For a high end restaurant, I thought the prices were actually very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the service. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the salmon and yellowtail trio with caviar was easily the best dish of the night. If you're coming here, I highly recommend ordering it. It was fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Another surprise was the seasoned potato dish. It sounds simple, but it was cooked perfectly and had incredible flavor. Definitely one of the best side dishes we tried. The service was friendly, the food came out at a good pace, and the overall experience was excellent from beginning to end. Zuma is a solid spot, but don't expect to be wowed walking in. The exterior blends right into the Cosmopolitan and is easy to walk past if you're not looking for it. Inside, the vibe is sleek and upscale without being particularly memorable. The food is good, not great. We were seated right next to the robata counter, so naturally we had to try something off the grill. The prime ribeye was well cooked and flavorful, and we rounded it out with the spicy tuna maki, which was fine but nothing you haven't had before. The real standout of the night was the sweet potato tempura. Perfectly crispy and paired with a chili goma dipping sauce that is genuinely excellent. I ended up dipping everything else on the table into it, and it paired with the ribeye better than expected. We finished with the green tea and banana cake, topped with coconut ice cream and peanut toffee sauce. It sounds incredible and it's beautifully presented with thin apple slices fanned across the top, but the cake itself falls a little flat on flavor. Another great dinner here. I had a colleague in town and last minute decision to have a quick dinner. No reservation made on a Tuesday evening. We walked in and were given a few options of where we can sit. Counter works well. Went to Zuma on whim after hearing raving reviews from co workers and it truly didn't disappoint. We did the signature omakase set and if you really want a bang for your buck, this is it. With multiple appetizers and a beautiful presentation of the sushi round PLUS the dessert was delicious but also visually stunning. Everyone around us had to take a picture. Wow! Wow! Wowwww! Our 7pm dinner reservation at ZUMA in The Cosmopolitan was nothing short of deliciousness. Note that it is $$$$, so we strategically ordered just enough to satisfy our tummies from being famished. Our late night plan was to also have room for late night secret pizza, too! But, wow. First impression....5/5!! We ordered about two plates per person and devoured it family style. Shout out to our server Maggie, as well as the sushi bar chef's, Mateo and Luis, for preparing the mouth watering rolls. Probably the best sushi I've had so far in Vegas!!! Our party of six pretty much ordered every item on the Maki Rolls menu. But, my top favorites were the Chirashi Maki, Argun Negi Toro Maki with Caviar, and Ebi Tempura Roll. Chef's kiss!!!! We also thoroughly enjoyed the Prime Ribeye, Roasted Potato, Shiitake Mushrooms, and cocktails. Our finale was the special Chocolate lava cake with gelato. Ambience was lively and fun! The restroom situation was different and if there's anything I would change it would be that. The restrooms are 1 person use restroom, there is no sign that says male or female. If you look very closely then you would see a muted picture of what looks like a male and female next to the restroom but it was very difficult to spot. We're at the Cosmo so often that curiosity eventually got the best of us and we made a reservation for Zuma. We like to dine early, so the place was very quiet when we arrived. Even so, our server seemed to be in quite a hurry as she zoomed through the "dining experience at Zuma" and some specials. She was exhausting. The other men and women that assisted with service were great, immediately re-folding napkins, clearing dishes and re-filling water. I feel like once we said we weren't interested in one of the Omakase's or cocktails, our server lost interest in us. To be transparent, we don't love Japanese food. But we like steak and seafood so we were easily able to find things to order. We started with the softshell crab katsu ($27), which was two pieces of fried crab that were so fishy and unfresh tasting that we both left most of it on the plate. Off to a bad start. The food arrives as it's ready, so up next was a side of sweet corn (on the cob, $18). It was good. Probably the best thing we ate. Weird, right? Next came the 8-oz signature rib eye ($58), which had a nice flavor but unfortunately, arrived cold. Finally, the thing we were most looking forward to... the roasted 1.5 pound lobster with shisho ponzo butter ($91). This was really disappointing. There was a fair amount of lobster meat, but it was obliterated by the sauce... you could have been eating a sponge as there was just no taste of lobster at all. Here is the best thing and what we'll remember about Zuma... the walkway to the bathrooms has a fantastic view! And the bathrooms themselves are very pretty. So yeah.... the food is not worth the money but when you go to the bathroom, you'll see a nice view and some cool fixtures. Pretty dining room too. Food just didn't do it for us. read more

Hubby and I were staying at the Cosmopolitan for our anniversary weekend and I made us some reservations at Zuma. Since our flight into Vegas was later on in the day, we had no expectations about this place and booked it out of convenience since it was right in our hotel. After coming here, I can easily say that this is one of our favorite restaurants we've ever been to! THE MOOD: The vibe of Zuma is hip, trendy, and modern. It feels upscale as you walk in and the bar area is nicely lit and had great mood lighting. It's a great place for a date night, especially with the ambient lighting throughout. There's several spots throughout the restaurant where you can see food being made. We sat at the countertop and were so glad we did since it felt like we were getting dinner and entertainment right in front of us. THE FOOD: The food was exceptional! We ordered the following: - Salmon and Tuna Tartare with imperial oscietra caviar (10/10 on presentation. The chips that come with it were so tasty - the waiter brought out even more for us since we went through them so quickly). - Toro roll (super fresh, fatty, melt in your mouth toro) - Lobster tempura, takama, truffle and crispy rice (loved the crispy bites) - Kurobuta pork belly with yuzu mustard miso (my favorite dish of the night - fatty, sweet, savory) - Sweet corn with shiso butter and shichimi pepper (perfectly cooked and the butter throughout really brought out the corn flavor). - Lava cake (super decadent and the chocolate tasted super luxurious) - Strawberry rhubarb honey toast (refreshing and the cake was very moist) THE 'TUDE: I cannot express enough how much I appreciate good service and our waiter was just on point throughout the whole evening. Everything was timed so well. As soon as we were done with one plate, another one was right in the wings ready to be served to us. He came by to check on us at all the right times and was just really attentive without being overbearing. We made a reservation for 9pm and were seated right away upon arrival. The restaurant is a bit more upscale vibes so I don't recommend wearin flip flops and shorts lol. Food overall was pretty good as long as you don't care about price since it was about 700 for a party of 4 with tax and tip. Therefore my rating for the foods will not consider the price. Seared waygu 7/10: this dish was really good and the sauce was definitely more soy saucy than ponzu. The quality of the meat was pretty good and it melted in your mouth. However, since the meat is so buttery I recommend sharing this dish since it could get tiring. Sea bass 7/10: this dish had so much more potential since the fish was cooked so perfectly. Cooked enough where it was still buttery and somewhat flaky. However the downfall was probably the sauce. I felt like it lacked complexity and it was just salty rather than having that umami taste I crave. Scallop 10/10: this was probably my favorite dish since I'm a sucker for scallop. The scallop is cooked so that it's a bit raw in the middle but the flavor profile was great. The scallop itself was so fresh. Grilled nicely on the outside for that firmness but a bit raw on the inside for the softness. Loved it. Calamari 7/10 I would say it's your typical calamari with that nicely battered outside and chewy inside. I would wish that there is a better sauce that comes with it so that you can dip. Either a soy sauce based sauce with yuzu or even a creamy mayo sauce. We did end up asking for a spicy mayo which rly put the dish together. Ribeye steak cooked to a requested medium 9/10: part of the steak was medium and the other half I would say is a medium rare. I'm glad some of it was medium since I don't enjoy rare as much but good thing half my table liked the rare. It came with sea salt which I liked and you also have the option of using their chili soy saice which was great too. The meat wasn't chewy and it was pretty tender to my liking (the medium side) so just be aware that if you order this, it does come more on the raw side. Toro carpaccio off menu item 10/10: amazing dish the fish literally melted in your mouth. You can really taste the quality of the fish. And all the toppings that come with it rly bring the dish together. The sauce isn't a refreshing sauce but it's more of a soy sauce based with a hint of lime. Pork belly 8/10: super delicious flavor and not overly fatty like other places. The sauce it came with was also really good. But honestly the marinade was already a good mix of umami and sweetness that I didn't even need the sauce! Matcha banana cake with coconut 7/10: not too sweet which I like. I just wish there was more evenness when it came to the banana and matcha part. 80% of the cake was banana. The matcha was the rest of it on the bottom. Having the coconut ice cream made the cake a lot more moist when eating it together. Other not pictured: Fried Tofu with avocado salad 6/10: basic dish and the salad didn't rly have any dressing to it. The fried tofu had a good seasoning to it but honestly nothing special Table side potato 5/10: it's just bake potato with some lime. Nothing memorable for me. Overall it's def a treat coming here. Not enough good things to say about ZUMA. After several sad misses at various restaurants ZUMA was redemption!! The ambiance was very festive and a wonderful hustle and bustle! Our server was Zee and she was great! I had wanted to enjoy the omakase special dinner which is a minimum of two and 228.00 per person but discovered it's a minimum of two people but the entire table must participate. I thought I was going to be very disappointed by this revelation but we quickly moved beyond this news and just started ordering! Every single item we ordered was better than the last. The tuna selections were absolutely amazing. Toro, chutoro, the sweet shrimp sashimi was so yummy and it's been a while since I've seen this on a menu. The special roll they were making that night was magic! Topped with caviar this chutoro tuna roll was so good, we had to order another! The salmon belly was charred to perfection and still managed to finish it medium rare. The steak, to die for. Fresh grated wasabi was a treat, drinks were perfect. Plate after plate were shared with great enthusiasm. We ate with abandon and it was the most satisfying meal of the trip. Found myself in Vegas and wanted to be sure to return to Zuma adter having visited Nobu om a prior visit. Wanted to eat some more amazing sushi and also try some other dishes ( robata, apps etc) Made reservations and was able to change to later time as we got stuck roaming the strip. Pulled up at our appointed time and were promptly seated.. Vibes are always good and lots going on from sushi bar to robata grill. Took some suggestions and opted for some rolls, robata by way of tiger prawn with yuzu and roasted potato with shiso butter (Not to be missed!!) Also, added in fried spicy todu with avocado salad and salmon / tuna tartare with caviar. Throw in some amazing drinks ( they are one of few bars to have an extensive Japanese Whisky selection - Hakushi 12 anyone? ) and you ve got a great night of food and drinks. Quality? Yes. Expensive? Yes. Do you get your money's worth here? I don't think so. The chirashi maki was balanced but it wasn't as flavorful or memorable as I thought it'd be for a $26 roll. It's hard to ruin a sea bass so, though it was good, I won't give them props for it, specially because it was rather small and didn't come with any sides, only some greens on top. The most memorable dish was the dessert. The presentation of that cheesecake was top notch, it looked like a piece of art, a dessert that you'd find in a two star Michelin restaurant. While the brûlée and the raspberry coulis were on point, again, I don't think it justified the price ($30). All in all, a decent option for modern Asian food on the strip, but you don't get much value out of it. read more

I'm just not the right target audience for Zuma. Overpriced, scene-y Japanese food. Food was fine but the prices are ridiculous. $12 for a bowl of miso soup!? Don't expect to walk out for less than $100 per person, and no you won't be super full either. We got a mix of things - the cured salmon with shiso yuzu dressing and ikura was good, iberico pork skewers with hatcho miso barbecue and lime turned out to be pork belly and was too fatty for me, steamed baby spinach with sesame dressing was tasty, 8oz rib eye steak with wafu sauce and garlic crisps was fine but nothing special, spiced lamb (2 chops) with japanese pickles is a tiny portion for $46 and too spicy for me, asparagus with wafu sauce and sesame was kind of bland. The skirt steak was probably the best dish of the evening. Why only 4 stars? Considering what Zuma charges, the drink pour was not even close to being "generous" at all compared to other high end establishments. And just a minor irritation, but they have a policy that if the majority of the party wasn't present, they won't seat anyone.
