The salmon bagel tasted very burnt and smelled off. The onions looked black (pictured) and possibly spoiled. I politely raised my concern, but the situation was handled very poorly. There was no attempt to resolve the issue -- no offer to remake/ replace it, or provide a refund. Instead, I was met with rude behavior and weird looks that made me feel uncomfortable for even bringing it up, like it was somehow my fault their food tasted bad. Very disappointing experience and definitely not worth the price.

While traveling through Auburn with my strictly vegan friend, I searched Yelp for lunch options that would work for both of us and Zola's seemed like a good fit. She selected the Zola Bowl, which was flavorful and satisfying. I chose the Roasted Veggie Panini, which had creamy cheese, sweet roasted vegetables, and crunchy, delicious bread. We liked the food so much that we stopped there the second day and ordered the exact same items. It's a small cafe with local art and some local jewelry for sale as well. There are a few outdoor seats, which were great for a beautiful, sunny day. Order at the counter and the food will be brought out to you. It's a casual cafe where you bus your own table. I highly recommend it.

I wanted a light lunch so I decided to stop by here because I pass by it all the time. I ordered the chicken panini. The food was so bland, sauce on the side would not have helped this meal. The salad wasn't even good to me. SMH heard the coffee was good but I will not be returning. Even the service was awkward. I was not get greeted at all she was just looking at me. I will not be coming back!

I've been going to Zola's cafe for almost 6 years now. Their coffee has always been on point, and the baked goods are just awesome. I never thought to post a review until now. The current owner, Matt, introduced some changes. I only recently discovered that Matt makes some of the best soup you can get in Auburn. Or anywhere really. There's always great artwork on the walls, and fine tunes on the wire. But during these cold months, let me tell you - a bowl of any soup that Matt makes is going to warm your bones and feed your soul. They have nice salads too. Grab your bestie and make it a date.

The previous reviews put it as a top contender for breakfast as we were passing thru town. First, I would call this a coffee shop with food and not a 'cafe'. Like any other coffee shop, step up to the counter, order, sit and wait for your name to be called. But unlike other shops the food isn't premade processed food that get reheated to order. The egg and hashbrown burrito I got was pretty good. I have never had a burrito made on a panini press and I can say it's a great way to do it! The flavor was good even though the potatoes had a little burned flavor. I did not like the salsa, it tasted like Pace from a jar.

Visited on a Sunday for brunch time with a couple of friends and we spent about 2 hours here. They did not kick us out and let us enjoy our time here. When you arrive, you can sit wherever you like and their menus are available right at the front of the register. After you order, they will deliver your food and/or drink to you. Inside was spacious, with some outdoor seating. They even have a couch by the fireplace if youre just there to hangout and enjoy your coffee. For coffee, I ordered a latte. Creamy with a good taste of espresso. For food, I ordered a Eggplant Panini and although it look small, it was actually very filling. Could only eat half and took the rest home. I have to say to this day, I am still craving that sandwich. Their foccacia bread is so unique and tasted so well with the sandwich, I need to go back when I have time to. It was that good. My friends also ordered a panini and have finished theirs. Also noted that they loved theirs as well. Sadly, I did not write the names of them down. Overall, I definitely recommend. A good place to sit down, enjoy a cup of coffee and/od catch up with friends.

This was a great spot to grab a light lunch and some coffee! The hubs and I were driving through the area and needed lunch and coffee and this hit those requirements. My husband ordered make your own sandwich and got it with turkey, mayo, tomato, pickle on focaccia and he loved it! I had a bite and it was good! The side salad and ranch was also delicious. He had an iced latte too which was delicious. I had a minestrone soup and it was so yummy as well as the caramel coffee. Service was quick and efficient, as well as friendly. They have tables inside and outside as well as a couch and comfortable chair area to sit. They have other foods such as pastries, breakfast items and sweets and lots more coffee drinks.

This place is great! Its a good place to come and hang out with friends or your partner. They have great coffee and really good food! Today i tried their new menu and got the French dip with Braised Portabella Mushrooms and it was so delicious! You can taste the horseradish spread that they use, and it pairs well with the flavors of the sandwich, especially when you dip it in the broth it comes with.

A nice find. We went to another close by place and they close early. So we headed over here. We were greeted and made to feel welcome. Maybe it was the fact that we were here on the last day of vacation after having to pack up, fit about 8-10 suit cases/duffel bags and 4 people into a Prius, and were looking toward a day that would include 7 hours in the airport. BUT it was the best coffee I've ever had in a coffee shop. At home I generally stick with french press coffee that is ground with my burr grinder. I usually stick with just black coffee and (unless it is time for a bit of decaf and Irish cream). But if I am going to have an espresso based drink, I would want to have it from here again. Just a shame that you guys are 20 hours from where I live! read more

I was looking for good coffee and a quick bite, I was l about to head into Seattle when I stumbled upon Zola's. Immediately when I walked in I loved the atmosphere. It was relaxing and has so much character. I had the Hashbrown breakfast sandwich which was exactly what I needed. Coffee was really good as well. Went to this cute cafe Saturday and was pretty impressed. Has the chocolate muffin and a regular coffee. The only thing missing was half and half for my coffee, and I should have asked for it - I'm sure they have it! Lots of local art for sale, and great ambiance, even in the middle of the day. Zola's is the best! I'd give them 10 stars if I could! They serve a variety of beverages and have a specialized selection of food items that are delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming--combined with friendly service that makes you feel comfortable immediately. They also support our community - by sponsoring and supporting various artistic venues. Friday nights you can find live, local music groups ranging from established ensembles to high school groups. You will find artwork by local artists displayed on the walls. And they are family friendly as well! Best independent coffee shop in Auburn! read more

Good coffee and tea, cookies and sweets are awesome too. Panini sandwiches(really like the bread on them) and chicken pot pies(especially good) are my favorite food, well soup is actually really good too. Pizza is too bready on my taste but I know people who love Zola's pizza with special kind of love. read more

The cake is fab and the bakery items The sandwich is sort of bland tasting and a little $$ the cafe is cozy by itself tho. Worst cafe I've been to in a long time. My sandwich was cold and undercooked, it was also missing add-on's I paid for. The sandwich was also so bland I could only take two bites of it, and threw the rest away. They also didn't give me my muffin I paid for. The gentleman working and rude and made me feel rushed. I did not enjoy my experience at all and I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Super cozy place that greets you with a smile. I've only been here twice, but each time I go I try something new. The white chocolate coffee is better than other places that I've been to. Also if you want to try a great grilled sandwich this is the place, but make sure you try it with the house special bread they make there. I think it's called focaccia and its rather good. The ambiance of this place is what you expect a cafe/coffee place to be. The art the have on the wall is nice and to sum it all up I highly recommend this gem, you won't be disappointed. read more

A cute little coffee shop in the small downtown area of Auburn. Good coffee and yummy breakfast items hot off the panini press. Their dark chocolate mocha was my favorite. Two shots of espresso in a 12 oz mocha is the perfect balance and a great pick-me-up. The staff was friendly enough. Not my all time favorite coffee shop, but a solid 4 stars for sure! read more

The easiest five stars I've ever given. I want my house to feel like this place does. Lots of light, a variety of seating, amazing smells and happy customers (and staff). The English Breakfast tea was served properly, and tasted awesome. The chicken pesto sandwich was life-changing. Now I just need to find an excuse to drive to Auburn from Seattle once a week. read more

First time here. At first, started to get concerned about the area...just not familiar. Then noticed it's across the police station. There is outdoor seating with a few cute bistro style tables. They have vegetarian and vegan items, as well. I had the eggplant pannini with the iced cinnamon roll latte with almond milk. Both very delicious. The ladies that works there were very nice, as well. I like the interior, what they serve, and the food was good. But I don't think it's really a child-friendly establishment. We weren't there long and there we no other customers in at the time but they seemed very annoyed by my son eating the yogurt and milk we bought him to eat. the one bad thing he did was get yogurt on the table and glass door which I promptly cleaned up and offered to use any spray cleaner to make the door look even more perfect again. They declined but we really felt unwelcome. It's by the courthouse so I assume it's mostly adults. In that case, it is a good place. read more

Enjoy an informal relaxed atmosphere with a full menu and creative drink menu, not to mention home cooked food? Oh, and you may be searching for music and/or vegetarian and/or gluten free? Look no more. Stop here. Try the Thai Cold Brew and the Falafel salad, or enjoy the artichoke dip - this is NOT the artichoke dip from Costco. Great place! Friendly staff and hands on owners. Customer service is obviously its standard. And I think 'customer service' flows to its hand crafted foods. I've had the sandwich, soups, and pastries. All incredibly good served by great folks. Will keep coming back and I live 30 minutes away! Will take colleagues to this place as well because good secrets should be shared. read more

The atmosphere was inviting the moment I walked in the door. The staff was super friendly and kind. The artwork hanging around was amazing and well balance/diversified. The pumpkin spice latte, a homemade recipe, was incredible. My already snob levels have been elevated to a higher standard now. And the food... OMG... the food was delicious. They offer a variety of vegan/gluten-free/standard baked goods and meal items. My polenta lasagna came with a massive pile of greens, just the right amount of healthy delicious food. I only wish I didn't live all the way up north, I'd come here often, and have now marked this as a must-visit place when heading south. Even if I have to take a path away from the route. Love this place (maybe they'll open up a sister shop at Greenlake, a girl can always hope and dream) read more

My favorite cafe. Terrific coffee, great sandwichs, and unique atmosphere. The cafe looks like it's straight out of Seattle with art and a fire place as well as a dog friendly patio. If you are in a huge rush though, it's good to know it does take a few minutes to get your coffee. There are always people here and only 2 employees so they do their best. Way better than Starbucks! read more

Favorite coffee shop in town. Stop by for some brunch with my fiancé nearly every day! The staff is friendly and knows not only my usual drink choice but also the second and third options! Food portions are also very hearty and affordable. I love the atmosphere. Very artsy fartsy with paintings by local artists and great live music. Definitely gets an A++ from me. read more

Amazing coffee! I've been going to Zola's for years and have never been disappointed. Their vanilla chai is phenomenal! It does get really busy and the shop is small so get there early if you're meeting someone so you can grab a spot. An easy 5 stars. read more

The location is great because auburn doesn't have much coffee shops. This is deffintly the most cozy Cafe is auburn but not the best coffee. For good coffee auburn has the cyclery. But Zola is the best to lay back and talk with a friend or study. read more

I love this cafe! It is a little bit more pricey, but the food and coffee are well worth it! The environment with the sofas and the tables by the window are really nice. The art inside is so colorful and interesting, it's fun to sit and look at! Try a white mocha here! I haven't had one that tastes quite like it! read more

He insists that their cold brew with caramel is one of the best drinks out there so he got that as well as another for my boyfriend. I got one of their summer special: raspberry mango matcha which was so delicious and refreshing. The flavors of raspberry and mango paired very well with the creaminess of the matcha. I did take a sip of the cold brew and it is definitely better than some of the cold brews that I've had in Tacoma, Seattle, Bellevue, and other areas. They also get pretty busy which shows that they are a great local choice for good coffee, other drinks, and treats! The coffee stand is a good size and the menu is kinda hard to see from far away but once you get closer, you can see better. I do wish they list their prices but I also understand why they don't. Service was also efficient and professional. Going to make a few spots here every now and then as I want to try out their other options! The energy drinks look good too.

The drinks never tasted bad here which is a great sign as I have been to other theaters that have the fountain drink machines that have a bunch of options but it doesn't taste good. The seats here are more comfortable and spacious too. The membership here is pretty great too and even if you don't do the paid version, you get a free drink on your birthday which is nice.

While we were waiting in line to weigh our strawberries, we noticed the staff member at the scale zeroing out the container for the customers ahead of us so they wouldn't be charged for the basket/box itself. She even explained it out loud, which we thought was considerate. However, when it was our turn, she did not zero out the scale. We didn't say anything at the time and assumed maybe it was an honest mistake. What felt disheartening was that immediately after we paid and stepped aside, she zeroed out the scale again for the customer right behind us. My friends, who are of Hispanic ancestry, felt very uncomfortable and singled out by the interaction. I don't want to accuse anyone of racism or say this was intentional, because I don't know that. But I do think it's worth sharing because these kinds of small differences in treatment can really affect how people feel in a space. Our overall experience was okay, but that checkout interaction left a bad impression.

I really, really want to give Zola's a good review, because let's be honest there aren't many cute, unique options in the main drag in downtown Auburn, and we live in walking distance which is nice. However, every time I come here I get the worst vibes from the employees. It's almost like they resent anyone who walks in the door. Which is typically fine, because I am not here for the smiles but rather the yummy coffee and food. Today, it took a turn for the worse. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon at 2:45. Instead of greeting us w a friendly hello, an irritated barista yelled from the back counter "You can't order food anymore because we close at 3". Um... ok? I wasn't planning on ordering food, but whatever. So we walk up to the counter to scope out the menu, and the younger barista throws her hands up at her coworker who is cleaning the food display. The other coworker says to her "I'm sorry, we still have to make coffee" to which the younger worker throws her hands towards the (I'm guessing) freshly cleaned espresso machine as if since she had already cleaned it she couldn't be bothered to make us coffee. So I say, "is there a problem? do we need to go somewhere else?", and the other coworker says "yes, i'm sorry it's just we are trying to clean". I am really curious how the owner would feel about paying multiple employees (there were three staff members there) wages while they are turning away sales. It's really sad and disheartening that this is what is becoming of customer service. I just wanted a latte man. read more

I've been meaning to stop in this corner cafe since I moved to Auburn. Finally did a pitstop there before my colour fix at the tattoo shop. Loved this place! It's like my old stomping grounds in Freemont neighborhood in Seattle! (desparate homesick for my bohemian corner cafes with design character and art!) Got to meet Zola herself, she is refreshing, fun and upbeat. Sometimes u'll go to a store where the owner works and they're burnt out and u don't even know why ur still handing them your hard earned money. This cafe has a large fireplace, art displayed by artist friends of her's on sale, and photography as well!! Fantastic service and such a friendly staff! The overall environment was enjoyable, and there's something special about supporting small family restaurants. The food selection was excellent--wholesome and satisfying. The cafe's decor added to the welcoming atmosphere, and I especially appreciate when local businesses showcase local art--it adds a unique touch and supports the community's creativity.
