If you are interested in Mayan history it's worth a visit. We were staying in a beach house like 2 miles from this site so we of course had to visit. This isn't Chichen Itza so if you are planning on coming a long way make sure you want to make the drive. If you are staying on the coast/Progresso or even Merida it's worth the visit. 75 pesos entrance fee, bring your bug spray and sun screen. You can walk through most of the site in way under an hour. Bathroom at the main gate. You are on your own while in the site. We arrived on a day where there were only 7-8 other people so we go the top of both of the pyramids to ourselves for pictures. One thing that would be nice is a kiosk or sign or something that tells folks about the site. If your a Mayan history buff you will have already read everything you need to know and can drive your group crazy with facts. read more
This particular area is a must-see for anyone who is interested in Mayan history and ancient buildings that are more than 2000 years old. This site was part of a tour my boyfriend purchased through Costco via Iguana tours, and it was absolutely stunning (if not riddled with mosquitoes and other biting insects haha). Xcambó also hosts various wildlife such as iguanas! If you are not from the area, you will be mesmerized that such beautiful creatures casually roam free around the ruins. It was truly a site to behold. Our guide said that these ruins in particular were host to various sacrifices via either the sun or moon temples. There is truly a rich amount of history in this historical site that really makes you consider how old our world truly is. :) Along with various fun facts and tidbits of information regarding the ruins, you can also view the beach from the very top of the temple (which you are allowed to climb up and see for yourself). It's a very unique experience that you can interact with such old ruins and artifacts while the site still remains so preserved. My only advice to people coming here is to bring TONS of repellent; I got eaten alive out here by the insects. read more

Fabulous Mayan site near the beaches and so easy and fun to explore. Go for a quick walk around the site or spend the morning. Lots still being discovered here. Super casual atmosphere for wandering around and exploring the site. Lovely! read more
We had such an amazing experience. Nothing surpasses verifiable history that you can see and touch. Our 12 years old was in awe, as were we. We travel quite a bit so we're not always impressed. This experience blew us away. We can not wait to head black! read more

What an interesting and illustrative place. One more piece of the impressive history of the great Mayan culture. Although I must say that it takes a little maintenance to the place, there were no guides and information about the structures. It is necessary to take sunscreen and repellent because the mosquitoes abound in the place. The view you have from the top of the central pyramid is incredible read more
