A1 Donut is a great classic neighborhood donut shop pumping out yeast donuts that are light and fluffy and cake donuts that are spongy and soft, albeit without any crust. The donuts that have icing and/or glaze aren't cloyingly sweet, which is a problem that I find plagues a lot of donut shops. These, instead, are sweet, but pleasantly so for a sweet dessert. In all cases, the icing/glaze adheres well to the donut without flaking off.
Prices are also very reasonable for the area. $2.25 each for the regular donuts. And for TGTG users, they give a big box of end-of-day donuts. In my case, 10 assorted donuts + 6 donut holes for $6.99. That's a value that's tough to beat.
Let's be honest, A1 Donut is probably using the same bulk donut mixes that everyone else uses. What differentiates donut shops is execution, service, and price. A1 Donut has all of these categories down pretty well. read more
