Thank you Anna & Brittany for redeeming a terrible experience. I rarely write reviews but as a frequent and long time customer, I felt this one was important. Tonight, we had Anna as our main server and Brittany at the end. They both had the level of professionalism, kindness, and product education that I have come to expect from ZZ & Simone's. The food is always delicious, but the service is what makes this place exceptional. After my last experience, I had become disillusioned with the restaurant as our last server a few months ago was horrible, her name was Kenzie. She was very unprofessional and could not answer my basic questions about the food or alcohol at the restaurant. It diminished the idea I had built over the years of ZZ's and it honestly made me really upset/not want to return. My party left upset at our experience and it was my guest's first impression of the restaurant. The highlight of my meal at ZZ & Simone's was their calamari. It was tender and lightly battered but what really made it special was the sauce. I'm not sure what it was but on this particular night it was garlicky with capers and parsley. The Burrata was also pretty good. It came with grilled toast and some mild accompaniments such as pickled peppers and sun dried tomatoes. I would have liked if the peppers were even more pickled. If you like sharp, aged cheeses and garlic, you will love the Bianca Pizza. Unfortunately for a margherita type like me, it was simply too sharp. The crust and overall bread is nicely wood toasted and quite pillowy. I appreciated the spiciness of the rigatoni alla vodka but it was also the most expensive dish of the night. It is light on the tomato flavor but a comforting dish nonetheless. The least stand out for me were the meatballs. They tasted good but were unjustifiably expensive at $7 each. We ended the night with a complimentary chocolate gelato in celebration of my boyfriend's birthday. This alone is worth coming back for. The chocolate was rich and even so heightened by the flaky salt it was topped with. It was also stretchy and soft. As evidenced by the complimentary dessert, our service experience was pretty amazing. I would definitely pay attention to their nightly specials because there are quite a few gems. read more

I have dined at Zz's several times and cannot talk about this place enough to my friends. Every experience is amazing, and I always leave happy! My girlfriend and I are a little untraditional and like to "share" all the plates we order. Let's cut to the chase...we ordered the Charred Corn and Radicchio Salad along with the Meatballs for the appetizer. The salad is an explosion of flavors and is definitely one of my new favorites. The meatballs are amaze-balls! They melt in your mouth with a delicious homemade red sauce finish. For the larger plates, we ordered the Rigatoni a la Vodka, Chicken Parmesan, and Pepperoni Pizza. The pasta and chicken Parmesan were perfect complements to each other. The pizza was also very good, but I would suggest the Lemon Pizza if you are looking for something "different" :) ! For dessert, we usually get the gelato but on our last visit, they had the most amazing Tiramisu! The cup was wiped clean! I literally wanted more, but my body was telling me NO! Unfortunately or ultimately fortunately, we never got an opportunity to try the place, despite the limited and pricey menu. Upon our arrival, the hostess was condescending and rude, and she basically told our party of four to get lost since they were already booked all night. On a Thursday early evening. During summer break. There were outdoor tables available which were all empty, which this lovely hostess claimed that it would take 30 minutes to clean. What?? Pity. We had a wad of cash to spend. I LOVE ZZ's. It's not terribly pricy, serve is always fast, friendly and great and the food is soooo yummy. I could eat this set of dishes all day. Start with the fennel salad - it's light, crunchy and a great blend of citrus and fresh herb. Then, grab the chickpea pasta. It may sound like a strange combination for a pasta dish, but it's light, filling and has a great mix of flavors. The sauce isn't heavy at all and the thyme on top blends it so well. Lastly, finish off with dessert. We tried the lemon tart (multiple times) and always couldn't get enough. Couldn't recommend this place enough! read more

I've given this restaurant several chances and I just don't get it. The atmosphere is great and the service is good, but the food is mediocre at best and waaayyyyy overpriced. $16 for a tasteless Caesar Salad and add $12 for tasteless "poached" aka boiled chicken breast?!?! The pasta dishes are also way overpriced. I would only recommend this place as a fancy delicious pizza place--order an affordable beer. And the artichokes are worth getting. Otherwise you'll feel robbed and mad you wasted your time and money. read more

We arrived at ZZ & Simone's with our piggy banks in hand, hoping our savings were enough to buy us a delicious meal at this expensive eatery. Unfortunately, we were seated by the door on a chilly night, forced to huddle for warmth each time the door opened and closed. Not wanting this to diminish our spirits, we kept our coats on and scanned the menu for what would satisfy our ravenous appetites. With waters in front of us, we first ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. But not without a warning... the waitress stated that the rigatoni was quite spicy and asked if we would like it to be toned down. We declined, of course, as we love a good kick to our plates. When it arrived, we braced ourselves for the impact of the foretold spice, but we were met with none. That is, limited flavor and no spice whatsoever, which greatly shocked us after that warning. In addition, we ordered the chicken parmigiana with a side of spaghetti. This plate appeared highly impressive with its grandiose size, but was unfortunately too large as the center of the chicken wasn't cooked to our liking. The noodles, however, were fantastic! Besides the fact that they were an extra $10 In our experience, the most respectable restaurants include the noodles, considering they are an affordable product to make. We elected to spend what little was left of our pocket change elsewhere for dessert. While the homemade noodles definitely made this experience, our expectations were simply not met. A picture perfect date night with food, drinks, and ambiance that far exceeds anything else on the Athens dining scene, ZZ & Simone's far exceeded any expectations I had and has quickly cemented itself as my favorite spot in town. We visited on a recent weekend trip to town, and came early with reservations on Friday. This spot has a very well done and social media friendly interior- with soft pastels and trendy accents galore- but we opted for a big, semi-private table on their spacious and relaxed patio. It made for a perfect setting for an incredible meal. This spot's menu is top-notch and features a great array of classic Italian with modern touches. Their cocktail and wine list follows this model, and we started with a bright and delicate limoncello cosmopolitan for me and seriously one of the best margaritas- brightened with mandarin juice for an outstanding citrus burst- I've had in a while. For starters, we shared their tasty focaccia with lemony ricotta and a crunchy and fresh Caesar with a generous portion of grana shavings to finish. For our meals, we each sampled from their pizza menu- a delicious Bianca for her, and a lemon pizza- topped with red onion and lemon zest- for me. Fluffy, chewy, and salty, they were perfect. We ended our meal with a couple of glasses of sambuca from their enormous selection of digestifs, served traditionally with three espresso beans for good luck. A five-star meal served in a relaxed but beautiful and trendy setting, ZZ & Simone's is one of the best meals I've had in a while and is unmatched pizza, drinks, and vibes in Athens, Atlanta, and beyond. read more

Opened recently here in Athens, and we were in need of a good Italian restaurant! Since it's opening, I've been twice and enjoyed both dinners. Every dish I've had has been wonderful- the bolognese, the meatballs, the cacio e pepe, and the spicy rigatoni. The focaccia bread and caesar salad were also equally yummy. The service was great with incredible recommendations. Food was all excellent and the drinks were just as good! The non-alcoholic drink "Gloria" was possibly better than our cocktails so I recommend if you like floral flavors to give it a try! I had the crab fra diavallo (easily a 10/10) the rigatoni ala vodka (another 10/10) and sides of the green beans and mushrooms which were great to break up the heavy pastas. This guy I know and I went here ..... he said the sauce on the margarita pizza tasted like it was from a can and I had the tortellini... It was just sort of an odd flavor combination like orange and hazelnut with cheese? But the bartender said they make the pasta fresh each morning.... My coworker really likes this place I should have asked her what she gets when she goes here bc I obviously didn't order well... The decor on the inside is cute. read more

Service was friendly and very attentive. Our Caesar salad and shrimp cocktail starters were much better than just the standard recipes. The shrimp were big and beautiful and delicious. The Cucumber salad so far exceeded what I expected I can't even say how good it was. The focaccia bread appetizer with the ricotta butter was so different and special we won't forget it . My brother in law said the pasta was SO fresh, it tasted like it had been made this afternoon. He travels a lot and he said this is "New York quality"-top notch!
