I like Aldi for a few reasons. Firstly, they have cheaper food than most other supermarkets and not just in the fruit and vegetables aisles. There are cereals, herbal teas and - a particular favorite of mine - Moser-Roth chocolate. The dark chocolate is dairy-free, which is great on a vegan-day. Secondly, they have cheap alcohol. But thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, unlike other supermarkets you can find some ridiculous bargains on unexpected items. Last time I checked they had bath mats, dog-toilets, garden compost, digital cameras and a friend of mine mentioned finding a boiler suit for only £8. All of this is available with a back drop of cardboard boxes - this is what everything is sold out of so they get no points for style. But when you can get a box of Ibuprofen for 29p, who cares? read more
