You can take the funicular, walk or a taxi/Uber. The funicular is closed on the weekend (at least it was the time I was there). I recommend not walking up as it is brutal. I walked down and even that was hard. At the top are some food stalls, souvenir places and a nice cocktail bar/restaurant overlooking the view.

if there are no mass / events going on you enter the church freely to check it out! this was my…read morefirst time going in as last time i don't believe the church doors / gates were open. the church is very well preserved and it's absolutely beautiful! i don't think i've ever been in such a beautiful catholic church before. apparently the gold material in the church are real gold as guanajuato is known for gold mining in colonial days. bougie! and talk about all the beautiful chandeliers! i'll take one of each :)

It is a small oasis in the city with a beautiful fountain and a cozy atmosphere. A pretty plaza, with historic buidlings around, a nice place to decompressin Guanajato!

But it's a pretty tiny "lake" and not especially scenic. When we got there, we decided not to rent a boat because it was so small. Maybe families with young children would like it? The neighboring park is really beautiful, though.
