This was my second visit to a Ziizi's restaurant, the first being in central London. And on both occasions the food was poor.
So, lets start with the interior. Zizzi's looks nice, its very smart (without being 'posh') and confortable. If your booking a tabloe, ask to be seated on the second floor, nearer to the back where the open fire oven is.
Service was ok. They did their job well enough.
The food however was poor, and at their prices I felt hard done by.
For starters we had the
- calmari, over cooked to the point where it was chewy
- Mussels, over cooked, the texture was like cheese
- Garlic bread, umm wheres the garlic?
- Dough Sticks, again totaly flavourless.
Overall the startes might as well have been from the local supermarket, completely tastless and over cooked.
Main
- 4 x Calzone (all different)
- 2 x Pasts (both different)
The mains were even worse. The Calzone was a giant piece of dough stuck to the plate with a giant ball of mozarella in the middle. The flavor was missing, I cut away the edge and top of mine so all IU should have had left was the tasty middle with Calzone base, it was still tasteless. The pasta lacked any flavor at all, Dolmio would have had more flavor.
So, 6 of us ate, we had 3 bottles of their 660m Amstel, and a couple of soft drinks. The final bill was £103. Should have gone to Sainsbury's. read more
