We dropped by for a late lunch after work. It was pretty quiet. We had a wonderful waitress who was about to leave for college to UT Austin. She seated up right away since the restaurant was pretty much empty. The restaurant is a cute little place in strip mall on Preston Rd. We started with the Hummus and Eggplant Dip. Both were excellent. I wanted to eat light so I had the Greek Salad with Gyro Meat, My friend had to try the Lamb. He said it was excellent. We were too full for desert. We recently took my brother and sister-in-law from East Texas to Zorba's Greek Cafe for their first truly great Greek food experience, and it was an excellent choice. The atmosphere was relaxed and lively, the service outstanding, and our waiter went above and beyond with recommendations and attentive care throughout the meal. We started with the flaming SAGANAKI -- crispy outside, molten inside, served with warm pita -- and the MELITZANOSALATA, a roasted eggplant dip with garlic and pita. Both were terrific. For entrées, we shared the PASTITSIO and MOUSSAKA, two rich, classic Greek comfort dishes layered with seasoned beef, vegetables, cheeses, and creamy béchamel sauce. My sister-in-law loved the BRAISED LAMB with orzo and green beans, while my brother and I enjoyed perfectly grilled LAMB CHOPS with Greek potatoes, rice, and green beans. Every dish was exceptional. Even completely full, we had to try the PORTOKALOPITA -- a moist orange and shredded phyllo cake soaked in citrus syrup and topped with vanilla ice cream -- the perfect ending to a memorable meal. Their pita is shipped in from Chicago and it's always fresh. Tzatziki is outstanding... The Euro platter is one of our favorites. Great chicken... The Greek potatoes... Everything is good. We BYOB... Came here on Wednesday night for an after work dinner. Was seated immediately and our server Alex came over right away to take our drink order. While waiting for the drinks we had some time to look around and see how pretty this place is as well as nice calming music playing. After our drinks came we ordered an appetizer and entire. The appetizer was this awesome flamed tableside cheese that was absolutely delicious. The entree was incredible but the star of the show was this in house made dessert Portokalopita an absolute must try. One of the best desserts I've ever had. My night was a definite 5 stars and I will make sure to be back to try the rest of the menu. Thank you Alex for a great experience. You made the night that much better. read more

We were frequent flyers at Zorba's many years ago when we lived in far North Dallas. We no longer live nearby but we're in the neighborhood and decided to visit. Unfortunately, the food was not nearly as good as we remembered. Just average. The saganaki was excellent, but the souvlaki was tough and dry. The Greek potatoes and the gyro meat could've been cooked more. It may have been an off night, as it was not very crowded. read more

We had a great lunch at this little Greek spot. As someone who eats gluten free, I was really impressed with their gluten free menu and how accommodating they were with dietary needs. I ordered the Greek village salad, dolmas, and the lamb souvlaki platter, and everything was fantastic. They also had gluten free bread, which was such a nice surprise and really delicious. I finished with the rice pudding, which was also gluten free and absolutely worth it. Our server Ricardo was wonderful and very helpful when we had questions about the menu. Staff members were very nice and I loved that it was a family owned restaurant. But, they really need to step up their food quality. Also, no wine... but BYOB with a charge of you bring your own. There should be a sign on the door. Chicken and shrimp were overcooked. Had to send back my shrimp skewer because the tune, yes mini shrimp, were so overcooked they were rubbery. They were kind enough to give me some chicken skewers to replace the shrimp. But it was also dry and really nothing special. I wouldn't go back unfortunately. read more

We came by here for lunch. I went with the Gyros salad. The Gyro meat was delicious and the highlight of the dish as the salad was pretty basic. It featured iceberg lettuce and not much else (e.g. 2 olives total on the salad). My husband went for the Gyro platter. The meat on his dish was also delicious, but it was the way the potatoes were prepared that seemed to top the dish. The ambiance of the place is rustic and hints at its Greek roots. Our server was friendly and the foot came out quickly. We saw other items on the menu that we'd like to come back another time to try. this is the real deal, great food and irresistible house made desserts. i asked the chef's wife why they left Greece to move here and heard a long and interesting tale. unfortunately couldn't convince to move out west where i live; we're up to our ears in italian, but only minor players from greece. one item of interest, to me anyway, was their village salad, also lacking (as did a previous version at another restaurant nearby) bell peppers. apparently people don't like this ingredient because they would pick them out of their salads. it's no problem, if you want just ask for the complete version which traditionally and, imho essentially, includes thin slices of bell peppers which add a "green note" (cis-3-hexenol) otherwise lacking in this salad. but not missed, apparently, by texans anyway: no accounting for taste. only negative at zorba's is lack of wine list, so byob. in a way that's ok considering that my favorite, standard issue nameless/unknown branded retsina, rarely makes an appearance on such lists due to the lengthy assortment of greek wines named, california style, after the grape variety used. this apparently justifies a much higher price even though there's very little distinction to be found in most varieties of grapes grown in Greece. so maybe in texas you can't have everything, but on the other hand maybe you aren't missing all that much after all. read more

Very disappointing. Had takeout yesterday and was underwhelmed. Ordered for a specific time but came early. Food was already sitting on the counter. Letting fried zucchini appetizer sit in a closed styrene box did nothing for its freshness or taste. Also ordered lamb kabobs. The pieces of lamb were so tiny I didn't need a knife. I couldn't believe this was for an order over $30 and I was still hungry. Maybe they take advantage of takeout orders as if this was served to me in the restaurant I would have complained about the portion size. haven't had much Greek food in Dallas, but this spot definitely left a good impression. The ambiance is authentically Greek, with rustic furniture and paintings that really set the mood. The service was fine--nothing extraordinary, just standard, efficient operation. As for the food, it was solid. I got the Loukaniko Pita Sandwich. 3 stars is Okay in Yelp's world, so three stars it is. This place is just okay. Almost would go to 2 stars ("Could've been better"). Space is clean and comfortable. Food is hit and miss. The dolmas are awful. Stuffing is very earthy beefy tasting, and the sauce has little lemon taste (or the heavy taste of the filling prevents tasting the lemon). The chicken was good but parts overcooked and hard/dry. How can you do that to a chicken leg? Gyro meat was good. Not great, but good. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Plano. We used to live in the area and moved out of state about 15 years ago and still come here whenever we visit. Get the appetizer with three dips - you get to choose them. The hummus, tzatziki, and red pepper are our faves. For entrees, I love the Grecian chicken and I order the lemon potatoes as the side. I enjoyed Zorba's. We love BYOB restaurants and tend to flock their way. I chose the excellent Zorba platter which offered a sampler of different entrees including Gyro, lamb skewers, green beans and an eggplant dish, along with Pita slices. Would have like a dolma thrown on there. BYOB fee was $4 per bottle which was okay but still annoying. My wife's big beef was having paper napkins for a place that charges these prices. Service was friendly and the place was nice enough if not just a little too dark. Lots of folks were getting takeout. Good place. read more

When they began reconstructing 635 some years ago, the construction killed our favorite Greek place. We found another ... Covid killed it. My wife and I tried Zorba's for the first time the other night. My wife had the avgolemono soup, and I had the dolmades as appetizers. Both of them were spot on! Both were quite delicious. I had the pastitsio and wife had the Grecian chicken. Both were outstanding. The portion sizes were enough that my wife had a big lunch the next day. Service was quick and the decor was on point. It wasn't over the top elegant, but it was very nice. We will definitely put Zorba's on our rotation ... and it's our new Greek place. read more

I picked up dinner Friday night and was welcomed by the warm wait staff. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a corner and is so cozy and welcoming. I work in Plano but live about 25 min away from the restaurant. When I got home my food was still fresh. The spanakopita was still crispy and flaky, falafel was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and the lamb was super tender. I had leftovers for the next day which still tasted great. Probably the worst Greek food I've ever had.... The chicken was extremely dry and had no flavor whatsoever, I don't think they even salted it.
