The most important thing to understand is that, as at the local banks, you need to take a number from a small kiosk just as you enter the main building. Select the category of service that you need, take the printed number, and then go to the main hall and watch the displays. For many of the services, tasks of a particular nature will be addressed at the same counter, so the ticket numbers close to yours will likely be for a similar service and at the same counter that you are waiting for. Remember that postage stamps are called známky (singular známka). While you are waiting, you can take in the lovely Art Nouveau design of the main hall.

I took a ticket for what I thought I needed, but then my number wasn't called for a couple minutes despite it being empty. I walked to several windows and despite being seen, was not really acknowledged either. I finally showed one of them my ticket, but she gave me instructions in Czech, prompting me to go back to the front and getting a new ticket, this time selecting the correct option. My number was then called almost instantly. The woman who took care of me was pleasant enough. It was not crowded, and there seem to be a lot of booths.

There was no line as I went in the early afternoon and luckily the person assisting me knew enough English to help me fill out the form and get the package sent on it's way! The pricing was fine and the package arrived fine in Canada after 2 weeks.
