Slow service due to it being run by one person, but the crepes we ordered were quite good and the server was friendly and helpful.

Very good gelato, generous proportions. We tried both gelato places in Evora, this one is definitely better.

After wandering the streets of Alfama in Lisbon on a hot July day, we were looking for some…read morerefreshment - specifically ICE CREAM. We didn't want just the novelty stuff on a stick, either. No, we wanted real ice cream, the kind someone dishes into a cone or cup for you. AHHHH!!! We came around a corner and saw a plush ice cream cone hanging out front of this little shop, so we ventured inside. Talk about kismet! Not only was there ice cream, but sorbet, too. I opted for a cup of hazelnut and dark chocolate paired together. My wife got the same dark chocolate, but with a nice coconut. The place was empty, save for the very nice young woman who served us, but soon it was full. Maybe we started a trend, maybe some passersby saw us and thought they might like some ice cream, too, I don't know. But, here's the other side of the coin, and it's not a downside. The shop has much more than just ice cream. Did you notice the "sardinha" in the name? There are many tins of sardines available for purchase, too. And tea. And wine. And olive oil. And olive paste. And flavored vinegars. And Sal de mer. This little shop, and it is not a very big space, although there was just enough space for the four of us to sit and enjoy our ice cream and the light breeze coming off the water just across the street, has a lot of stuff in it. We found that elusive present for one of our neighbors right in this shop - in fact two presents! The prices are good, the place is spotless, the young woman who served us was pleasant and helpful - this was a gem in an already great city!

We have been in Portugal for two weeks, and this is the best dinner we've had. So fresh and…read morecreative, we had the opportunity to speak with three of their produce suppliers as they dropped off ingredients that evening. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, the owner/chef is opinionated about how he prepares items, but the food and tastes were so, so very good. We started out sharing a large strawberry/apple salad that was exquisite, and I'm not a huge fan of salads. Next, I insisted that we try the mushrooms with balsamic and chocolate. Incredible! For our mains, my wife enjoyed a thin slice of steamed salmon steak, while I had a thin filet of sea bass poached in Champagne. The serving sizes were small, but the accompanying veggie tray was incredible. It had been challenging to get fresh veggies at dinner, and here we ate more and a wider variety than we had eaten since we arrived. Lots of herbs, with very little salt, which is how we prefer our food. Alentejo wines by the glass were lovely (though I prefer Douro and Dão reds myself). We had a lovely meal in an intimate setting (we put on a Sinatra LP). Definitely a treat dinner.

Quadruple WOW. This was truly a gourmet experience including curried vegetables, curried Salmon,…read morelamb, and a special black pork duet. Everything was excellent. We enjoyed Jorge, the owner, but we understand he could be over the top for some. For us he was an added benefit. The wines were very good, and mine was the first red on this trip that wasn't too hot. Kudos to our delightful server, too. She explained the creative parts of our meals very well and was professionally attentive all evening. Heads up: this is not inexpensive mass-produced Portuguese food. It's pricey if you have all the courses and wine.
