Before we started she asked for exactly what I wanted - I had sent her two pictures that she explained were a little bit different from each other and made sure to understand which color I wanted since I had never had color done to my hair. I came to Zoey a little hesitant because my hair does not take bleach well. I showed her some pictures from Pinterest of the color hair I wanted and she matched it exactly! She tried really hard to make sure she understood the color I wanted and I love my hair now! It took two rounds of bleach but my hair is still just as healthy and soft feeling as it was initially thanks to the Olaplex used in every step. The color is starting to fade three weeks later (which is typical) but I still get people commenting on it every day! She even fed me cookies while I was there because I was not able to eat lunch. I'm extremely picky when it comes to anything related to beauty and fashion. I've been spoilt getting my hair cuts from Kim Robinson (he does Nicole Kidman and many celebs) for over 8years & I can sincerely say that Zoey did a good job with coloring. The place was clean and spacious. I love how clean and bright the place looks. Not to mention, they are just 2 doors away from a nice Korean restaurant so it was easy to grab lunch during the long process. Any improvements they could work on? I'm not sure if it's just an American thing, but perhaps Zoey could have also suggested on what's suitable for her clients. Best hair salon I've ever visited!! I came in with brassy hair (first pic obviously lol) and 2nd/3rd pic is Zoey's beautiful work! Zoey has amazing talent for hair and makes sure every strand is treated with care. She briefly gives you a step by step explanation of what she's going to do and how she's going to achieve the hair you want. She gave me the exact color I wanted compared to all the other salons I've went to. After toning my hair, wash, and blow dried she noticed my hair had a little green hue to it. I didn't noticed it until she pointed it out. Zoey ended up toning my hair again and I personally want to point out that it showed me she really does care about her customer's hair despite it taking up more of her time. Truly appreciated! Zoey is extremely detail-oriented and gives great advice on coloring your hair. She really knows what she's doing. She trained in China and did additional training here. I deliberately seek out salons and hairstylists who specialize in Asian hair. She gave me a fabulous haircut first (and did it so quickly but also nicely!). She was honest about how much potential bleaching would be needed for certain colors. During the balayage she painstakingly but efficiently teased out certain strands, etc. She uses Olaplex. To start with, my virgin hair is already super soft, overall very healthy, and type 1A hair so it's kind of cheating but she uses the good stuff. And hooray for the Dyson hairdryer! At the end, my hair was just as soft (if not even softer) than my hair pre-balayage. AND it smelled like ROSES! The new salon is beautiful. They also offer you water if you need it. Bright, clean, spacious. She shares it with Kyle Chang. You absolutely should make an appointment. You absolutely need to wear a mask (and not just to enter the salon - it's the right thing to do). I totally get why balayage costs $$$ - Zoey puts in a ton of effort and care. The whole process took only 3.5 hours but I imagine for many others it takes much longer. I've been following Zoey for a while on Instagram, and now I think I've finally found my colorist. Zoey is so sweet. She listens and really cares about her clients. She tells you to truth about getting certain colors. I love that she tells you how to take care of your hair and how to keep it from fading too quickly. She's very professional and meticulous. I normally get my done in NYC at Hayato Salon but due to COVID, I have been quarantining. I prefer the salon I was using, reasons being that my hair ended up being uneven from the cut and as it is growing. Like I get it's COVID but when you don't end up washing your clients hair, the cut and the growth ends up uneven. Like I have strands that are completely uneven. This is my third time going to Zoey and as usual, she doesn't disappoint! I would highly recommend anyone wanting a balayage to go to her. She is so sweet and I love that she is so gentle when she does your hair. She explained to me in the beginning what she planned to do and gave me recommendations for what she thought would look best. I made an appointment for an ashy brown balayage on a Thursday morning and it took about 3 hours. I looked through Zoey's Instagram to look through examples of her work and to find one I liked. I showed her some pictures and explained what I did and didn't want. Zoey was very attentive and really took the time to understand what I was looking for. She was very sweet and was able to achieve the color I wanted. She used one round of bleach (I believe with Olaplex) but my hair felt and still feels SO soft and healthy. My hair was a little uneven from an old haircut, and Zoey offered just to trim the bottom to make it symmetrical free of charge! She was also available afterwards via text for me to ask questions about maintenance and recommendations for products which I really appreciated. Zoey is definitely very talented in what she does -- her price definitely reflects her quality of work! I also find that it is important that a hair colorist/stylist understand the nuances of Asian hair, so I definitely recommend her to my Asian friends looking to color their hair! I haven't strayed out of dyeing my dark brown hair in a long time, but I decided I wanted to take the leap and dye my hair silver. I saw Zoey's work on Instagram (@zoeyho_hair), and thought she had the experience to get my hair right. She responded quickly and I was able to set up an appointment. Even after 3 passes to get my dark hair to blond, and then dyed silver, my hair was still soft and generally healthy (she uses Olaplex to lighten). I've had so many friends who dyed their hair blond and it was basically fried - mine still looks and feels great. It was a long day (if you're thinking of a drastic hair color change, make sure you bring a few books/movies since it'll take all day) but Zoey was always very patient, attentive, and kind, and took the time to make sure she understood what I was looking for. This is the first time I did something "crazy" with my hair and I'm so glad I went to Zoey. She was the most patient person to have doing my hair. I had a bit past the shoulder hair, super thick, and dyed black with fading which was a big regret. It took a long time but the result was totally worth it and I would for sure go back for when I would want something different or a touch up. Before finding Zoey, I had never had my hair professionally dyed because I didn't trust anyone doing my hair. I have researched her and saw her work and it is one that i was really impressed.
