will be eternally grateful for her honesty and words of wisdom. And the food? Everyone raved. And raved. And raved. We kicked off the night with a charcuterie board at cocktail hour, and it was overflowing with meats, cheeses, and breads atop stacked wine boxes and greenery Zest had grabbed to fit in with our Provencal theme (Yep! They decorate their food arrangements based on your wedding theme and colors). The buffet was beautiful: A special salad packed with quinoa, berries, and avocado (which we requested after dying over it on a trip we took a month before the wedding - Hannah worked with us and made it happen for just a couple dollars more per guest!), Creole shrimp and grits, fried chicken, and the most phenomenal roasted root vegetables - parsnips, beets, brussel sprouts. The only thing people raved about more were the fabulous bartenders, who somehow remembered people's favorite drinks at a 150 person wedding. Hannah was patient, detailed, thoughtful, generous, and kept the train on the tracks at our crazy wedding. Her crew even sent us home with boxed meals, which we devoured the next day after being totally exhausted from all the wedding fun. We love Zest! read more

Dana at Zest is absolutely fabulous! We got married this past May and went to multiple caterers with our idea of laid-back BBQ and southern food. Many caterers came back to us with the most foofy versions of this menu (as lovely as Porcini Enscrusted Roasted Filet Mignon would be, it was a little over the top for what I wanted to feel like a backyard celebration), but Zest worked with us to create an AMAZING menu. The food was fancy, but not pretentious. Honestly they had my heart the second they suggested macaroni cupcakes (seriously....amazing). We had a tasting a couple of months before the wedding and everything was fabulous. We still decided to throw caution to the wind and request an appetizer that we didn't have the opportunity to try at the tasting (we were planning long distance so we couldn't do multiple tastings and did our somewhat last minute) -- the mini buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwiches. The little grilled cheeses turned out to be my favorite thing that we ate -- INCREDIBLE! They also set up 2 food bars (a biscuit bar and a mac and cheese bar) that everyone RAVED about. And in lieu of a groom's cake we opted to pay homage to the city that we met in (New Orleans) with a bananas foster bar! All of the food and desserts were amazing! The staff was also great. The bartenders and waiters were professional and looked put together. I didn't feel like I had to worry about anything the whole evening. And as we left our reception the planner pulled out two HUGE bags from the caterers with all of our leftover food (8 to-go boxes) which were HEAVENLY as a midnight snack and again the next morning (afternoon). Zest was so easy to work with! I worked mostly with Elizabeth and she was so nice and easy to talk to. Sometimes with vendors they can feel kind of distant and too stern but this was not the case. I felt like I could email her any time I had a question and she would get back to me so quickly. Payment was also a breeze and they were very transparent and detailed. Her and Dana ran the show at my reception and even when people decided to switch seats and get out of order, everyone was served pretty quickly. The food was great and I was full. I didn't see lines at our bars and everyone was up dancing so the bartenders must have done their job well! We had many compliments on how great our appetizers were! Best of all, when we got to our hotel our chauffeur handed us a bag and we didn't know what it was but to our surprise it was food! Appetizers and a meal for each of us! And it was all still so good! We used Zest for a reception that needed to be planned quickly, so we were not sure if our needs could be met. Not only did Zest meet our expectations, they exceeded them! The owner, Dana, was extremely responsive and flexible to customize the menu we wanted. I cannot say enough about Zest! I recently worked with the Zest team for our nonprofit fundraiser in Decatur, and they were incredible. I worked mostly with Hannah, and she was simply amazing. I booked Zest for my wedding... but ended up canceling the wedding. (We eloped instead!). The only issue is that I had already paid the deposit for my catering. Hannah worked with me to make sure I could use that towards another event-- it just so happened my sister was having a baby shower, so we were able to have all of the food catered by Zest. It almost didn't happen because Zest had a fully booked weekend already, but Hannah was nice enough to also prepare the food for me and have her delivery guy drop it off a day ahead of time (and I was a little difficult to work with at the time, so extra Kudos to her for making a customer happy!). And as a bonus-- nothing needed to be heated or prepared! Mushroom ravioli with Pesto Alfredo Sauce - wow Mac and Chees - never tasted better - a gourmet feast Shrimp and Grits - best in town - including the name places Beef tenderloin tip - perfect medium rare, juicy, tasty - superb! I hired Zest for my wedding on 2/28 and it was a fantastic party! The food was great, bartenders were fun and the event really came together without a hitch. They set up my table centerpieces and all the decor really well. They served my husband & I, which was a nice touch, while the guests went buffet-style. They also gave us a huge leftovers pack that included everything served which was awesome. The main reason why I chose Zest is because I felt comfortable with their organization at the tasting and knew they would take care of all the details without me worrying about it. They did and it was greatly appreciated. They were also very reasonably priced which helped out considerably with the budget. Dana changed the menu for me after our first formal meeting which was a great decision because the carving station was fantastic. I brought in the desserts which they had no problem with, and the bartending staff was really good & accommodating. The only critique I have is that I had to inquire if we were doing a final walk-through and get the final menu pretty close to the party date. I've never done this kind of planning before, so I felt a little in the dark as the date approached. I know they do this a lot and had no worries, but it was new to me and I just would have liked a little more leadership as it came together. Our wedding was a beautiful event, and we owe a big part of that to Zest Catering. We knew Zest was the right choice as soon as we met Dana and Hannah for a tasting. They were friendly, professional in all our communication, and the food was extraordinary. What we could not have foreseen was just how good of a choice they were. We had a somewhat unusual vision for our wedding and the food we wanted to serve--think of a cheese steak but somehow fancy enough to be called wedding food. Zest completely understood our vision. Dana and Hannah offered creative ideas as we worked together on the menu, which we quickly decided was perfect. We worked closely with Dana in particular as the wedding day approached. He took care in every detail. At the walkthrough he was on top of all the planning and logistics. He matched table colors to our wedding scheme, arranged bars in the best locations, and handled requests for guests with some pretty strict diet restrictions. If we e-mailed any questions, Dana offered prompt, helpful responses. The wedding day itself was perfect. The bartenders were great. The food was exceptional. Everything was on schedule. We had a lemonade cocktail table to welcome guests as they entered, and Dana made it gorgeous, with bundles of tied lavender surrounding a wooden décor. I barely even know what to say. Zest scored a perfect %100. It's worth noting that neither of us ever had any doubt that the food or catering at our wedding would be anything but spectacular, and it was. With all the planning that goes into a wedding, having a vendor in whom you can place that kind of confidence is a blessing. What else can I say about Dana, Hannah, and the whole crew at Zest? From working with us in the planning stages to bringing everything together the day of the wedding, Hannah put in a full 110%. We had roasted pear and goat cheese salad, beef tenderloin, chicken florentine, asparagus, and roasted root vegetables. We received so many compliments from our guests on how good the food was. Zest was amazing throughout the wedding planning process. When we first met with Dana and Hannah they were so warm and welcoming. My husband and I told them we wanted food with a southern twist. They brought out fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, biscuits, peaches salad, and tons of other delicious foods. They were so easy throughout this process. We signed the contract that day and they specified that day that if our taste or decisions changed to just let them know and they would work with us.
