Located on the Asian side of Istanbul, this hill offers the best panoramic view of the city and also the Bosphorus River. The hill is 268 m (879 ft) high. The view was great when we went in the daytime, but from seeing photos online, the view is just as spectacular at night with all the city lights. The small park here is a nice place to relax as well, but is very basic overall. There is a small cafe, a fountain and some sculptures and seating and that's about it. read more

For those who have read my reviews or know anything about me, I really, really, really appreciate free shit. And I think this could be one of the best free things in Istanbul. As the city's highest peak, it is the only place you can see both a beautiful view of the Asian and European sides at once. It also features half-price everything. Paid 14tl for a potato in Ortakoy? Aw, that's too bad. You could have gotten one for 7tl at Camlica! Paid 4tl for that weak cup of tea? Well Camlica is serving them up for just 1tl, folks! Ahahah. Okay ridiculousness aside, there are two other great things about this hill. One is that it is really hard to reach without a car. You need to be ready for a climb and come armed with navigational skills (or at least an ability to ask for help, read road signs, and talk to bus drivers) if you want to visit without a car. Why is that a great thing? Less tourists! The second great thing is the Ottoman-style tea house. Take a peek, especially in winter, and feel a little bit transported back in time to a simpler, lazier afternoon. They also serve seasonal desserts there. It can be pretty crowded though. Which brings me to my next point. I highly recommend visiting this place on a rainy day, in winter, or during Ramazan. Since it tends to attract the kind of religious and/or scared of weather Turkish people, you will battle a lot less crowd if you plan to go on off days. And avoid the weekend, unless it's rainy/Ramazan/winter. As for the restaurant, it is not special and probably isn't worth a visit. Run over to Comlek for some famous fasulye across the street. I've been coming here with guests for many years now and every time it's breathtaking. Highly recommended! read more
