Hubs and I stayed at the Laurel Creek B&B about a year ago. It was one of our first trips away from our kiddo and we heard great things about the wineries in the Dahlonega area. We asked the owners of the B&B which winery they recommended. Accent was at the top of their list.
Accent reminds me of visiting Fredericksburg when we lived in Austin. And it reminds me of the Austin Winery. Contemporary, few-frills, just pure passion and intelligence driving the wine decisions here.
Tyler runs the show and what an amazing human he is. Always in 12 different directions at once, but giving each of those directions the attention they deserve.
While the inside is modest, laden with decor from his sister, I believe, the show stopper here is the grounds. There's a covered patio with cafe lighting and an extended pavilion. This all overlooks a creek and a secondary house that showcases their regular cadence of comedy shows and live music. My three year old has single-handedly covered all of the green space. It truly is a family friendly space.
Grounds aside, it is important to note the wine. I've yet to meet someone who has the down-to-earth personality matched with the passion for the intricate nature of wine that Tyler possess. He's able to break each offering down to you in a way that appeals to you. While this may have a lot to do with his intelligence, it also has a lot to do with the badass wine they house. I'm partial to their red varietals, but I'm convinced nothing there is undesirable.
Aside from the grounds, delicious wine, and live events, I'd also like to applaud their integrity. In the maybe, 6 times I've been there, I've mistakingly left my designer wallet there twice. Both times, they've kept it in their great care and held onto it until I could make the 1.5 hour trip back up to retrieve it. Major kudos.
I'm not going to remove a star here, but the only change I'd make is that I wish they were closer to where I lived in Marietta. read more
