A horse drawn cart runs during the day for a few euros and it appears a taxi will take you up but you get a lot of intense looks if you do that. Just walk. I only have one leg and did it just fine Get ticket online and screenshot a closeup of the qr so you can get in the gate easily. No cell there Arrive by 9am at the latest. It does get crowded Bring a cell phone light or flashlight. There are some tunnels that are pitch black. Consider a hat and shoes that can get wet. Lots of side waterfalls that splash and drop on you While it's not officially a one way trail, you will be judged and given the unofficial German cold shoulder if you try to come back down the narrow gorge trail. It's tight. Again i have one leg and a cane and no way was i going to face a long line of judgmental Germans Is it ada accessible? Maybe. Definitely not a full wheelchair and there are parts that are tight width wise. The end has a steady incline in a dark tunnel that would take some pushing. So what do you do at the far end (south end) there are another set of gates. If you go out you have to buy another ticket to get back in so decide before you exit. Face the Germans or do the loop. I'd say the loop is worth it. Just go another 100 yards south and keep left and there is a trail up to the kaisetscmarn-alm. It's a bit of a climb up well taken care of stairs to the top of the canyon. That place is a little restaurant that has great food. Restrooms there too. And you cross a very cool suspension foot bridge that is also suspension stairs. I suggest you pass the kaiser and before you get to the next hotel on the way down turn left and follow the signs to eierbrucke. Essentially you head back to the top of the canyon and get to cross a bridge right over it and look way down on the people in the bottom. Summary. Do it!

Be warned, there are quite a number of stairs to climb and no elevator, but it is not too onerous, and if you have a Fitbit, it will help your stair count considerably! My wife, two daughters (8 and 10), handled the stairs without a problem. When we arrived at the top, we found very nice views of the city and met a number of nice people willing to take pictures of us. It is a bit cramped up at the top, so people need to be friendly and patient with one another. The entire visit does not take very long, so it is a nice thing to do just to get one's bearing on the town and its surroundings. Definitely worth doing.

It is supposed to provide an amazing view of the castle, but we were having a serious torrential mist problem when my husband and I were there. I was glad I brought the Bandolier lanyard that attaches to my phone, so I didn't worry about dropping it while leaning over the edge. The bridge spans the Pollat Gorge. When we were at the castle the sky cleared a little bit and we could see the bridge from there.

This is a bridge built about 300…read morefeet above the Pollet Gorge and provides that jaw dropping view of Neuschwanstein Castle, the inspiration behind Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty castle. Getting to the bridge is about a 1 hour hike up an inclined road from the visitor center, or you could do what I did and take a shuttle bus from the visitor center (10 minute ride for €3,50 = $3.85 USD). The bus leaves every 20 to 25 minutes, starting at 8am and they take cash only. From the bridge it's only about a 10 minute walk down to the castle. Only 200 people are allowed on the bridge at any given time, and there is a counter at the start of the bridge keeping track. I've heard lines can get pretty lengthy during the day. If you walk further along the 115 foot long bridge it's less crowded and you have unobstructed views of the castle. Overall, I can say that the view from here was the highlight of my summer trip to Germany and Italy. If you are visiting Munich or anywhere in the southern Bavarian Alps, you have to see Neuschwanstein Castle. The views are breathtaking.

We were told to arrive 1 hour before our reservation but 30 minutes would have been plenty of time. We were in a small group and our guide made sure that all of us were settled in each room before starting. She gave us a brief overview before starting the prerecorded audio narration. I left feeling more knowledgeable about King Ludwig's childhood and family life at Hohenschwangau. The tour took about 30 minutes and there was not much to see afterwards. We had thought we needed 3 hours for this castle but the walk up was short, but 2 hours for everything was plenty of time for us.

The Innsbruck cable car takes you from the city center to the top of the Nordkette mountain for spectacular views. Since it was closed, there was no one to ask if there were other ways up...it was a bit of a let down, so we just walked back to town and had lunch.

You park in the lot and need to get a ticket from a machine (euro coins only) or you can purchase it with your access ticket at the shop - you will then need to bring it back out to your car. You then walk approx 15-20 minutes - uphill to access the castle ruins and bridge. On the other side of the bridge there are additional structures and a great viewing platform. To me this is a great deal to cover so many bases. If we lived local, I could see doing this again as it is something the whole family would enjoy. We really enjoyed this.

The way back was a little more nerve-racking as there were more people and I was trying to walk fast. There's a nice little area on the far side, where you can sit and admire the castle ruins, before returning back across the bridge. I couldn't see an alternative way back so make sure you can stomach crossing the bridge twice! BEWARE; The lift pass costs extra (so your highline ticket goes from €10 to €19 very quickly!). I didn't read anything about having to take the lift up on the website, so if the information is on there, it's not obvious. I couldn't see if there was a way to walk up but I assume there is...? However, the lift does take you up to the ruins and you can walk around them for free. You can also get an additional lift pass (for another fee) to continue to the very top way above the castle ruins. I didn't feel the need as the view is already pretty spectacular from the castle ruins. Worth a visit if heights are your thing!
