A smallish, but comfy restaurant/bistro to the south of the city centre, serving "local cuisine…read morewith attitude", i.e. the local choucroute/sürkrüt/sauerkraut in several variations (well it is set in a former Sauerkraut factory)as well as other local specialities such as Dampfnudle, little yeast dough dumplings fresh from the pan (yes, from the pan) with different accompaniments. If you want to get an idea, you can find the menu on their website (http://www.choucrouterie.com/resto_carte.asp) .
And when you're already in the neighbourhood (and you feel your French is up to it), why not check out the theatre at the back of the complex (http://www.qype.com/place/110168-Theatre-de-la-Choucrouterie-Strasbourg) ? Just be warned: Being locals, they might switch over to German, or worse still their Alsatian dialect, every now and then, so you might want to check with the ticket office before you hand over the money :)
