    Vegetable fried rice

Very flavorful and delicious dishes. The portion sizes are quite decent as well. For the flavor and size and quality, prices are worth it (they are on the higher side). We went on a weekday during lunch and it was fairly empty. All our dishes came out super quick!

The service is great, they're open late, which is awesome. The food is also very good, fresh. The price is just wild. We got chicken chow mein, shrimp chow mein, beef and broccoli (with no rice or noodles) and wonton soup. It was $77! This is not including a delivery fee. We picked it up. You'd think the beef and broccoli would come with rice. I assume we'll be back bc the food is good and they're open late. The price was just very alarming, which is why I'm giving it three stars. Also, no fortune cookies?

FEELING HUNGRY and not sure what to eat? There are so many choices here! I especially love the beef noodles and dumplings. The sticky rice with pork rib was good, and the tofu was okay. I was a little disappointed that the hot sour soup, cucumber salad, and string green beans didn't have much flavor. The food came out quickly, which was a plus. It's a casual dining place, and the customer service was okay. Our waitress came to check on us once after all the food was delivered.

Amazing authentic Chinese food! Their menu also comes in Mandarin which excited my Chinese gf when I brought her here. Everything is fresh and made to order, we frequent this place and it's our fave in Austin. Get their XLB, noodle dishes (of course!) and their street food and dessert!

Red oil chili wontons and the beef noodle soup were okay, but the cumin beef was a bit underwhelming and pricy for the portion. The cumin beef might be better with rice imo, but it doesn't come with rice.

THE BIG: Located in the Lake Creek Festival shopping mall that straddles Cedar Park and Austin. Spacious interior with plenty of seating and parking out front. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I had Special Noodle twice: once for takeout and the other dine-in. Dine in was wayy better. Seating was seamless and you wait to be seated. Ordering was also pretty straightforward with ordering food via the QR code and then paying via the waiter coming to you. Foodwise we got the Spicy pork xiao long bao, pork soup pan fried buns, snow flake potstickers and spicy beef noodle soup. The spicy pork xiao long bao is a bit too spicy but the wrapper and the soup was delicious. Spicy beef noodle soup was perfect with the handpulled noodles. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done was around $75 for four dishes. Definitely way better in person and fresh than ordering takeout.

Update!! My husband and I visited in person and the food is 1000x better fresh! I loved the beef noodle soup. Broth is delicious and the noodles are freshly hand pulled. The beef was very tender too. Soup dumplings are really good as well. I thought the pan fried dumplings were too bready but the meat inside was flavorful and juicy. Service is quick and plenty of chairs and booths inside.

This place was pretty good! We definitely over ordered, so maybe if we each got one plate, we would have felt more satisfied. I wish the beef ($3) and pork belly ($9) skewers comes with only one seasoning, I wish you were able to add your own. The braised pork soup ($19) was really good. The Xiao Long Bao ($18) was good, but I felt like it got cold extremely fast. This was a very nice and clean restaurant, and the service was nice! I would go back, just know their portions are big!

Special noodle is a gem. Their food is delicious and they have several dishes I have never seen elsewhere. Their dumplings, wontons and soup dumplings were all phenomenal. I rate this restaurant above some of our favorites like Asia Café and House of three gorgeous because their menu is unique and they have those items that we like elsewhere but also so many wonderful additional things that we can't get anywhere else. Their shrimp for the walnut shrimp was as big as my head. Unfortunately, everyone was so hungry that they dug in before I could take pictures, but you'll have to trust me and just go try it. I posted a picture of everything we ordered, and I would recommend every single noodle and dumpling dish on the receipt.

We always leave here completely full because all the food we order is great! First off, ordering is easy as you scan a QR code at your table so you can order from your phone. The soup dumplings are one of the dishes they are known for and never disappoint. This time we got beef chow fun, pork and crab roe soup dumplings, snowflake potstickers, mini pan fried pork buns and ended with the fried coconut rice balls. This is a regular for us!

I'm so glad I found this spot. We've been twice in the past two weeks and had zero regrets. They have a massive menu that will easily please most appetites. Some of my favorites have been the Red Oil Pork wontons and pan fried soup dumplings. Main dishes are quite large and easily shareable. Soup dumplings are served piping hot and filled with juicy flavor. To top it off, the table is stocked up with chili oil and hot chili sauce. I'm sure we will be back many more times to come!

This still remains our favorite Chinese restaurant in Austin. Tried the fried rice and pan fried dumplings today and it didn't disappoint. My daughter's favorite is the squid and lamb skewers. Hits the spot every time!

Today, I was hungry...not ravenous...just needed a hearty snack. So, I decided to try Special Noodle at Highway 183 and Lake Creek Parkway as I was already in the neighborhood. Apparently, they are known for Northern Chinese cuisine. Not sure of what that means exactly, but was willing to give it a whirl. The restaurant is large with many light fixtures and a soothing persona. My server asked me to scan a QR code to order my meal. Once I ordered, he put a slip on my table for the server that delivered my meal to easily identify me. This is a very efficient and effective ordering system. I went with the chicken skewers, which were extremely moist and lightly glazed with a teriyaki sauce. I really enjoyed my food and will definitely return to explore more menu items.

Did not have a reservation on this occasion, but they always make me feel welcome and manage to fit us in. Sat on the outdoor covered patio that was cool and shaded. The atmosphere is modern and lively, making it a great spot for a weekend brunch. Started the meal with cocktails including Lycheetini with Deep Eddy Vodka, Giffard Lichi-li. lemon, cranberry, I cut the cranberry. Also had a Fresa Paloma with Socorro Reposado Tequila, Contratto, strawberry, lime, grapefruit, five-spice that was very sweet and garnished with a flower. You are given a card where you can mark your dim sum selections. I ordered the Shrimp Pancake, Snow Crab Ball and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The presentation of the food is amazing and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and you can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. Service was attentive outdoors and the pacing of dishes felt just right for a relaxed brunch. This restaurant is truly a gem whether you come for brunch or dinner service. Will definitely be back.

Service was fine but we were out front on the patio and though our waiter was attentive while we ordered, we ended up finishing and waiting 40 minutes for someone to come by so we could grab the check. I ended up just heading inside and the maître d' was able to close us out. Tables around us were open so I'm not sure what had them held up, and it could've been a one off, but definitely not ideal at this price point.

When you arrive, everybody is so nice you give them your name and they get you seated right away. I ordered a drink called a signature tingling Daisy and it was so good. I definitely could've had so many but I was driving so you gotta pace yourself. We started off with the soup dumplings, which are just phenomenal. It's a must when you go. Also, for appetizers, we got the spicy cucumbers which were divine and a hot and sour soup, which was perfectly balanced and not watery. We also got a beef fried rice and let me tell you that rice is so soft and delicious. You literally dream about it the next day. I also got the pecking duck which is delicious there the skin is nice and crispy and the meat on it taste so good. We also got the Kung pow shrimp with cashews, which was delicious and the pieces of shrimp were gigantic. We also got the green beans which is were delicious. I love ordering green beans when they're cooked just like the ones I posted in the photo. Then for dessert, we got the chocolate mousse which is that little dog cake. I know it's so cute and they made it a little hard to eat because you feel bad in a weird sense. It was delicious now I will say when cutting it and realizing the inside had a raspberry filling, made it a little more crazy cause it looked like blood, but it was still so good. This place is definitely an awesome staple and a must visit when you're in town or just always go and have food there whether it's date night or friends catching up or anything in general even on your own.

This could have been my mistake but I don't remember any choice in the matter. The greeter wasn't very friendly and borderline surly when I asked for more details about how to not book the bar in the future. Didn't get any explanation but fortunately, we won't have to worry about that... The food was just awful. We ordered 3-4 types of dimsum (onion pancake, soup dumplings, chu shou, fried shu mae) and three entries (orange beef, eggplant and their take on ma pao tofu) for the best tasting experience. The curry sauce for the onion pancake was probably the most flavorful dish of the night sadly. The onion pancake was way way over fried-- hard as a rock. If that's their take on onion pancake... well, it's just wrong. The soup dumplings were passable but a bit doughie and the filling was full of a lot of noticeable coagulated fat -- not clear and broth-y, with light surface droplets of oil as all delicious broths. My wife enjoyed the chu shou -- I found the filling much too overcooked and tough -- difficult to eat with chop sticks. Like a tough, overcooked meatball. The fried shu Mae were just plain inedible. My wife and I each ate one and left the rest. The included sauce was basic and too heavy. And again, over fried. There was a huge delay between our apps and our mains, like 40 minutes or so. Various bar staff apologized. It wasn't a big deal, we were in a good conversation and they were super busy but our mains were not at all worth waiting for. Small portions. WAY over sauced. WAY too salty. WAY too sweet. No distinct flavors at all. The ma pao didn't seem to have any Szechuan pepper at all. How do you miss that ? The plating of the eggplant dish was really creative but I don't eat with my eyes and it came with no instruction -- my first bite was just flavorless steamed eggplant cube -- second was mixed with one note sauce. One of the better mains IMO but it was still gloopy and pretty gross. Wife did not enjoy it. The orange beef was essentially just six or seven cubes of tough, fatty beef covered in over-the-top bitter orange peel. We each had a cube and left the rest. Honestly, give me Panda Express any day over this abject failure of a restaurant. Austin needs more Chinese but if it's anything like this place, forget it. I'd rather spend a 4h round trip to Houston and go to even a mediocre Chinese restaurant than endure another meal at this place. What a waste of $165. Edit: I wish I was making this up but I literally had to pull over to throw up on the side of the road on the way home. The food did not sit well with me. I have no underlying health conditions, am not on any medicine that would have this as a side effect and only shared one beer with my wife. It was just a very, very, disappointing and gross meal.

The service has improved slightly, with us being so close to the kitchen. We were able to flag down servers to help us get an extra plate, tea cups, etc. Got a variety of dim sum classics: hargow (shrimp dumpling), siu mai, rice noodles, custard buns, chicken feet, chow fun, egg tarts, soy sauce noodles, charsiu bao, turnip cake My favorites are the siu mai, chow fun and custard buns! They also have non-traditional dim sum dishes such as soup dumplings, which actually originated from Shanghai. We got them and they were ok. We ordered a second time to get more custard buns but it seemed they ran out so it took some time for them to make them fresh. When they finally came, the buns were not smooth and it really looks like the custard was about to burst. Someone bit into theirs and the custard exploded onto their shirt. However, we all had a good laugh and still enjoyed the food. Have to have tea during dim sum so we also got our puer and chrysanthemum tea mix. Not sure if they usually charge for this, but we got it complimentary! Yay! If you are familiar with dim sum, then you know these are smaller dishes meant to be shared among the group! The vibe is modern: very bright, well lit, with the lion statues in the front, tea pots on the walls and clean spaces. The nice thing is you can order dim sum even when the push carts aren't going, which I personally think is better since it's fresh. My wife felt like she had a ratatouille type moment when she bit into the sesame balls and the deep fried mince turnover. I personally thought while the dim sum had a good fry, it was about average on the flavor and texture, but like I said, some others in our group thought it was excellent. On the other hand, the main entrees, I thought were stellar. The Sichuan green beans (despite this not being a Sichuan shop) were the best rendition of the dish of anywhere I've had in town - very good fry on the green beans with smoky wok hei, well seasoned with the pickled veg too. When your five year old opts to eat just this and rice, you know you got something special on your hand. The seafood fried noodle is also very good - tender squid, shrimp and veggies in the crunchy noodle nest is a great contrast in texture, as well as a lesson in simplicity. The peking pork ribs are also incredible - saucy, not overly sweet sauce clings to the riblets and gives you something incredible to gnaw on. I prefer it in pork chop form, but this is stellar as I think I've only had this one other place that was even remotely close. All in all, great place for Canto food in a town that doesn't have enough of it.

My 2025 review still stands, but after so many visits, I've noticed a few items haven't been good as they used to, particularly the chicken wings (and yes, all three of them). The Garlic Wings haven't been hitting quite the same lately. They've started to taste a little dry, and the saucier wings taste better the next day since they don't have time to steep through once served. The Filet Mignon Pepper Steak is still my favorite dish on the menu, but I still can't justify ordering it family-style anymore. It's delicious, but the portion just doesn't match the price. We started with the Pho Xiao Long Bao (Wagyu beef soup dumplings) and the Korean pancakes. The soup dumplings completely stole the show. Perfectly cooked, delicate wrappers, rich and flavorful broth, and with just a touch of chili oil...absolute perfection. I've had soup dumplings in many places, and these are hands down the best I've ever had. I say that with my whole chest. The Korean pancakes were also outstanding. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that perfect balance of savory and just a hint of sweetness. Every bite had great texture and flavor. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Banana Salmon. It was spectacular. It's one of those dishes that makes you question whether you've ever really had good curry before. The spice wasn't about heat, it was about depth, warmth, and layers of beautifully balanced flavor. I ordered the Crab&Shrimp Tom Yum Coconut Fried Rice, and this dish deserves its own paragraph. The presentation alone is stunning. The fried rice is served inside a fresh coconut, surrounded by banana leaves and topped with a beautiful orchid. But thankfully, it tastes every bit as incredible as it looks. The coconut adds a delicate sweetness without overpowering the dish. The crab was plentiful, sweet, and incredibly fresh, while the shrimp were perfectly cooked, not a second overdone. Dishes like this require impeccable timing because every ingredient cooks differently, and somehow every single component was flawless. It was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever eaten. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was warm, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations based on their most popular dishes. They even told us about their live music nights, which immediately gave us another reason to come back. The table next to us was having Pho and needed with the mango sticky rice and I am coming back for that. Overall, 1618 Asian Fusion delivered on every level, beautiful atmosphere, exceptional food, and genuinely welcoming service. It's one of those restaurants that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even paid the bill. Highly recommend!

I've heard so many great things about this restaurant, and we finally made it there over Memorial Day weekend. It absolutely lived up to the hype. This place is truly impressive. You can tell every detail was thoughtfully designed and intentional, from the stunning interior design and décor to the incredibly creative menu. What I loved most was how the dishes stayed rooted in authentic Chinese flavors while adding creative, and sometimes surprising, twists. Everything we ordered was excellent. The Lobster Cheese Puff was a huge hit: crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside. The Salmon Sashimi Mango Salad was incredibly fresh, bright, and crunchy. The sautéed pea shoots were so tender and fresh. And the Lamb Chop with Spicy Miso Sauce was absolutely unforgettable. One of the biggest surprises for me was the Veggie Fried Rice. As a native Chinese, I've had countless fried rice dishes over the years, but I've honestly never had one prepared quite like this before. It was so flavorful and unique. For dessert, the Chocolate Soup Dumpling was both creative and delicious, and the bunny-shaped sorbet was almost too cute to eat. Our waiter, Jake, was also incredibly attentive and helpful throughout the evening. He made our first experience there even more special. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality Chinese cuisine paired with a beautiful ambiance and elevated dining experience. Perfect for celebrations or a special night out in Austin!
