They called and went to get pet. Spoke with me vaguely about what was going on, gave me meds for pet, although they were not sure, they said it would be fine. The BILL WAS OVER $800! I gave them the $300 I had and said they would have to wait for the rest. $200 to $820?! Got home and went over the bill with my hubby. Next day went back to discuss some big ? on bill as it was like someone had just added extras in that did not pertain especially since I had turned down the really expensive test but was still billed for it?! When I got there they said it would be a minute so I sat down. A woman came in to get her pet who had just been given a rabies shot. They quoted her $85-95 and the bill was almost double that. She explained she did not have money to pay anymore than $100 that day. They would not let her leave with her pet. She was calling friends, family, etc who were working. They had no empathy whatsoever. I told her they did the same to me the day before and gave her the rest of the money so she could go home with her pet. She owed them less than I but was a POC. I then spoke with the office manager instead of the girl at the reception area. Turned out that they had given me a quote that included all options and not my bill. My bill was STILL DOUBLED but had already decided to go elsewhere as 2 strangers in office with doubled bill amounts?! So I paid off my bill and left. Had I not questioned my bill iI would have paid $400 extra for services NOT rendered. And now my pet LOATHES the vets office. It seems like he was traumatized somehow. Anyway, just be careful you are not overcharged, plan on paying double their quote, and stay with your pet. Think they know they are only vet in town so are bill bullys?! Do not recommend!

During the two fumbled attempts to find a vein by the tech, my cat hissed ( something she's never done in more than 10 years of companionship.) Fiona also physically resisted the procedure. I insisted on more sedation and a new technician to set the IV for infusion. A second relaxant injection and a new technician allowed my cat a comfortable journey from this world to the next. A very sad decision tree gave my dear pet a traumatic end of life experience. I am ridden with guilt for having put my cat and me in the Animal Kingdom Clinic's hands.

They like to upsell you on treatments that may not be in your pets best interest and when they're called out on it they become argumentative and defensive. Horribly overpriced for the services they offer. I have had my dog seen by many vets in different states in our travels and I can say unequivocally that Animal Kingdom is the most expensive veterinary clinic we have ever been to, which is saying alot considering she has been seen in Florida, a notoriously expensive state for everything. If you need to find good, caring and AFFORDABLE pet care I would suggest looking elsewhere. These people only care about one thing. Making money.

I brought him in for digestive issues and Dr. Hayes seems to have a magic touch because my cat was pretty calm and stayed on the exam table, whereas he hides at other clinics. Part of this is due to the dog-free, quiet environment, I'm sure. One thing I truly appreciate about the Cat Clinic compared to a couple of the other well known clinics in town is that Dr. Hayes doesn't pressure me to spend a lot of money or throw surprise upcharges at me for no reason. Don't get me wrong, I would go into serious debt for my cats, but would rather not if I don't have to! For example, when my other cat was vomiting, I took him to another Iowa City clinic and, without explaining the costs or purpose, they ran $600 in tests. My cat was actually better the next morning with ZERO treatment. By contrast, Dr Hayes started with simple steps to rule out food allergies and a couple other holistic causes instead of performing every imaginable test. He also talked through a few possibilities to consider. He also recently performed surgery on another cat I look after and it was very easy and affordable and the elderly kitty did great. He's very kind and straightforward and his office is great at following up to see how the patient is doing.

I debated if I should even write this review-- but when a local business goes above and beyond, it…read moreshould be known. (I also am selfishly hoping writing this will help me process.) My family lost a beloved member this week and as I write this I feel numb. It still feels so surreal. Who knew real life even happened during a pandemic? Arlo Guy loved his kids from the moment he laid eyes on them. He loved his family and every single dog he ever met. My dapper looking mutt adored hot dogs and stealing things off the counter. He lived for a car rides and belly rubs. And as I sit here remembering, I can't help but ugly cry. Being a rescue with a not-so amazing beginning to life, he had a lot of anxiety and mistrust. His anxiety started to worsen over the past year and aggressiveness came along with it. We tried our best to manage it, we even tried to 'fix it' with very involved behavior training but it was always one step forward, four steps back. Ultimately, with two human kids in the crossfire, it just couldn't continue. Pet Health Center of Tiffin was a shoulder to cry on. They were a phone call to talk to, as we decided the next steps for Arlo. Dr. Lenane made me feel seen and Arlo understood. And on one of the worst days of my life, they made the process almost bearable. The staff is caring, empathetic and knowledgeable. The facilities are outstanding. It makes my heart happy Arlo spent his last minutes snuggled with me on a comfy couch, listening to a calming water feature. Losing a pet is hard. So, so damn hard. But the staff at Pet Health Center of Tiffin helped as best they could. Thank you.

Dr. Sullivan even called emergency vets to make sure they were updated by the time we got there to avoid wasting any of the precious time we had. She called me on the way to the emergency vet to make sure I was also updated and knew what was going on. After she found out Wrigley crossed the rainbow bridge she called me to talk through losing her. It helped so much to talk about everything that happened, and then a few days later we received a very heartfelt card from Dr. Sullivan and the two vet techs that were with Wrigley at her last appointment with them. We later took our other dog to the North Liberty location (because Eastside didn't have any openings and we needed to go ASAP) to get her Lepto vaccine because we suspected lepto was what took Wrigley. The NL location is just as accommodating, and just as amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend either location!

By this summer we had been taking our pets to Eastside Pet Clinic for over 13 years. Like most…read morecats, ours hates to be in a carrier and to leave the house. She's terrified of the carrier, so we spend a couple weeks before a vet appointment putting treats in it so we don't have to force her in when the time comes. She was due for her shots, but had also been having vomiting issues, as well as what seemed to be other digestive issues. We showed up on time with the stool sample they had requested. Our usual vet was on vacation, so one of the owners was our vet that day. From the start she was short, disinterested in our questions, and seemed to want to rush through the visit. And that's exactly what happened. She wouldn't take the stool sample (which, as stated had been requested), she was dismissive of our questions, and never even looked our cat's backside, or checked into anything related to our primary reasons for being there. She administered the usual shots, and sent us on our way with nothing more than the usual recommendations for the sensitive stomach prescription cat food they sell at the store, even after we had reminded them had not worked. When our usual vet returned from vacation we called and asked her email so that we could explain our disappointments regarding the previous visit. We sent off an email, and two weeks later, had not heard back. I called to make sure the email had come through, and the assistant answering the phone confirmed that it had, but that our vet was particularly bad about answering emails. She said she'd try to get her to respond. This was the beginning of what turned out to be a bizarre and wholly unprofessional cycle of labored communication. We sent another email, called again and were told the same- "she's bad with email, but we'll try to get her to respond." Over the course of 4 months, between many calls and email check ins, we received no phone calls, got two emails, the first with a one sentence apology for the disappointing service but no explanation, followed by a long list of info and questions. The second (after weeks of waiting and check ins) just another list of questions, which we responded to again, but then never heard back. To this day...two months later. No resolution, no final suggestions or plan, just a totally botched visit, two lists of questions and a pile of unanswered emails and calls. In the end one of the employees apologized, volunteering that the whole thing was bizarre and unprofessional, and vowing to get the acting head of the franchise to email or call us. But that too never happened. We called one last time to make sure that this administrator had gotten our correct info, and this time the same employee told us that if it were her, she'd just go to a different clinic. So...after 13 years we're looking for a new vet, and felt obligated to let any pet owners know before hauling your little one into East Side Pet Clinic that you may want to adjust your expectations.
