Whenever I'm in the spot for local food, I always stop at Zippy's. When I'm really hungry, I dine in since I can't wait till I get home to eat! The inside of the dine in area here is nice and the staff is always so kind and friendly! I ordered the spaghetti with garlic bread which is always amazing! My boyfriend decided to try something different which was the korean fried chicken meal. We both really enjoyed it! It was crispy yet juicy! Service! I love coming to this location right outside of downtown/Chinatown Honolulu because of this drive through lol. If you've had a long night or an early start this is the best to order online, grab n go But today was just the best. I showed up 30mins before my pick up time (I know my bad) but the attendant at the window was so on it she went looking for it before I could tell her I was early again my bad! She said they just put it in and I believed her. She asked me to park and she would bring it out to me (I definitely didn't need her to do that! Lol I already had it in my mind to wait) but I listened to her because she was on it! I went to park but there was a car in the stall she said so I parked where I could see her. I ordered a mobile order, and this location didnt have one of the items, which is fine, not their fault. But the staff handled the situation poorly. They called me, but I couldn't pick up because I was driving. When I got there, they told me in an angry tone that they canceled the entire order because I didn't answer the phone. If they would have waited 2 minutes for me to arrive, I would have told them it's fine that they didn't have the item. So I went back in line and when I got to the register, I asked if they were able to pull up my same order from before, and the staff member rolled her eyes at me. I used to work in food service, so I understand that some days are very stressful, especially when customers are unruly. But that's no excuse to be rude. Very poor service. read more

Zippy's Food is always the best and never disappoints me. Service is ok sometimes. I just didn't like the way the cashier talked to me. Needs work on herself as a person. The place is ok. Just gotta watch out for the birds bcoz they tend to come in and walk under your table. And also hope that a homeless isn't there or maybe a few construction workers bcoz I remember we decided to eat at the table, it was a lil windy and a stench of a homeless person or maybe the B.O. of a construction worker just came grazing to our noses. Lately I have been ordering/picking up from this Zippy's exclusively because they pump out the food the quickest IMHO! I have had a couple of bad experiences at other Zippy's locations recently (very long wait times for my order to be ready, even though I placed it by phone order well ahead of time), and I almost lost hope in Zippys, until I started coming to Zippy's Vineyard for take-out (phone order, drive-thru), and so far I have had the best experience (knock on wood)!! First of all, I love Zippy's. Came here on a Tuesday to satisfy my cravings and it didn't disappoint! Got the korean fried chicken- super moist and flavorful, and the mac salad was solid. The saimin broth was nice and hearty, and both portions were decent. Our waitress was somewhat rude, which is why i'm taking off a star. Went to Zippy's on Vineyard Blvd and they were pretty busy and I guess they were short staffed like most of the restaurants. After awhile we got seated and they now give paper menus either due to Covid, but the regular menu are not given, which is ok. I had the sweet sour spareribs with rice and tossed salad it was tasty, but the sweet sour sauce was pretty thick. My wife had the meat loaf and she really didn't like it said it was like a t.v dinner type hamburger and the gray was too salty and didn't have taste except for the saltiness. Then the waitress said that you can only use 1 gift card? We had 3 gift cards so she used one for $10.00 and said we had to pay the rest by cash or charge? I will not give Zippy's gift cards to friends if this is correct because they have to go to Zippy's 3 times to use their gift card, that is pretty crazy! I can understand if the gift cards is over the charges you will not get cash back. If you are giving gift cards need to check the restrictions they put on their cards. read more

I personally love vineyard Zippys, has a family atmosphere, of course the famous Zippys foods. But what really separates them from its other chain of restaurants is that you can have a family meeting for a long period of time and no one bothers you! That's why I personally give it a 4 star rating. It's got history on me, got a lot of awesome memories they allowed me to have with friends and family. I would also like to add, it's one of the cleaner Zippys I've been to being in Chinatown. That's being said, I can break down some of the flaws I can see why people wouldn't want to go or rate them high score. The location, Chinatown is the best know spots due to homeless, druggies, so on and so forth. But for an establishment in this location to keep everything nice and updated speaks volumes. Another flaw is night time, sometimes if you're into the chicken plates. Ask them prior for a fresh batch. Night time can be hard when ordering chicken. It's not as fresh as the mid afternoon batch. Speaking from personal experience. Parking can be a pain as well if the other parking lot is not open like it is on the weekends. But then again I feel this Zippys is worth the wait if you're doing family dinners. All around I recommend this Zippys above most, dining in wise. But the food is awesome, it's something I grew up on and will continue to go. read more

Parking's decent in which you can either park alongside or in front of the building or in the parking lot. Restroom's okay, wished it was cleaner. While visiting Zippy's found out for a limited-time thru 12/31st Zippys is offering their Maui for Kokua Pac lunch plate. The Pac comes with a slice of spam, a red hot dog, portuguese sausage, and korean chicken on a bed of rice. Also got their soup of the day: clam chowder. Friendly service throughout lunch. read more

Kimmy the manager [sp?] noted that she will provide more training on the cashiers who are high-school, and college aged. One of the cashiers allowed a 3rd customer, who arrived about 5 minutes after me, to cut in front of me. I even told the 3rd customer that I already was in line, and yet he still ordered. (There's more to this, i.e. snickering behind the counter as the 3rd customer raised his voice against me, so I defended myself). I'm leaving an average rating because Yelp won't allow me to delete my 1-star rating, so I'm editing it to 3 stars since the manager listened to my complaint, and promised to take action. We just sat down, getting situated, not even looking at the menu yet and she's asking for our order. 3 times in 10 minutes. She didn't come to check on us during the meal, and brought us the check before we could order dessert. From Zip Pacs and Apple Napples to Fried Chicken, plate lunches, and Chili and rice, the food is consistent and efficient. We also get dobash and Chantilly cakes from the bakery. Zippy's reminds me of college days - when my friends and I pulled all-nighters. We crammed for those midterms and finals like crazy! The food at Zippy's was my incentive to study - LOL! Ahhh... Main thing is that we all passed out exams! Haha! This particular location of Zippy's is on the corner of Vineyard Boulevard and Maunakea Street. Sometimes, there are "colorful characters" here. Picked up some breakfast. An on-line order was made and I was happy to say that we arrived a little early to pick it up and it was ready. That was great! I drove up to the pick-up window and the employee who was helping me was nice and helpful. She helped me to place all of the utensils in a separate bag as they were originally placed in with the bentos. The #2 breakfast bento was ordered and it was yummy. It consists of 3 pieces of portuguese sausage, 1 piece of spam, and scrambled eggs over white rice. It was a good amount of food and not too big. You can also have a choice of brown rice if you prefer it. The order and pick up process went great! Zippys was okay. A lot of hype on this place when i visited hawaii. It was just okay in my opinion but they do have a lot of options and are open late. I got a teriyaki beef and fish plate. The beef was solid although a little chewy, the fish was definitely off a bit. Service was cool tho they were nice but it did take a awhile for the food to come out. This was my first time at Zippy's Vineyard. I was surprised to see a DRIVE-THRU pick-up window at Zippy's; it was my first time seeing one. I was just telling someone the other day, 'I wish Zippy's had a drive-thru'--for chili and quick stuff, it would be great! As a mother with 3 young kids, I love anything curbside/drive-through pick-up. The ambiance was good; it's an older location, and it was clean. I was pleased with the service; the cashier was friendly. Considering it was the lunch rush, the food came out quickly. WE ATE: The kids always get chili and rice with onions and cheese--that's a classic favorite! I was going to get the chili-chicken plate, but I noticed the Kalo Luau Stew, so I got that! It wasn't bad or anything, BUT I should have stuck to the classic chili-chicken plate. And of course, we had to get an APPLE NAPPLE! Today is that special for Mother's Day, Parmesan Crusted Mahi Mahi with lemon caper sauce, garnished with lots of capers and tomatoes on top of a bed of pasta. Tomatoes added a slight acidity...not too pronounced, but balances the dish. It comes with two slices of garlic bread...so good! Mahi Mahi is coated in Parmesan coating and grilled with a crispy like texture. As you eat that with your lemon caper pasta sends your palate into a merriment of joy with all those distinct flavors. However, my friend's fish was larger than mine. Mine barely cover the middle of pasta and very noticeable. They need to be consistent in that area and don't skimp to sell more or running out. You run out...that's it. Customers will learn to come early. During Valentines, dish was $14.99....by Mother's Day, $18.99. We better get the correct size for that big jump in price. Some servers are unaware of the special and need to be reminded. Usually it's two day special during Valentines and Mother's Day! It is the best dish Zippy's has created...like their miso salmon. Also, some servers forget to come back and check rather you need condiments like pepper, refill on drinks, and take out boxes which are basic services. When I have to get up three times to look for you and ask another server don't complain about $1 tips. You get what you put out. When you come during or near brunch time, ask for skinny young oriental woman, male servers, and/or Penny who are excellent and awesome individuals. Located off Vineyard Bl. Back in the day Zippy's was my go to for everything. Times have definitely changed I remember when all Zippy's were out door seating order at the window get your order find or go to your saved table. Now a lot of Zippy's including this one is like a restaurant indoor seating AC and server person taking and bringing your order. The menu has definitely expanded from just the board above the register. They still serve the local favorites from back in the day. I got the Zip pac mini cause the regular Zip pac would be too much since I ate before coming here. Every year, my dad and I would usually eat at a Zippy's diner for Thanksgiving. The Zippy's at this location was pretty busy where we had to wait around 30 minutes for a table. Once we were seated, we ordered the Garlic Rib Steak and Roast Turkey & Baked Ham Combo. Garlic rib steak: I ordered the steak medium. It was alright. It taste good with the A1 steak sauce on the side. I enjoyed the grilled onions with the steak. Turkey & baked ham combo: This was exclusive to pre-Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving days. The roast turkey was also alright. The sauce on the baked ham was sweet. The stuffings under the turkey was pretty bland. This also comes with a side of cranberry sauce. Overall, it was a good meal with my dad. The dishes were just alright but they were still enjoyable. The service was great. I know this isn't the fanciest or most mind-blowing dish, but it is delicious. I typically order the large bean-less chili on rice. That's enough for one hungry person's lunch. The chili is wholesome, warm, and comforting. Bf did order the Chinese style steamed sea bass which wasn't as good as when we had it at a different location. The zip pac dlx and the breaded Mahi sandwich were super good. Everything tasted fresh. Sometimes the Teri beef is dry but this one was good. Service while dining in can be slower than normal. To me, Zippy's is like the Denny's of Hawai'i so it's not my first choice restaurant. The service was good. I went to the zippys in nuuanu because my friends wanted to go there. I hate nuuanu zippys now. It's complete garbage. I waited for half an hour to get my plate and then I realized they messed up my dessert order because I ordered the LAST 4 CHEESECAKE SQUARES.
