The table was ready when we arrived, our drinks were served shortly after we placed our order. When the food began arriving the children's meals came first which really helped settle them down. I ordered Schweinebraten (Bavarian style pork roast). The meat was succulent and tender. It was topped with a crispy piece of fried pork-belly. A gigantic potato dumpling and a dollop of sauerkraut completed the plate. A nice dark bock beer from the Weltenburger brewery was a perfect pairing with the entree. The others in our group were well satisfied with their choices as well. Also this is an independent restaurant, which means they are not tied to a specific brewery, they pick their beers weekly/monthly and that makes for a great offering of quality local beer. Their other dishes are equally delicious, if you don't like pork should I always recommend checking out some of their daily specials. On my last visit I have beef roulades, which are beef rolls willed with bacon, onions and pickles. They are also served with gravy and a potato dumpling. Make sure to call for reservations, this place is extremely popular with locals. Chances of getting a table on a walk in basis are slim to none.

Part of the restaurant's schtick is that it is ye olde fashioned food place (beers are served in earthenware cups instead of glasses), but no need to dwell on that; just go for the food. As with most German places, making reservations gets you a better table but they gladly accommodated our large party as walk-ins. The bathrooms don't match the rest of the place (think college bar), but they are OK. Certainly doesn't detract from the overall experience.

Many restaurants and street vendors on carts offer the same type of food for the same price. Once we went inside the inn to get some relief from the summer heat thinking I could combine some cold drinks with this advertised deal, I discovered that same deal is now 4.10 euro to my dismay. I didn't feel like paying extra for the same food, so I decided just to grab the sandwich for take away (out) and get some drinks elsewhere. Sorry, call me cheap, but I just couldn't accept that in principle. I felt like I was duped into a deal... However, brats were just as good as I remembered and more. The bun--crispiness of outside and soft and chewiness of inside...umm, you just can't get this anywhere else...IMHO.

I don't know if that is the case or not but, it is the best Dampfnudel I have tasted so far. They speak little or no English here and my limited German skills came quite handy. The service is very typical Bavarian and the menu is all in German. If on doubt look around and order what the others are having here "Dampfnudel" :-) Basically Dampfnudel is a Bavarian Brioche with a thick and creamy vanilla custard and its stodgy, saucy and buttery goodness on a plate. The locals have it as a main course for lunch and its simply delicious here. I also tried their Bratwurst with Sauerkraut which was also divine. The service is very friendly and the prices are extremely reasonable. Lunch for two with drinks and coffee was €20 all up for what was a memorable meal :-)) I would come here daily if I could. I might regret it but know that I will die happy ;-))
