My reserved Double room was small with window view of nothing, so I took their recommended upgrade for a Deluxe Double room facing Plaza Pedro Zerolo. What a difference a few square meters make! Front desk staff were very helpful and always greeted me as I entered. The bed is super comfortable. The glass shower is nice except for the hard to control single faucet. WiFi was strong. Starbucks is downstairs. The rooftop pool and bar is the best feature, with 360 degrees view of central Madrid. I totally recommend this chic gay-friendly hotel. Or straight-friendly.

We spent $422 for two nights and were disappointed in the inaccessibility of the outlets, light switches, difficult bathroom, and dirty carpet for the price we paid. Pros: -The people who worked here were very friendly and helpful -the concept of this hotel (each floor is designed by a different creative) is very cool and fun to explore -the Zaha Hadid space room we stayed in was very interesting and unique to anything else we've ever seen -12 minute drive from MAD airport Cons: -the lights did not make any sense. The light switch next to the bed controls the bathroom light. There is no way to turn off the bright entryway light unless you remove your keycard, which turns off all your power and makes light switches useless -everything in the bathroom gets wet when you use the shower. The shower head broke the first time we tried to use it (was an easy fix but was not fun). The drain is also right where you stand, so had to continue re-opening the drain while showering -be VERY careful getting into and out of shower, it is so easy to fall -the carpets were covered in stains -about 20 min from city center (just to consider when looking where to stay in Madrid if traveling as a tourist) -our travel adapters would not fit in the chargers here because they were placed in a sunken slot Cool place, but not super accessible to stay

We opted for the two, and were put in the 9th floor. The bathroom is all glass. ALL glass. All clear glass. The door to the bathroom, the shower, the walls making up the bathroom. There was at least a sheer curtain we could pull for the side closest to the bed. So we would announce when we had to use the bathroom and the other would just make sure to stay on the other side of the room. Not sure why there is even a door since it's see-through. I don't understand the purpose. I don't care how comfortable you are in your relationship- NO ONE needs to see their friend or spouse sitting on the toilet. Just... no.

They were able to move us to the other Melia Hotel to save the vacation / holiday trip. Thanks as well for the years of private tours and booking our hotel accommodations. We loved the cold cucumber water and candy snacks in the afternoon after we had a busy morning and went back to our room to freshen up. A nice touch, cool detail. Staff was friendly, perfect English to accommodate our struggle Spanish. They sent us chocolate covered strawberries, currants and champagne as a honeymoon gift to our room, very sweetums. The location being next to the Ventura Rodriguez metro stop is incredible. We did not pay for the breakfast since we were looking to try different breakfasts around the city. Indoor pool is a cool amenity but we did not utilize it this trip.

The hotel is right on the popular Cava Baja road, where there is no shortage of tapas restaurants and boisterous, young night lifers spilling out of bars and restaurants and into the street from sundown to well in the morning. The hotel's own entire first floor is a restaurant, with an open-roof courtyard of tables. This sounds nice but presents a problem as the rooms surround this courtyard on the above floors. The noise wasn't *horrible* but it was definitely noticeable - talking, chatting, clinking, laughing - until midnight or so. The rooms are small but with good use of space. My sister and I shared a room, and the lack of mirror of any kind outside the bathroom made it hard for two of us to get ready at once. Also, the bathroom is a sliding glass door with frosted glass, so I don't recommend this for non-couple sharers or those who don't know each other really well. The breakfast buffet was €12, which seemed a bit steep for a breakfast, but the fresh juice and croissants looked tasty. The location was excellent -- we could walk to Mercado San Miguel, Plaza Mayor, Sabatini Gardens, and walking to Museo del Prado and the Reina Sofia was do-able if you wished.

Although the bed was good, it tended to roll away from the head board a bit. The free wifi in the room was a plus - and actually worked quite well. Noise from the busy Grand Via was minimal. Wireless is weak in every room I tried including actual room, bar or restaurant. But is it there and free so I am not complaining. Large room, effective climate control, decent bathroom, very clean and very quiet. Great location for exploring Madrid. You are easy walking distance to the Prado, several major squares, the palace and numerous pedestrian-only shopping areas. Highly recommended, modern and upscale. Great bar, great buffet breakfast.
