Zupadi Indian Restaurant is worth a detour if you're craving Indian cuisine in the Scranton-Wilkes Barre area of Pennsylvania. Nearly perfect reviews had me a bit skeptical initially, but once the food started coming out, we were pleasantly surprised. While it's located in a strip mall and it's not overly fancy inside, the interiors are modern, warm, and inviting. The menu is quite extensive in its offerings, and for drinks, they also offer canned beverages from India like Thums Up and Limca. To drink, I had a mango lassi (5/5) that was fresh and refreshing, with just the right amount of mango taste accents without being too sweet. To start off, they provide a complimentary puffed rice appetizer with a side pickled onion chutney which was a nice way to start off the meal. For the appetizer, we ordered the onion pakoras (4.5/5). The onion and chickpea batter preparation was really good without being excessively salty or oily, and served in a generous portion size that was perfect for sharing with multiple people. For meals, we ordered the cheese butter masala and saag paneer. The cheese butter masala (4.5/5) particularly jumped out at us, as the menu specifies that it's prepared with Amul cheese (fairly well known in India), which I haven't seen in preparations at other Indian restaurants. While it was a bit on the heavier side with the cheese mixed into the tomato-based gravy, it was very unique and well-liked, and a nice change of pace from typical paneer makhani or paneer masala recipes. The saag paneer (5/5) was a similarly delicious preparation with its tasty spinach-based gravy. Even the naan (5/5) we ordered was fresh and fluffy, just the way we like it. Despite us encountering multiple wait staff over the course of the meal, the service (5/5) was excellent and even the chef came out during the meal to personally check in on us to ask how everything tasted, and to ask us if we needed anything else. It was a nice touch that really impressed us as we haven't seen that in ages; other Indian restaurants should take note that it's little things like that along with the quality food that can really make an impression on guests and keep customers coming back. If I had one minor gripe, it's that they didn't have all the desserts on the menu available (including the one we wanted), so we wound up skipping dessert, but probably for the best since the portion sizes were generous and we were stuffed from all the delicious food we had. While I usually estimate my overall rating to half stars on Yelp and then either round up or down, I'd rate the restaurant a 4.75/5, and am happy to round up as we very much enjoyed our meal and the service provided. We agreed that we'd return to Zupadi, and I would recommend them to others looking for quality Indian cuisine in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre area.

Some the best fish, lamb chops, and tandoori chicken I have ever had. The service was also great. I would definitely recommend.

Ya girl was excited to try a few different dishes all at once. They had one section that has meat in the dishes and one dishes that it's all vegetables. I got to try all the vegan dishes that they had to offer that day and I enjoyed it. I would come back if I'm in that town again. The food temperature isn't warm-hot or cold, it's like room temperature. I was starving that day when I came so I didn't really care about the temperature. The seasoning in the food was there but I feel like they can add some more heat or depth into the seasoning. Service can be a lil slow, to re fill the water and to take way dirty dishes. A restaurant that's right odd the highway is a no easy task to maintain and make everyone happy but it's a very good spot for anyone who enjoys Indian food.

I have ordered Vegetable korma hundreds of times all over the world & this was the worst - vegetables were so mushy, it was flavorless & if you are going to put paneer in it make sure that's clearly stated on the menu, some of it was very sour. I sincerely considered returning it, but chalking it up to a Monday.

The Naan was delicious and had nice crunch on outside and soft inside, the garlic had a nice pop. The portion will definitely feed 2 easily. The restaurant's clean and charming decor, reminiscent of a 50's diner, set a welcoming tone. As we browsed the menu, it was encouraging to see several Uber Eats and DoorDash drivers picking up orders--a sure sign of a popular spot! Our server was incredibly helpful, guiding us through the menu based on our tastes. I opted for the Chicken Biryani, while my nephew eagerly chose the Chicken Naram Garam, as recommended by our lovely server. He requested his dish spicy, which he loved, while I played it safe with a mild/medium spice level, and they graciously accommodated my request. We started with Chicken Pakora as an appetizer, and it was delicious! Every dish we ordered was made to order, showcasing freshness in every bite. We even had the pleasure of speaking with the chef, who was clearly dedicated to his craft, hand-chopping vegetables and meats with care. You could see the joy in his face as he prepared our meals--his passion for cooking truly shone through. When our food arrived, we were amazed at the generous portions. The aroma wafting from our dishes was mouthwatering, making it hard to wait before digging in. Each bite was a delight, bursting with flavor and freshness. We savored every moment, and despite our best efforts, we still had plenty of leftovers to enjoy later. After our meal, the chef came over to check on us, genuinely interested in our experience. His pride in his culinary creations was evident, reflecting the rich traditions of Indian and Pakistani cooking he embodies. In summary, Kabab and Naan offers delicious, fresh, made-to-order food crafted with love and respect for authentic recipes. The service was friendly, and the restaurant itself was spotless. If you're in the area and craving Indian or Pakistani cuisine, make sure Kabab and Naan is at the top of your list. We can't wait to return!
